What’s In My Trash (A.K.A. An Empties Post) October 2017

Pretty good amount of products I amassed this month so let’s get started.

Declutter

Lush UltraBalm this is an all-purpose balm it feels like really gross Vaseline but there is no petroleum jelly in.  If you need an all-natural Vaseline I would suggest it.  For me the smell and the texture I just could not get past. I like the salves from Fortune Cookie Soap Company so much better and they last forever I have two that I have been working on for years that barely have dips in them.

Wen Sweet Almond Mint Anti-Frizz Styling Crème this I didn’t really understand.  It is a super silicone feeling crème to put on your hair for frizz but you put it on in the shower and rinse it off which doesn’t make any sense.  I’ve tried not rinsing it out and rinsing it out but it just doesn’t work for me.  It makes my hair feel like plastic doll’s hair and really heavy. I think my dad wanted to try this, he has long hippie hair, so I’m going to pass this along to him.

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Dusting Powder I don’t really get this product it is supposed to be like I guess baby powder but it is gritty and doesn’t dispense or rub in well. Sorry Fortune Cookie Soap Company I love all almost all of your stuff but this one not so much.

Unwash Bio-Cleansing Conditioner I have been looking for cleansing conditioners like Wen I do like my Wen still but I’m kinda bored of it and wanting to branch out.  This was a fail it didn’t rinse out well.  It didn’t make my hair feel clean and I am pretty sure it dried my hair out. So this is out. I’m going to try to find this a new home since it is an almost full bottle and I’m sure someone might be interested in trying it.

Random lip balm I have so many nice ones that I am trying to move all these random free ones out of my life as I find them since they are stashed all over the damn place.

Hair Care

Marc Anthony Clear Dry Shampoo this does not leave a white residue so they are true to that claim on the bottle.  This was more like hair spray then dry shampoo this was very sticky in my hair and left it stiff but did not make it cleaner or less greasy.  It also doesn’t have a nice scent it has no scent.  Doesn’t hold a candle to my beloved Dry Bar Detox Dry shampoo.

Repurchase: No

Madame C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque holy crap for starters I hate the smell it smells like old floral just no. And it lingers terribly like 2 days after using it I could still smell it in my hair.  My hair is also really dry right now and this didn’t do much to moisturize it.

Repurchase: No chance in hell

Makeup

Victoria Secret Graphic Liner Pen remember when VS made make up? I had totally forgot I even had this liner and it was almost dead so I used it up it was ok nice brush but it bled a lot.  Not that that matters since this definitely is discontinued.

Repurchase: Couldn’t even if I wanted to which I don’t

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara this was nice the first few times I used it but it got so clumpy and goopy so fast. Apparently according to emilynoel83, a youtuber I really like, the mini gets clumpy much faster and the full size is better but I don’t know that I’ll ever be taking that $23 gamble.

Repurchase: No

Perfume

Tory Burch Bel Azur this is a nice fruity perfume. I enjoyed it I really like Tory Burch perfumes but they are really pricey and I tend not to buy perfume for myself since it is so expensive, but I do like it and have talked about it before on here.

Repurchase: No

Bobbi Brown Beach this really does smell like the beach I don’t even know how to describe it other than a perfumey version of the beach.  It should be noted that it is a very very strong scent. Again something I really like but won’t buy.  I’d really like this as a candle or a linen spray I am going to have to see if that exists.

Repurchase: No

Body Care

Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Wash I love the Orangeasm scent it is probably one of my all-time favorite scents in anything this body wash lasted forever and I like that it has a pump. I was so excited when this came out and I still am excited about it.  It is a peppery earth orange lemon citrus scent it smells like a real orchard or fruit garden.

Repurchase: Yes

Oui Neroli Shave Oil this lasted a long time but didn’t give me as nice of ashave as say baby oil. It did clog my razor less and smell better so if you want a shave oil and can’t use baby oil try this but if you can use baby oil I would just use that if you are looking for an oil.

Repurchase: No

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Whipped Cream this is an every month thing. So clearly I love them they are a staple for me this one was in Monkey Business which was a Banana Bread scent.

Repurchase: Yes

Dove Purely Pampering Shea and Warm Vanilla Body Wash I did not like this the smell was weird to me and it was too creamy and moisturizing. I do not feel like it actually cleaned me just kinda sat heavily on my skin. I also don’t have a picture this got accidentally thrown out. Which was sad because I had been working on this giant bottle forever.

Repurchase: No

Skin Care

Clinique Facial Soap this is an ok soap It isn’t terrible or great just ok I wouldn’t buy it but I’ll always use whatever samples I get.

Repurchase: No

St. Ives Apricot Scrub this is the way older formula I know most people love this face scrub but it really just does nothing for me.

Repurchase: No

Global Beauty Care Charcoal Makeup Wipes I picked these up on a whim at TJ Maxx I thought I would love them because they are black but I really missed the satisfying feeling off seeing the dirt on the wipe.

Repurchase: No

Eco Tools Mask Remover Sponges I got these in a Walmart  box and I really liked them at first. But I realized they degrade really really quickly and I would want a mask removing sponge to last longer then like three or four uses.  I would be open to trying a similar item but most likely won’t buy these again unless I find them for really cheap on sale.

Repurchase: No

Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel I really can’t remember what I thought of this so it couldn’t have been that great or that horrible. I will say it was a very sticky gel for whatever that random piece of information is worth.

Repurchase: No

Glamglow Supermud mask I really like these but they are very expensive and the size is very small so as I have found other mud masks that I like just as much I will not purchase.  I will use up every sample I get though.

Repurchase: No

Random

Dove Men+ Care Dry Spray Deodorant sometimes I’ll use men’s deodorant this was sent to me for free from Dove from an offer on their website (not because I’m like a famous influencer anyone can get the free things I get).  I liked it at first but towards the end it stopped working completely I feel like the contenst must have separated and at the end there was nothing of the deodorant part left.

Repurchase: No

Nad’s Cleansing Wipe this was awful it came with my new waxing kit I’m trying and this was so soapy and not want I’d want in a pre-waxing wipe.  I will probably us these as like hand wipes for my car.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Marshmallow Fireside this smelled so amazingly good and really made the room smell delicious and warm and sweet and cozy.

Repurchase: Yes

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Linen Spray in Wendy Bird I like this linen spray I spray it on my sheets before bed it makes for a nice sheet refresher. I do not have any more right now which makes me sad.

Repurchase: Yes

Sephora Play! October 2017 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

These was a very coordinated month everything photographs really nicely together.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist

Full Size: 73.93 ml

Full Size Cost: $25

Sample Size: 7 ml

Value: $2.37

This smells like the spa and has the best mister on it that I have ever used it sprays so light and even. It is really tacky and makes my skin feel tight though so I’d be more likely to use this under makeup then to try and use it as a facial mist again. I wanted this to be a nice facial mist but I think I will use this in addition to primer from now on.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation

Full Size: 1.01 oz

Full Size Cost: $43

Sample Size: 0.16 oz

Value: $6.81

This actually looks like a decent match for me but it is different then the shade I already have of this and the shade I was matched to in store which looks totally wrong for me. I love this foundation it looks so good on my skin and doesn’t get cakey which happens to me alot. I am happy to have another sample to use up this is a pricey foundation.

Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Exfoliator

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $58

Sample Size: 0.25 oz

Value: $7.25

Since I just got the full size in this month’s Boxycharmthis is not that exciting to me. I am sure many people are pretty happy about this little sample though.

Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $34

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $5.67

I have been dying to try this primer since it launched last year. It is just so expensive for a primer and I have so many but I’m so so thrilled. I find this works best combined with a pore filling primer they make a good smooth base that way.

Make Up For Ever Ulta HD Skin Booster

Full Size: 12 ml

Full Size Cost: $41

Sample Size: 4.5 ml

Value: $15.38

I thought this was a really tiny sample at first but I have changed my mind seeing how pricey the full size is and tat this is almost half the full size. This is another primer type product for me but this will go very fast. I am looking forward to mixing it into the foundation and seeing the effect.

Tory Burch Bel Azure Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $96

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $2.88

I really line the Tory Burch perfumes they all smell really nice. This is a bit fruity. I am consistently amazed and the value of these perfume samples that most places give away for free.

So there were two skincare items that are only going to be useful as primers for me so I am counting them as makeup. The value was higher then last month. I am pretty happy with the box and that it can all be used as one cohesive look on the face. I actually think it is awesome to get two products from the same brand so that we can mix them and see how they play together.

Ipsy always pulls out a cute bag for Halloween I look forward to it. Last years was adorable and this years is like perfect classy gothic horror I’m all about it.

Red bag with a lace pattern printed on it.

And this fucking back I can’t he perfectly matches the bat tattoo i have on my wrist so I am extra in love with him.

So let’s see what Ipsy sent me this month.

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $7.99

Sample Size: 20.7 ml

Value: $3.31

I do not like how this smells because I really really dislike the scent of shea butter and yes I know that is a really weird thing to dislike. But I really love hair oils they work so well for my hair to get rid of frizz and make my hair smooth and shiny. I also really love this brand so I will give it a shot.

Blaq Mask

Full Size: 60 ml

Full Size Cost: $29

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $7.25

This is everything I want in a mask. Its charcoal its peel off its supposed to get rid of blackheads and I really love the black packaging. I can’t believe how pricey it is.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara

Full Size: 7 ml

Full Size Cost: $23

Sample Size: 3 ml

Value: $9.86

So I own the full size of this so I have alot to say:

  1.  How is this almost half the full size packaging is giant I mean it is this biggest tube of mascara I own.
  2. This is not the same have they reformulated?
  3. The brush doesn’t look the same and the consistency of this sample is thinner.

I’m confused. I do like tiny little mascaras though they are great for travel.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion

Full Size:  1.2 g

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 0.8 g

Value: $13.33

I really love the glide on liners from UD I have a bunch. Unfortunately perversion is the one I like the least (I’m actually almost done with my last one thank god). This on me fades in about to seconds it smudges it transfers it goes gray the smudges are impossible to get off it just turns my eyes into a messy raccoon the other colors don’t do that to me this color just does not agree with me for some reason. Swatched Below.

MDMflow Liquid Matte Lipstick in Retro

Full Size: 6 ml

Full Size Cost: $23.37

Sample Size: 6 ml

Value: $23.37

When I saw this online I was like ugh I do not like that color but on it is a nice light pinky berry that I can live with. I also really love this packaging it is rounded and really like chunky feeling in your hand but in a good way. I keep reading MDM as something else ;P I’m pretty sure that was their intention but it keeps making me laugh. I’m way more into this then I thought I would be. Not that I needed ANOTHER liquid lipstick. Swatched Below.

Good value this month from Ipsy and really decent sizes. Overall no complaints whatsoever with this month’s Ipsy and me having no complaints is a seriously rare thing. I’m picky.
