What’s In My Trash? (A.K.A. An Empties Post) March 2017

Apparently I was busy this month. I almost doubled the my goal of empties this month. Not even sure how I managed that.

Look at them all this picture just gives me such a happy satisfied feeling.

As usual I will be breaking them down into categories and giving my opinions on them.

Lotions

6 used up lotions and one I’m decluttering.

3 Fortune Cookie Soap Company whipped cream lotions. Two I used up and one of the black jars (It’s Showtime!) that I am decluttering. I love these lotions I use them all the time I’m sure everyone is super bored of seeing these already. I really wasn’t fond of the way It’s Showtime smelled so I am getting rid of it.

Repurchase: Yes

I also have a Hydrate Me stick from Fortune Cookie Soap Company. This is a sort of stick lotion that I applied in the shower right before I got out smelled amazing but wasn’t my preferred way of lotioning it took to long to sink into the skin.

Repurchase: No

Everything Balm by Cake Beauty this smelled amazing so sweet and vanilla like. But it is really just fancy Vaseline. It can supposedly be used for anythign but I was only able to use it for lip balm. It also clogged my pores around my mouth if I used it to much. This was nice but not for me.

Repurchase: No

Lemon and Cream lotion also from Cake Beauty this I loved this was a great lotion that absorbed quickly and smelled edible. Like a perfect lemon and vanilla cupcake I loved it and used every last drop.

Repurchase: Yes

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream this was a great littl elotion I used it on my hands and it absorbed quickly and there was no scent really. If unscented is something you look for this is a great lotion, I like scented lotions so I would probably not buy this for me.

Repurchase: Probably Not

Serums

Drunk Elephant C- Firma Serum this is a vitamin c face serum that is quite pricey. I did not like it I got 2 uses out of this packet and it was very sticky.

Repurchase: No

Sunday Riley CEO this is also a vitamin c serum that is also a moisturizer this I liked slightly better then the Drunk Elephant but it took forever to absorb into my skin.

Repurchase: No

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Skin Therapy Oil this was horrible it was crazy greasy and just awful run the other way from this. It left pools of oil on my face I had to was it off it was so bad.

Repurchase: No

Shaving

Eos shaving cream in pomegranate raspberry I do not like this one as much as I liked the vanilla shaving cream. I do not fee like this one gave me as close a shave or as long lasting. I would repurchase the vanilla one I will not repurchase this one.

Repurchase: No

Baby oil when I want a very close very smooth shave I use baby oil if you have never tried it you really should. It will kill your razor though so be prepared for that.

Repurchase: Yes

Face Wipes

Purity face wipes from Philosophy these are nice for just wiping your face in the morning but that is about it. They do not remove my makeup at all. They also aren’t soapy or overly wet or overly dry. They just aren’t anything special.

Repurchase: No

Pond’s Luminous Clean face wipes these wipes are a bit soapy but they do not leave a residue. They take off my makeup decently well and they are a nice strong cloth. If these are on sale I might buy them again but I am not wowed by them.

Repurchase: Maybe

NuFace Prep-n-Glow this was a one wipe sample and I loved it. These are expensive for face wipes but I may have to splurge on these one day. There is a cleansing side for removing your makeup and then an exfoliating side. This felt amazing and removed my makeup well.

Repurchase: Yes

Hair Care

Fortune Cookie Soap Company deep conditioner this was a nice conditioner very hydrating but not any other benefits. A little goes along way. I really like the marc anthony hair masks better and they are cheaper so I would not repurchase.

Repurchase: No

Dry Bar Dry Shampoo OMG this is the best dry shampoo ever I wish it wasn’t so expensive it really makes my hair look clean and smell great. Leaves a horrible white cast though that I really have to work into my hair.

Repurchase: Yes

Fortune cookie soap company shampoo this made my hair really dry so I ended up using it as a shaving gel to just use it up.

Repurchase: No

Living Proof Prime Style Extender this is another miracle product that Sephora introduced me to. I thought this was going to be terrible. I put this in my wet hair before straightening and was like ok that didn’t do anything if anything it made my hair take longer to straighten. Then I spent time out in the rain with out my hair getting ruined and it stayed straight for longer so I am in love.

Repurchase: Yes

Quai Treatment mask this doesn’t tell you what it is supposed to do ans it really didn’t do anything. I really didn’t get the point of this.

Repurchase: No

Makeup

Elf Soothing Lip Balm I liked this especially for the price I believe it was about a $1. It was slightly tinted and very hydrating and smooth. The only problem was how quickly it would start to melt when you touched it to your lips so the tube got very messy very quick.

Repurchase: Maybe

Urban Decay Primer Potion this is the OG eye primer that every one has know and used. I have like 4 more tubes so I am not interested in repurchasing this any time soon.

Repurchase: Not for awhile

Beauty Tools

Sephora cotton rounds these were fine as good as any other cotton rounds. Im not picky.

Pur minerals beauty blender this was my first beauty sponge and it is a little bitter sweet to be letting it go but it is two years old and starting to fall apart its starting to have some little tears in it. I loved this though it is very soft and spongey.

Repurchase: Probably

Nail brush I like nail brushes for cleaning up after work. I work outside with alot of dirt and this helps clean it off my hands and nails. I have a few more but I will always have one around.

Random Extras

Sensodyne True White toothpaste this didn’t whiten my teeth so not useful to me.

Repurchase: No

Prada Candy perfume I liked this at first and then Idk I lost interest in it.

Repurchase: No

So I got 12 more this month then my goal. That is insane I am really proud of myself this month.

Total this month: 27

YTD: 57

Medusa’s Makeup March 2017 Subscription Box Review

Medusa’s Makeup

Cost: $15.95 monthly

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Medusa’s Makeup sends 3-5 full size products, with a value of $40 from their line.  I have been subscribing from their first month.  Every month the products arrive in a different colored bubble mailer.

Medusa’s Make up is a vegan and cruelty free company and made in the USA.

They send out their newest products and always full size.

Last month really sucked in my opinion this month was definitely better. I may not cancel my subscription now.

Lipstick in Lydia

Full Size: 3.5 g

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 3.5 g

Value: $12

This month we got another one of the lipsticks this time in the shade Lydia. Which is a very interesting lilac shade. I like the uniqueness. They have really nice lipstick formulas they are moisturizing and opaque and not sticky but they are not particularly long wearing. Swatched below.

Eye Dust in Wasabe

Full Size: 1.5 g

Full Size Cost: $7

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $7

This eye dust is a pretty shimmery green very mermaid vibe both in the eye dust and the lipstick though I do not know that I would wear them together. They do make very nice loose pigments I just am not into loose pigments so they don’t get a lot of use but I still enjoy having them in my collection.

Stick It! Eye Primer

Full Size: 2 g

Full Size Cost: $8

Sample Size: 2 g

Value: $8

This eye primer is weird. it is super oily and it changed the color of the eye dust when used underneath. You will see that in the swatches below. I just don’t know how I feel about this primer the oily texture never felt like it set to me and it is just weird.

Lip Paint in Get Lucky

Full Size: 1.5 g

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $12

We got a taste of one of Medusa’s newest products their liquid lipsticks. Liquid lipsticks are my favorite I love a lip product that can stay on through life. This is not the color I would have chose But I will see if I can make it work. I have not tried this yet but on my arm swatch it took almost 3 days of scrubbing to get it off so I have high hopes of this being super long lasting.

Here are the swatches the lipstick, the eye dust with out the primer, the eye dust with the primer, the lip paint. As you can see the primer really changes the way the eye dust looks. With out the primer Wasabe is a bright opaque green with subtle shimmer. With the primer Wasabe is much more shimmery but a light green almost sea foam green tone. I like it better with out the primer. I do not want a primer changing my eye shadow color that much for a regular look.

Total Value: $39

So we have a higher value this month and a total of 4 products this time around. I like that they gave out a new product. They now have pressed shadows so I am really really hoping we get one of those in April.

Sephora Play! March 2017 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

Not my favorite box ever everything was kinda the same in my box I got one of the crappier variations in my opinion.

Verb Ghost Oil

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $14

Sample Size: 0.57 oz

Value: $3.99

I actually already own this and I love it so I don’t mind getting a duplicate. This really is a weightless shiny hair oil it does not weigh down my hair. I used it in Florida and it really helped combat frizzy from the humidity. Look how cute that little ghost is, I love him.

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm in Etheric

Full Size: 0.5 oz

Full Size Cost: $32.96

Sample Size: 0.1 oz

Value: $6.60

This is functions as both a primer or a finishing balm. I don’t really know how well this would work over foundation but I think It would be really pretty all over when you aren’t wearing foundation but want some glow. It has a shimmer almost duochromatic sheen to it that really is very ethereal.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Full Size: 10 ml

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 2 ml

Value: $4

Who hasn’t tried this? This is like the OG eyeshadow primer that every one has used. Yes this is what I use every day but come on Sephora step it up give us a sample of a new and different eyeshadow primer that we don’t all have samples of from Ulta already. Any way it’s a good eye shadow primer there are others I feel like they all kinda do the same thing.

Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter

Full Size: 0.33 oz

Full Size Cost: $30

Sample Size: 0.08 oz

Value: $7.27

I was not expecting to like this but boy is it pretty. And this is the largest Benefit sample I have ever gotten normally they are super tiny. This is a very pretty champagne cream highlight very glowy a little glitter but very easy to blend out. Swatched below.

Glamglow Glowstarter in Nude Glow

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $49

Sample Size: 7 ml

Value: $6.86

So this was odd. Very hydrating, not sure why it has shades because there is no color this I could see really being an oil slick on my face so I don’t really know how I plan on wearing this yet, It is super glowy though.

Left is the Glowstarter and right is the Watt’s Up.

Atelier Cologne Clementine California

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $75

Sample Size: ~1.5 ml

Value: $3.75

I love this this is an amazing brand of perfume they are mostly unisex and are so amazing smelling so fresh and real. Their citrus scents like this on are my favorites. This is a nice bright orange scent.

Not my favorite box, overly dewy is not a look I ever do but I will use this box to try and branch out and try something out of my normal comfort zone. I am not impressed at all with the eye shadow primer I really look to these boxes to be new and different. I feel like a lot of the other box variations were better than mine, my box felt very one note a got three nude/translucent glowy face products that is very one note to me. Definitely one of the worst boxes I have received from them. I am still happy with the value for what I pay and most I not all the products will get used up so I do not feel like it was a waste just not exciting.
