Whats in My Trash? (A.K.A. An Empties Post) February 2017

So here we are another month gone by seems like I blinked and it was over. So here are my empties for the month.

It really looks like a lot more then 15 products.

Body Care

I have my standard fortune cookie soap company lotion I go through 1 or 2 of these a month. I think everyone knows this by now.

Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Sugar Scrub this was fucking awful. It smelled way to strong the sugar crystals were huge and rough and very abrasive. Also there was so much oil in this that did not mix with the sugar it was a hot mess and gross.

Hair Care

Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco conditioning I really love this line of hair products. they are super hydrating and they don’t weigh my hair down. They also smell nice and are inexpensive. Highly recommend them.

Christophe Robin Shampooing Purificant this name just reminds me of winnie the pooh this is like one of those really intense clarifying shampoos. It super cleaned all the built up product out of my hair but it also really dried my hair out like my hair felt like straw definitively avoid this if you have dry hair.

Skincare

Sally Hansen finishing oil this comes in the little waxing sets you buy so I don’t know if you can even buy this full size but it is the only thing that will take the wax off my face after I wax my eyebrows. It does make me break out so I try to wash it off very quickly after I use it to avoid breakouts.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum this is so expensive I got a sample of this in my October 2016 Sephora Play Box. The sample did last a very long time I used it pretty consistently 3-4 months. It did jack shit though I was no results no nothing from this.

Makeup

Its rare I use up makeup that isn’t mascara.

Tartist lip liner in Latergram this I hated it is one of those automatic twist up lip liners and it was very crumbly and dry it would break every time I would try to apply it. It also looked very dry on my lips.

This Benefit Stay Flawless 15-hour Primer is like a Porefessional in a stick form. It was a little to dry and way for me it tended to ball up on my skin. When I could get it applied just right it did look nice but it was alot of work for what it was worth. I am not even sure if they still carry this product in their line.

Perfume

So let’s see I have two samples of Tory Burch Love Relentlessly this smells so nice its floral but very light and girly I love it.

The other two are a Chloe perfume that I can’t remember anything about and YSL Black Opium that was just very strong heavy perfume.

Random

So I have a Fortune Cookie Soap Company soap these “bar” soaps are shaped like fortune cookies and take a long time to get through this was in the scent BOOOOK from the hocus pocus box. its fallen to pieces now so Ive given up on it and moved on to a new soap.

Natures Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies this is my second bottle of these they taste good and I do think they make my hair softer.

Hello toothpaste tasted great and was an overall great toothpaste it is kinda expensive though so I don’t know if I’ll repurchase.

Once again right on goal with 15 products. 2 makeup products and 3 full size products go me.

Total this month: 15

YTD: 30

Medusa’s Makeup February 2017 Subscription Box Review

Medusa’s Makeup

Cost: $15.95 monthly

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Medusa’s Makeup sends 3-5 full size products, with a value of $40 from their line.  I have been subscribing from their first month.  Every month the products arrive in a different colored bubble mailer.

Medusa’s Make up is a vegan and cruelty free company and made in the USA.

They send out their newest products and always full size.

Oh Medusa’s Makeup I don’t even know where to start with you and how you have disappointed me. Since the beginning we have gotten 4 products this month only 3 products. the value this month was only $33 dollars this month instead of the $40+ that it is supposed to be. They disappointed me last month they really disappointed me this month. so that is two strikes if next month doesn’t impress me I will be canceling and finding a new box to subscribe to. I am open to suggestions.

So there’s the paltry three products they sent out this month.

Highlighter in Moonlight

Full Size: 8 g

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 8 g

Value: $12

This is an INTENSE mineral highlight (and very messy) it is white highlight but has a very strong gold shift. It is basically gold in the light which I was not expecting. It is very cool and will be good for very cool looks. Swatched below.

Eye Dust in New Wave

Full Size: 1.5 g

Full Size Cost: $7

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $7

This is a very pretty blue/teal shimmery eye dust. their eye dusts are great they are pigmented and do stick together well. They also come in a million shades. I almost wish they would send more of these and less glitters.

You can see the crazy gold shift to that white highlighter.

Kabuki Brush

Full Size: yes

Full Size Cost: $14

This brush is super soft and dense with a nice metal handle. It is a nice kabuki brush did I need another kabuki brush no but it is pretty. I find it very odd that the card and website both listed this at $12 dollars when I received my box and now 2 weeks later as I sit to write this post the brush is now $14 on the website. That is a little sketchy. I have never seen any of their other products change price in the years I have known about this brand.

Total Value: $33

Well Medusa’s Makeup we have had a roller coaster ride of a run but you are on your last strike. I am really hoping that next month they send one of their new lip paints, a gel eyeliner, or one of their body pigments just something different or I will probably be  canceling.

February 2017 Sephora Play! Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.70 monthly

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

This month Sephora has sent us this satin pink bag that says smitten on it. I like the silky feeling and that they are sending different types of bags now.

Admittedly this is not my favorite bag I have received from them so far but lets see how the value breaks down.

Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy in Milkshake

Full Size: 0.14 oz

Full Size Cost: $22

Sample Size: 0.03 oz

Value: $4.71

This is a typical lip plumping gloss it stings when you put it on and stings for awhile. I cant say I saw much plumping and I don’t like the sting. It isn’t irritating like old school lip plumpers so If you like that stinging kind of lip plumper you will probably like this. This is a really like nude glossy shade it does have some color so I found this very true nude to be way to light for me but it does some in other colors nad has a very nice sparkle and shine. It just isn’t for me. Swatched below.

Bite Beauty Multistick in Cashew

Full Size: 0.17 oz

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 0.07 oz

Value: $9.88

I love Bite Beauty’s packaging they use that soft touch plastic that’s almost fuzzy feeling. I was not sure of what to make of this product at first but its grown on me. It will work great for like a quick make up look throw a little on the eyes and blend out and an little on the lips. Can be used as blush too. it blends out well with your fingers but Sephora suggests you can use a brush too. It has a nice matte but not dry finish on the skin and is a really pretty mauve rose color it is darker then it looks in the tube.

Sephora Lashcraft Mascara in Black

Full Size: 0.33 oz

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 0.094 oz

Value: $3.42

This is the tiniest little mascara! I tend to enjoy non high end mascaras more then high end mascaras so I will see how this one works out for me. This is even smaller then a traditional travel size mascara. No where neat the $12 dollar value listed on the packaging, that is the price for a full sized mascara.

Tom For Neroli Portofino Perfume

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $145

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $7.25

Expensive perfume! In theory I should like this it has notes of citrus and bergamont but it gave me a headache and made my nose itchy which is a shame.

Clinique Pep-start Hydroblur Moisturizer

Full Size: 1.7 oz

Full Size Cost: $29.50

Sample Size: 0.24 oz

Value: $4.16

This moisturizer is supposed to work as a primer as well. I really hope this works out for me as a primer because it is a really good price for a blurring primer. On the back of my hand it was very blurring so I am excited to try this out over the next few days.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $30

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $10

Can always use another eye cream lol and this is a really good sample size. Origins makes some really great products so I am happy to have this and it will get used up eventually. I am currently alternating between my Tarte Eye Brightener and I believe its a Neutragena eye cream its in a blue tube.

Well the value was higher then last month but still not that great. Still for the ten dollars I spend on the box it is totally worth it to be guaranteed high end samples to try like that perfume. The samples especially of the make up are always big enough to last awhile for me. Only that Clinique sample will be something that gets used up fairly quickly. As always I am happy with Sephora and the variety of products they send out with make up, hair care, skincare and perfume.
