Massive Haul!!! After Holiday Shopping January 2017 Part 2

Hey welcome back to part 2 of this haul. Sorry it took so long life has been so in the way of any kind of fun lately.

So this second part of my haul will be lip products, perfume and hair care as I said in the last post. This post should hopefully be slightly shorter.

I got a set of three mini Lime Crime Velvetines in this adorable Metal Rose Tin. I have been dying to try Lime Crime for a very long time.

Serious Belle from Beauty and the Beast vibes from this tin.

They are super tiny but I NEVER finish a lipstick so who really needs full size.

I got the colors

Jingle – a metallic red

Red Rose – a ruby red matte, though it isn’t so ruby red when you apply it its much more warm

Sasha – toasted red matte, but its more of a dusty rose pink

These were kinda oily in the tube like the separated but I couldn’t mix them back together. I don’t know if I got a bad batch or something, but these did not live up to my expectations. They are not particularly long wearing and were not transfer proof at all.

Another brand I have wanted to try for years is OCC and their lip tars so I picked up this awesome army green colored one called Blackboard and it really is the color of an old school blackboard.

Now I haven’t tried this on my lips yet, haven’t had much occasion to go out lately, but on my hand it did not dry down so I do not have high hopes. I prefer a truly matte transfer proof liquid lipstick and that is the standard I have for all my liquid lips.

Now here are some liquid lipsticks you know I love if you have read my Sephora Play Review from December. These are the Sephora brand Lip Cream Stains. These I love they are very thin on the lips but dry down matte and are decently transfer proof and long wearing. They are very similar to the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks but these are cheaper and I think even better. I would recommend these save some money buy these they come in almost as many colors and the formula is so similar. Also a Sephora brand lip balm I picked up to make the limit for free shipping Which surprised me by actually being pretty nice, very moisturizing.

Here’s a look at the wand and swatches of all three gorgeous colors.

I had coupons and this was on clearance so I picked this up for a dollar or two. I was intrigued by the concept of a matte gloss which is an insane concept. I got this in 301 Forbidden Kiss a very pink rosy color.

If dries down to a matte glossy finish which is mind boggling. It is kinda sticky which I don’t like.

I got this elf set on Christmas clearance for $2 I was pretty excited all I really wanted to try was the lip exfoliator but ended up with a few new awesome products.

So I got a lip liner with a sharpener in a cap very convenient. A lipstick, a lip exfoliator and a liquid lip remover.

The lipstick is in Pink Minx, far to coral for me so I will pass it along. The lip liner doesn’t have a shade name it is a very mauve nude color I was expecting to hate this I don’t love lip liners and this looked very hard. In fact it is super creamy and really lovely. The lip exfoliator lives up to all the hype it is very scrubby and convenient in stick form with out having to get messy and use your fingers. And I ca always use another liquid lip removing gel/oil.

Tokyomilk Dark Fragrance Wardrobe Discovery Set This set was expensive but Tokoyomilk Dark makes so amazing smelling perfume they are so yummy and warm. With a very sexy layered feel to them.

Novocain in particular is a spicy yummy cinnamon scent that melts into your skin in an amazing way.  These are not all the scents they have I believe there are 2 or 3 more that I do want to eventually pick up.  They have one with a Squid on it that speaks to me on a deep level, if any of you know me in real life you totally know why. This was $42 dollars so $7 a little bottle isn’t so bad and the bottles are awesome they are right up my style alley.

Tony Moly Shiny Foot Super Peeling Liquid so these types of products are super weird but they do work I have use them in the past. You put this liquid on your feet and you wear the booties for however long the directions tell you and then within a day or two all the dead dry callousy skin on your feet starts to peel off its so weirdly gross and fascinating but it does leave your feet softer and nicer looking. The liquid does tend to be a little warm as you wear it I like it because I’m always freezing so for me it’s a great perk but if you aren’t into things that heat up you might not like this.

Whish Products so I scored in Ulta I’ve been dying to try this brand and I found the entire section on like mega clearance I got all these products for about $15 and individually they are all at least $20 dollars.

Blue Agave Hair Inhibiting Gel this seemed interesting and it’s a gel you apply after you shave to sow hair growth and prevent ingrown. I don’t really get ingrown hairs but I’m all for slowing hair growth.

Coconut Body Oil I love coconut scents and after shower body oils and I’m about half way through my current one so I had to pick this up it was only like $3 dollars. That was too good of a deal to pass up. It is an ok coconut scent but not the greatest I’m hoping on the skin it will be nicer.

Body Trio Sets I also found these little gift sets in blue agave and pomegranate. I will be adding the blue agave to my emergency gift stash, everyone has one of those right I’m not the only crazy person. They include a body wash, a shave cream (The whole reason I got it they didn’t have and shave creams left and that was the main thing I wanted to try), and a lotion. They are very light scents so if you do not like a strong scent this may be the brand for you.

Body Shop Tea Tree Rescue Kit Gift Set I also found this tea tree gift set on sale for like $5 or $7 dollars can’t remember but it including 2 full size products that I was going to buy any way that are somewhere between $12-$20 each so major score. I love the tea tree oil clay mask by the body shop it really does a lot to clear up my skin when I am having breakouts and my skin adores tea tree oil so I wanted to try some other tea tree products by them. FYI tea tree oil does smell kinda awful but skin care is not about a good smell it is about what is going to work and the scent tends to fade pretty fast.

3 in 1 Wash Scrub Mask this is an exfoliating cleanser that can be used as a mask as well. I will be using it as just a cleanser when I finish my current charcoal one that I got in my December 2016 Beauteque box.

Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution this is like a serum/toner type of product for when your skin has blemishes and to prevent them. The claim is that it is very purifying and will keep blemishes away. I plan soon to try this and use it pretty religiously and see what kind of results I get. There was a time I was putting straight tea tree oil on my blemishes but that was a little too intense for continuous use. And was making my skin both dry and oil from how much it was stripping and pulling out of my skin. So that is reserved for just spot treatments on the majorly bad acne that pops up and for scars.

Ulta Clean Slate Guide to Glowing Skin Sample Set I think this was kinda expensive and idk I kinda regret this impulse purchase but that aside let’s talk about it and I’ll do my normal way of calculating value see if this was even worth it. It does come with a $5 dollar coupon but you have to spend $25 to use it.

Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist

Full Size: 1 oz (yes travel size)

Full Size Cost: $10

Sample Size: 1 oz

Value: $10

So a full travel size that is cool, but I don’t like it. It smells a little weird like its trying to be fruit and apple scented but doesn’t get there its kinda sticky its not hydrating its doesn’t set my makeup idk what the point of this is. I do plan to give it a try as a primer spray snice it is kinda sticky and light so it might work and not make foundation look cakey. This is sorta a fail for me.

Strivectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream

Full Size: 1.7 oz

Full Size Cost: $72

Sample Size: 0.25 oz

Value: $10.59

This is $95 in stores but online beauty supplies you can find this for $72. I don’t know if I am quite at the neck tightening cream stage of my life so this isn’t for me. I’m not going to deduct points for that but its just not something I can comment on.

Peter Thomas Roth 24k Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches

Full Size: 30 pairs

Full Size Cost: $75

Sample Size: 1 pair

Value: $2.50

I love this brand and I hear great things about gold for your skin so I am super excited to try these you’ll definitely see them in an empties soon so check back. The full size comes with them packed into a jar which I actually prefer this foil packet I feel like they would get dried out and lose effectiveness being exposed to air everything you open the jar and stick your fingers in.

Derma Doctor Kakadu C Amethyst Clay Detox Mask

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $58

Sample Size: 3 packets x 6ml, 18 ml

Value: $20.88

Always LOVE a clay mask and this is an expensive one. I like the whole single use packet thing Even though I feel like its messier and there is more waste if the packet is more then you need but it makes me feel like I am using things up quicker.

Mario Badsecu Enzyme Cleansing Gel

Full Size: 8 oz

Full Size Cost: $14

Sample Size: 1 oz

Value: $0.57

Why was I under the impression that this was a really expensive brand? Who knows maybe the name idk this is a fruit extract cleanser with alpha hydroxy acids. I could see this being super irritating for some people. My skin isn’t always thrilled with fruit but I’ll add it to my 50 billion other cleansers that I have and eventually get to it. I only have one face I can only wash it so much.

Murad Advanced Active Radiance Serum

Full Size: 1 oz

Full Size Cost: $58.49

Sample Size: 0.17 oz

Value: $9.94

My skin is hit and miss with Nurad products sometimes they will work great and then months later the same product will make my skin freak out. I really have no fucking idea what is up with that but I usually stay away from Murad but I haven’t tried this one and it is such a tiny sample that I will be giving it a shot. Again this is $90 in Sephora or Ulta but on Overstock.com it is less.

Skyn Iceland Blemish Dots

Full Size: 48 dots

Full Size Cost: $16

Sample Size: 12 dots

Value: $4

Whole reason I picked up this box is because I’ve gotten really into blemish dots for those horrible hormonal under the skin pimples I find they work really well for drawing them out and reducing the pain.

So Total Value: $58.48 so great value almost double but I really didn’t need any of this and just kinda wished I had thought a little a little more before I got this. I do have to say the box it came in is fantastic like it’s a really nice box its big it has a magnetic closure and I will absolutely be using it for some kind of storage.

Philosophy Purity Makeup Removing Wipes I bought two packs of these to get the free philosophy gift with purchase that I will talk about later. I was running low on makeup removing wipes back stock and these were the most inexpensive philosophy items so I grabbed them for ten bucks each. I’ll value out the free gift to see if it was worth it.

FREE SHIT!!!

Everybody’s favorite because if its free it’s for me! Here’s all the free things I’ve gotten this is all a combination of Sephora samples with orders, gift with purchases, free offers from Ulta. Just a bunch of stuff.

ULTA

Clinique 10 Days of Great Skin for Oily Skin I got this little Clinique gift set that was just free for walking into Ulta. You get the liquid facial soap, clarifying lotion, and the dramatically different moisturizing gel. They are nice products they work well for oily skin the moisturizer is one of the few that isn’t super heavy on my skin.

Be aware that soap though if you get it in your eyes omg the pain is unbearable and you will be blind for like three days it was horrible.

Philosophy Gift with Purchase

So I spent $20 dollars to get this bag let’s see if it was worth it.

Purity Made Simple 3 in 1 Facial Cleanser

Full Size: 480 ml

Full Size Cost: $36

Sample Size: 30 ml

Value: $2.25

The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash

Full Size: 473.1 ml

Full Size Cost: $42

Sample Size: 30 ml

Value: $2.66

Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion

Full Size: 480 ml

Full Size Cost: $37

Sample Size: 30 ml

Value: $2.31

Ultimate Miracle Worker Multi-rejuvenating Cream

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $75

Sample Size: 0.25 oz

Value: $9.38

Ultimate Miracle Worker Eye

Full Size: 0.5 oz

Full Size Cost: $70

Sample Size: 0.1 oz

Value: $14

Total Value: $30.60 plus a really nice heavy duty canvas makeup bag.  So I think if you use Philosophy products or want to try them this is a great deal I know my Ulta still has them if you want to scoop it up.

SEPHORA

As usual I got a bunch of free samples with my Sephora orders. I got two true like barely on time use samples of Too Faced Glitter Glue and a Giorgio Armani Foundation. Then I got a little sample of the Glamglow Volcasmic Matte moisturizer (oxymoron?) two Too Faced Mascara Melt Offs I have been dying to try this but it doesn’t seem to do much. And finally a Dior mascara.

I also picked up my free birthday gift. It was a little Tarte set. A very neutral pinky nude set. I’ll be passing the blush along. This was my first time trying a Tarte Lip Paint and it was decent but did not live up to my expectations. It never dried down completely and wasn’t as matte as I like. It was super moussey and hydrating but it did not last long. It also didn’t slide all over my face but that is probably more due to the color then the formula.

Massive Haul!!! After Holiday Shopping January 2017 Part 1

Hey guys so I am here with a haul. That I am going to split into two parts so that it’s not so massive and doesn’t turn into a TL:DR kinda post.

Most of this stuff was bought on major after Christmas clearance and with gift cards I got for my birthday and Christmas.

Part 1 is going to be brushes, eyeshadow, and hair products. Part 2 will be lip products, perfume and skin care.

BRUSHES

Brushes are my favorite thing to buy and hoard and collect. One day I want to have enough space to actually display all my brushes rather than have them hidden in a drawer.

So I grabbed this Real Techniques Core Collection set on clearance at target.

It comes with 4 face brushes and a case/stand for the brushes.

I don’t see the point in stand the brushes are not easy to remove or put back in while doing your makeup.

The set comes with these four brushes

They are soft but I am not that impressed. Real techniques have been so hyped up that I was just expecting more. They are not as soft or dense as I would have wanted.

Now these Wet and Wild brushes I do love they usually run between 1-3 dollars and you can find them at the Dollar Tree, Five Below or the Wet and Wild website usually.

I didn’t have either the powder brush or the tapered powder brush so I grabbed them off a rack in Five Below. They are very soft cruelty free fantastic for the price. They also hold up really well when I wash them no shedding and I’m a little rough when I wash my brushes.

Nyx Pro Fan Brush

Bought this giant fan brush on a whim is brand new from Nyx their pro brush line it is very soft and very giant. The ferule is sharp and I did scrap my face while using it when I was using it so you have to be careful with it.

I also got some brush sets.

I picked up a Sonia Kashuk travel brush set.

8 brushes in a travel set with face and eye brushes. I will probably replace the eyelash brush and add another face or eye shadow brush.

It also shuts up in its own little case.

Now I am sure every one has seen these gigantic oval brushes all over instagram and youtube. So I treated myself to a pretty knock off set since no way am I able to buy the $400+ Artis brush set. I do have the MAC Oval 7 that I will be comparing too.

So you get 4 bigger “face” brushes

And 6 smaller detail brushes

Mainly I wanted the larger face brushes the little detail brushes I find confusing to use and awkward I think I am going to need a lot more practice with those.

I splurged for the holographic rainbow because I really needed that in my life and you can get this set HERE. They have a black or silver set that does cost less.

The largest face brush is about the size of my palm so it is pretty big.

It applied my foundation gorgeously and quickly I’m in love. Now comparing to the MAC Oval 7 these are not as dense but are softer. The handles have about the same amount of sturdiness so this is definitely a set to look into if you are interested in these types of brushes.

For how they pick up product I think I like these better my MAC brush picks up a lot of product and lays it down really heavy so you have to be careful and light handed with it these don’t pick up and apply quite as much so you can build up that amount of coverage that you want.

EYESHADOW

Well I bought a lot of eyeshadow oops.

Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Violet Vixen

So I think this purple/blue glitter color may be a Sephora exclusive I could not find it at Ulta. You don’t get a ton of product for the price but boy is it pretty. It is so super sparkly and surprisingly creamy on the eyelids for all the glitter in it. When I swatched these in stores they all seemed patchy except this on and it isn’t patchy on the eyes so I am pleased. Plus it’s so pretty, just think pretty thoughts.

Urban Decay Afterdark Palette

Clearly I like shiny things, so I love this holographic packaging on this.

I already have the shade Lounge I got it in a single in an Ipsy bag a while ago. I hate Lounge I think it looks super muddy on the eyes with its red green shift it just looks terrible on me I can’t get it to work. Aside from that shade the rest are fairly pigmented and buttery smooth. They have a very light sheen to them.  I was surprised by how nice alter showed up on my eyes when usually such a light shadow won’t show up on me. You get a huge mirror and a nice dual ended brush.

Alter and Scene were very hard to swatch as they are fairly similar to the color of my arm. These are really buildable and pretty.

For reference these swatches were done with a brush, three swipes in the pan and three swipes on my arm. To simulate a real eye shadow applying situation.

NYX #LOTD Lip of the Day Gold Lip liquid Lip Liner

I have never seen a liquid lip liner not sure why you  would want such a thing but I saw this on the clearance rack for a few bucks and like thank would be great as gold liquid eye liner. So that’s why I stuck it in here.

L’oreal Infallible Paints Eyeshadows Navy Yard and Aqua Aura

These are not great. They are patchy and a little shiny and not my favorite, I need to play with these more. I would give these a pass if you’re looking for liquid eye shadows, Bare Minerals makes some good ones.

Smashbox Cover Shot in Smokey

I was suckered in by the cool 3D packaging and having never tried Smashbox eyeshadows before.

These are lovely shadows and will be great for traveling you have everything you need in one little palette.  They have a standard eyeshadow feel not soft, buttery or creamy like an Urban Decay eyeshadow might be.

These blend well and are not patchy except for the matte shade called Slayer. At first I thought Slayer was a dark olive-green buy it is a weird charcoal type color. It deposited pigment in a very inconsistent way and was very hard to blend out. Otherwise I love this little palette.

Swatched in the same manner as the Afterdark palette.

HAIR PRODUCTS

I got an adorable little four pack of Dry Bar Minis.

These are just way to expensive but I really enjoy them.

I’ve recently become obsessed with this brad (Thanks so much Sephora Play!). It all smells so good and really does work so I picked up this adorable little set that comes with the Dry Shampoos, Shine Spray, Hair Spray (Which I may not use I’m not big on hair spray) and a texturizer which I’ve never tried a texturizer before.  They all smell like alcoholic drink but not like alcohol that was a terrible description you just need to go check them out.

Well that’s part 1 of this crazy long haul. Part two should be up sometime this week. Then we will be getting back to our regularly scheduled subscription reviews I have two on deck right now Medusa’s Makeup and Beauteque.
