Boxycharm October 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

This was a a pretty heavy hitting box this month but it was sorta just every product was a small fail for me personally. So be it.

Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer Cherry Tonka Musk

Full Size: 85 g

Full Size Cost: $20

I love Spongelles so much they are so easy for travel and such great quality. They are lightly exfoliating sponges with the body wash in and depending on the size last 4 days to like 16 days. I love cherries I like tonka but I hate musk so this scent is just a bit off for me the musk is really strong but I will use it any way. Happy even if I would have preferred the scent to be different.

Symniosis London Tightening & Resplendent Eye Mask

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $93

I don’t know what resplendent eye mask is supposed to do but it is a bit tightening but nothing dramatic. It isn’t hydrating at all despite having Hyaluronic acid in it.

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Mist

Full Size: 85 ml

Full Size Cost: $23

I have heard good things about this setting spray and I am really excited to try it. This is probably my favorite thing in the whole box.

Real Her Ultimate Glow Getter Cheek Trio Palette

Full Size: 7.5 g, 2.5 g x 3 shades

Full Size Cost: $28

This is so meh for me I think I am going to pass it on the bronzer and blush are so light the highlighter is pretty intense but this is so what ever to me. Not impressed.

Ciate London The Editor Palette New England

Full Size: 21.6 g, 18 shades

Full Size Cost: $32

This palette just confuses me. You have all these dark jewel toned shimmers that are gorgeous but then only 3 mattes that are not dark enough to be used with any of these darker shimmers so they serve no point really in the palette and some of the shimmers are just lighter versions of themselves so this could have been condensed and it would have bee a lovely foil palette to use in conjunction with out her palettes that people have. I am gona play around with this but I can see myself decluttering this.

This did not live up to last months box at all. I really loved most of what I got last month and this month was a bit more okay cool it is fine.

Total: $196

Total Value to Me: $168

Ipsy September 2020 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

So I haven’t posted in a month my bad. September was so busy it felt like it was 5 years long. But Happy first day of Halloween everyone! 🎃

Suva Beauty One Eighty Brush

Full Size: Yes

Value: $22.00

I love this brush it feels so well made it is so soft and so multipurpose. Obsessed.

Tarte Big Ego Mascara

Full Size: 7 ml

Full Size Cost: $23

Sample Size: 2 ml

Value: $6.57

I love this mascara I have used a whole full size tube before so when this was one of the choices I jumped on it. This gives me my perfect long fluttery lashes but with a nice amount of volume. Love.

Benefit POREfessional Hydrate Primer

Full Size: 0.75 oz

Full Size Cost: $32

Sample Size: 0.1 oz

Value: $4.27

I love this primer too. It smooths and fills like the regular POREfessional but it doesn’t get all pilly and dry like that one does. I am really lucking out with this box today.

Purlisse Youth Glow Vitamin C CC Cream in Medium

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $38

Sample Size: 7 ml

Value: $6.65

I don’t have a ton of luck with Purlisse products but I also love Vitamin C so much. Can we talk for a second about how there is only 4 shades and medium is the deepest shade like. Its the non inclusivity for me next.

Item Cheek Money Swipe and Glow Bronzer in Mood

Full Size: 9 g

Full Size Cost: $16

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $2.67

Eh its a bronzer I really don’t have much to say about it it is smooth its fine.

This was a great Ipsy bag. Best in a really long while. The one brush from Suva like made the whole bag for me.

What’s In My Trash? August 2020

I got nothing to say really August was a terrible month and let’s just get into the empties shall we?

Skincare (6)

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I do like this cleansing balm it is really gentle and doesn’t make my eyes sting or even feel cloudy but it isn’t quite oily enough to break down heavy mascara or really heavy eye looks without a lot of work. I will use any of these that come into my possession but I wouldn’t purchase this over my favorite, the Take the Day Off Balm from Clinique.

Repurchase: No

Dermovia Lace A Peel Black Bamboo Charcoal Peel Off Mask I don’t remember what I thought of this last time I used it but I wasn’t a fan this time. I really don’t like peel off masks. The lace cover seems like more of a novelty then it actually doing anything. This left my face feeling soft but more because it is peeling off that dead layer of skin then because it is actually doing anything to improve your skin.

Repurchase: No

Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum this is supposed to firm and smooth and I think I did see some firming but it was really thick and sticky and I don’t know that I loved it but it did work.

Repurchase: No

Leaders Amazonian Acai Anti-Pollution Mask I don’t know that this did anything but it felt nice.

Repurchase: No

ESW Beauty Raw Juice Mask Deep Detox this did make my skin look a little clearer but I wouldn’t call it a deep detox I don’t know that any sheet mask would be capable of that anyway. It is really hard to impress me with a sheet mask enough that I would go out of my way to re buy it, considering how many I have.

Repurchase: Maybe

Garnier Skin Active Refreshing Remover Cleansing Cloths these are my favorite face wipes that I have found so far that are also a reasonable price. They are gentle they are nice for just refreshing my face. I don’t use them for makeup removing so they take me awhile to get through and they stay moist for a long time.

Repurchase: Yes

Random (3)

Degree Motion Sense Ultra Clear in Pure Clean favorite deodorant. That is all.

Repurchase: Yes

Sweet & Shimmer Face and Body Mini Wipes in Marshmallow Mint I always grab these for legit pocket change prices at Ulta and I use them for wiping off swatches, for wiping my hands all sorts of uses these are perfect and small ad cheap and smell good.

Repurchase: Yes

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Shower Steamer in Pit of Despair I like shower steamers for the fun ambience and this one smelled especially good. I just feel like they are too extra for me. Something about how frivolous and pampering with no really benefit makes me feel guilty and bad so I never buy them. But I very much enjoyed this.

Repurchase: I loved it but I probably won’t ever buy

Home Scents (3)

Bath and Body Works Mint Chip Shake Candle this just didn’t have a strong enough throw for me point blank period and that is really becoming more and more important to me.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel Candle I don’t like these flat jars they don’t burn all the way through and they don’t burn evenly. This was also pretty one note and meh for a candle.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Wakiki Beach Coconut I love this scent and I do like the wallflowers these are something I will continue to buy from them even though I am limiting purchasing other products from them. They work well they last a long time and I don’t really have a substitute for this kind of item but if you know of any let me know.

Repurchase: Yes

Lip (1)

Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask in Apple Lime this was my least favorite of the flavors I have tried so far it basically had no flavor and I don’t feel like it lasted as long as the other flavors on my lips but that might just be in my head.

Repurchase: No

Makeup (1)

Maybelline Great Lash in Very Black this is like the old faithful of mascara that we have all see in our mother’s makeup bag. I had never tried it before ever and I can see why at one time this was like the end all be all of mascara it is nice it is lengthening and the brush is a really great shape it’s a cone so it is super easy to work with, but it is also super fussy it is pretty wet it gets super clumpy and can stick all your lashes together if you aren’t really careful with it. It just isn’t special enough for me to want to fuss with it as much as I need to.

Repurchase: No

Lotion (3)

Body Scientist High Dive this was a nice foot cream, it was really thick and hung around for awhile but I wouldn’t pay money for a foot cream specific cream unless it has some kinda active or something that made it do more then just moisturize while it is one since foot creams are weirdly pricey.

Repurchase: No

Avon Foot Works Overnight Renewing Foot Cream this was super nice and super moisturizing with the jojoba beads in it but I don’t really want to support MLM companies even though I have family members who sell things from them I just find the business model so manipulating though most products I have tried have been nice.

Repurchase: No

Vitabath Body Cream in Heavenly Coconut Crème I liked this a lot it was like a coconut cake kinda coconut scent rather than a beach suntan lotion coconut which is different for me but I liked it a lot. This was also a really good lotion I liked it.

Repurchase: Maybe

Perfume (1)

Juicy Couture Bowdacious so this smelled terrible on me like so terrible it turned really sour and off smelling like it was totally unwearable. So I ended up using it as a linen spray and spraying it on all my sheets and pillows and it smelled nice and comforting before bed.

Repurchase: No

Haircare (1)

MoroccanOil Moroccan Oil Treatment I love this hair oil it absorbs well and leaves my hair feeling so spft and shiny and moisturizing.

Repurchase: Yes

Sigh. That is really All I can say. That one $98 dollar serum and $99 dollar perfume really saved me this month.
