What’s In My Trash? April 2020

Day 50+ of quarantine and I am losing my mind. How are you guys all doing? Using up alot of stuff? Online shopping alot? Let me know I am not really doing either unfortunately.

Skincare (10)

Naisture Tea Tree Mask Pack I have zero thoughts about this I waited 1 day to write it down and legit forgot all about it.

Repurchase: No

Manefit Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care Sheet Mask this was good, and it did calm down some of the crazy breakouts I was having so no complaints.

Repurchase: Maybe

Bath and Body Works Keep it Fruity Papaya + Tea  Face Sheet Mask I don’t think they sell this anymore I also don’t feel like it did much it was just a regular sorta refreshing face mask. This was super drippy though so it was dripping in my eyes and that was annoying.

Repurchase: No

Evioskin x Aurora Refreshing Cleansing Hemp Wipes these were really nice as  refreshing and cleansing wipes which is all I really use wipes for. They weren’t good for taking off makeup though. They are pricey for what they are and they are only slightly nicer than my cheaper Gariner wipes.

Repurchase: No

Algenist Genius Sleeping Collagen this was super nice but weird. This really did feel really plumping and my skin look really glowy (borderline greasy some days) and plump and nice but it was not that moisturizing. I don’t know that this has a place in my skincare routine but I also really liked it I am very torn by this product.

Repurchase: Eh

Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment I do feel like this does something to make my skin just look better when I am using it over but I can’t quite put my finger on what. I also bet that any lactic acid treatment would so I would be more inclined to purchase a less expensive option.

Repurchase: Maybe

Taste Beauty Ooh La Llama Hydrating Face Mask this was a generic hydrating mask one of the cheap ones but it was actually really nice there was quite a lot of serum enough to spread on my neck chest and hands but it did all absorb into my skin. It was a bit cooling and really relaxing.

Repurchase: Yes

Fourth Ray Beauty Acai Face Milk this was purple which I thought was pretty and one of the reasons I picked it up even though that’s kinda stupid. This was thicker and stickier then I expected but it was moisturizing. I don’t know how much pollution protection it did. I would be interested in trying some of the other face milks but I wouldn’t buy this again it didn’t feel like it was doing anything.

Repurchase: No

MyChelle Perfect C PRO Serum 25% L-Ascorbic Acid this was a good Vitamin C serum but I don’t like that it is dyed orange so that you can’t see if it has gone off. It is also really expensive and I have other Vitamin C serums that I like more.

Repurchase: No

Banila Co. Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm Original this was fine but I really don’t like it as much as the Clinique one so I would repurchase that over this every time. It didn’t live up to it’s hype at all.

Repurchase: No

Random (4)

Earth Therapeutics Foot Peel these do their job and I get all the gross peeling and they are cheaper than other foot peel mask.

Repurchase: Yes

Red Vintage Mickey Mouse Pouf I really like these poufs that I picked up when Target did a whole Mickey Mouse collection and I think I am on the last one I bought now and am kinda sad. The little Mickey heads on the ribbon make me happy when I shower and the pouf itself is really sturdy and long lasting. They start off really small but they open up to a perfect size after a few showers.

Repurchase: Yes

Degree MotionSense Dry Spray in Ultraclear I liked this a lot it works just as well as the stick from this line I usually use. It is a bit cold to apply but that might be nice in the summer.

Repurchase: Probably

Fortune Cookie Soap Company OCD Hand Sanitizer in Prepare to Die I loved this one it was a good texture not too thick or to runny it didn’t have glitter in it. It had a good scent and the name was just so perfect for the world situation that we are in right now that I had a good chuckle every time I pulled it out to use.

Repurchase: Yes

Home Scents (6)

Bath and Body Works Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Sugar Cookie this was great I love foaming soaps they last forever even with all the extra handwashing I have been doing lately. This really smelled like cookies and sweet and a little orangey it was awesome.

Repurchase: Yes

Basin Candle this was a make your own candle thing at the Basin store in Disney and I am a complete sucker for that kinda thing so of course I made one. The scent through was ok. But it burned super super fast and they were pricey when I made them at 2 candles for $24 and I think they have gone up in price. I don’t really recommend them but I probably will make them again when I am in a basin store because you can layer them however you like and make them super pretty.

Repurchase: Yes but these are a total waste of money

Bath and Body Works Fresh Orange Candle this burned super weird on my and like wouldn’t light half way through and I ended up just melting it on my wax melter. It was good it was orangey but I really wanted it to make my room smell like orange groves and oranges and orange juice and all that stuff but it was a pretty mellow experience.

Repurchase: No

Ulta Foaming Hand Soap in Pink Grapefruit loved this loved the scent love foaming soap all great. The only really annoying thing is that as the soap gets really low the shape of the bottle makes it fall over.

Repurchase: Maybe

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Beauty Wax Tart Beauty is such a great scent it has like a candy sweetness but in a very grown up feminine way I just really like love it. The scent throw is really good on the FCS waxes as well. Better than their candles.

Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Garden Arugula & Verbena Candle I love like garden/dirt type scents in candles but most people don’t so they can be really hard to find. This was from the Test Lab line that I wish they had kept around. This did smell very green and filled the room I loved it.

Repurchase: Yes

Lip (3)

Lipsmacker Perfect Pear I really liked this it was smooth and nice on it was a really good pear flavor and scent not like an artificial one.

Repurchase: Yes

Chapstick in Peaches & Cream this was vaguely sweet vaguely peachy very waxy not the best Chapstick I have ever used.

Repurchase: No

Inc.Redible Jelly Shot Lip Quencher in Ex Revenge I hated this. It actually dried the crap out of my lips once I got down to where the flower in it is the lip balm and chunks of the flower would come off it was really gross. It also felt really weird on my lips I don’t know how to describe it, it was just really weird.

Repurchase: No

Makeup (1)

Covergirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner in 300 Intense Black this was terrible first of all why is the tip a paddle it doesn’t make it easier to use at all. It wasn’t super black and it never fully dried so if I touched it it would smudge all over.

Repurchase: No

Lotion (3)

Grace & Stella Lavender Lotion this was not that great it is the kinda lotion that left my skin feeling dry ten minutes later and it was sticky when I would put it on.

Repurchase: No

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Sparky Body Frosting I love the body frostings they are so thick but feel like an oil when they melt down they always carry scent really well too. This was a very warm sweet scent with hints of cinnamon.

Repurchase: Yes

Tory Burch Love Relentlessly Lotion I don’t generally like the perfumed lotions that come with perfumes they are really expensive they aren’t super moisturizing and they are so heavily fragrances even more that the perfumes that I find them kinda nauseating. This wasn’t as bad because Love Relentlessly is a pretty light scent. I use stuff like this up on my feet and legs so that its not up by my face and hands where I have to smell it really strongly.

Repurchase: No

Bodycare (2)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Milk Shake Bath Milk in Stay Sweet this was alright it wasn’t heavily scented but it really left my skin soft so that was nice.

Repurchase: No

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Bath Bomb in Yellow Snow this did nothing it hardly fizzed it was not good at all. That is a super rare for me to have a total fail from FCS like I’ve had products that are just not things I need or fit with my routine but fails are rare.

Repurchase: No

Perfume (2)

Victoria Secret Bombshell Paradise it smelled like summer I really loved how it smelled but it really didn’t last on the skin I would have to apply at least twice a day if I wanted it to stick around. So I wouldn’t buy it again unless I saw it at one of the semi annual sales for like $5 because it acted more like a body spray than a true perfume.

Repurchase: Probably not unless it was majorly discounted.

Givenchy Very Irresistible Perfume so rose is supposedly one of the notes of this perfume but rose isn’t actually in it if you read the ingredients so I can use it and it doesn’t smell like roses. But it is a very strong intense fancy perfume type of scent and a bit more floral then I would normally wear so while I like it and will use up the samples I have I wouldn’t want to commit to a full size bottle.

Repurchase: No

Haircare (3)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Shine Bright Co Wash this was not a little goes a long way time of product I really needed a lot to coat all my hair. I love the shine bright scent its fruity and a bit champagne-y it was ok but I don’t think it was enough moisture for my drier hair.

Repurchase: No

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil Deep Nourishing Conditioning Treatment this used to be my favorite hair mask but this time it left my hair really dry and frizzy and I don’t know that’s about my hair is obviously going through something right now everything has just been weird and off with all this being stuck inside.

Repurchase: Yes

Sun Bum 3 in 1 Leave-In Treatment this isn’t something I would buy but it came into my life for free so I just used it up I expected so much from this coming from a brand that revolves around being out in the sun which can dry out you hair so I was expecting this to make my hair moisturized and glossy and wonderful but all it did was make my hair feel sticky and like I was wearing a hair mask that needed to be washed out. It also smelled like bananas and I hate bananas.

Repurchase: No

Declutter (2)

Pacifica Rich Body Oil in Tuscan Blood Orange this was a fail for me I thought it would be easier to roll on the oil but the process for me was so much more inconvenient then spraying or pouring it into my hand. I also really didn’t like the scent of this it was a really chemically smelling orange instead of a nice smelling orange.

FCS Leave in Conditioner in Ray of Sunshine I just couldn’t with this scent it just smelled off on my and I kept smelling it almost smelled like disinfectant on me. So I am gonna pass this along to some one else to use.

I am ahead of my yearly goal of $3500 in projects which is great. I am super pleased with that. I am also using and trying a bunch of my stuff I wouldn’t normally since I am home and not doing anything.

Boxycharm April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

So I some how never got a selection email for April and wasn’t allowed to choose an item which was super unfortunate because I did not get what I would have wanted. Oh well. This was a super weird but also good box though since I got three tools which are great and some of my favorite things to get but also weird with the lack of variety.

Benefit The Porefessional Hydrate Primer

Full Size: 22 ml

Full Size Cost: $32

I love this primer but I have so many I wasn’t going to buy it but then I got it here so that’s amazing. This is pore filling in the same way the original one is (well maybe a touch less pore filling) but it is thinner and much less dry so it doesn’t chunk up like the original can. I really think this one is much better than the original.

Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Hydration Juice

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $48

This was one of the choice items, not something I am into I really don’t care for stuff with a ton of aloe in it. Its not as sticky as normal aloe gels are but i already know I am going to use this up as a chest and neck moisturizer because I don’t enjoy stuff like this on my face. I don’t care how bougie it is to use a $48 serum on my chest and neck I have it and I should use it the way I want.

The Original Makeup Eraser in Sunset

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $20

How insanely pretty is this rainbowy Makeup Eraser?!?! Now I am kinda really hoping they do a pride flag one I would be so on that shit. I like Makeup Erasers alot they are really really soft. I still use makeup remover but I just love how soft these are and they feel so gentle I love them alot. This colorway is not for sale anymore so I linked to another pretty one but they are all the same price.

Hank & Henry Midori Beauty Sponge Bundle

Full Size: 1 Large Sponge 1 Small Sponge

Full Size Cost: $20

I like the shape of these sponges I find points and edges to be really useful. The smaller sponge is softer and squishier but they are both pretty soft. I love the little owl/bird face in the bigger sponge so cute and lime green is one of my favorite colors so super happy.

Lavish 5 Piece Neon Eye Brush Collection

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $29.99

I love the size of these brushes they are super tiny and I love tiny brushes they are great for detail work and smaller eyes. The colors are also super fun. But this is a brand I have never heard of and the site is a bit weird it feels very much like private labeled brushes that you could get else where for much much cheaper.

Alot of tools this month which I’m not made at just there was a distinct lack of variety. The Makeup Eraser was the definite stand out for me. Lower value than Boxycharm has been lately as well.

Macy’s Beauty Box April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it. Lately we have been getting between 6 and 8 items per month you never really know how many things you are going to get.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely seen in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online also Macy’s does have sales and $5 products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but it is still basically free.

I am really losing track of what day or even what month it is at this point its wild. How is everyone doing? What is everyone up to? I literally can not concentrate on anything it is a struggle.

Pearl and Pink Glitter Barrettes

Full Size: 2 clips

Full Size Cost: $7.26

Sample Size: 2 clips

Value: $7.26

To me this seems like a super young thing to include in this box but I know they are super in style right now just not my style. The set I linked too includes that pink one in this set but not the pearl one. I’m sure these can be found for way cheaper. It is sorta weird because these visually look super cheap but they actually feel really well made is that that like the style? Please enlighten me.

Ahava Time to Clear Purifying Mud Mask

Full Size: 100 ml

Full Size Cost: $35

Sample Size: 20 ml

Value: $7

Not one of my favorites this is a pretty generic mud mask it doesn’t really do anything special compared to any other generic mud mask.

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Capsules

Full Size: 30 capsules

Full Size Cost: $48

Sample Size: 7 capsules

Value: $11.20

I like these for travel super convenient I don’t find them irritating at all but I never get the chance to use them long enough to know if it is really doing anything or not but I like it and will use them.

Lancome Idole Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $96

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $9.60

Such a cute little bottle! I don’t like the way this perfume smells but I have a close family friend that is just going to love everything about this can’t wait to give it to her. This is a very heavy floral scent with some sweeter notes.

Coach for Men Cologne

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $54

Sample Size: 2 ml

Value: $2.70

A nice smelling cologne for me to pass on. I really like that they usually include a men’s cologne it costs them legit nothing and makes the box feel so much more inclusive.

Coach Dreams Perfume

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $62

Sample Size: 1.2 ml

Value: $1.86

This is orangey and sweet and right up my alley.

Pur Lit Mist Illuminating Setting Spray

Full Size: 118 ml

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 1.8 ml

Value: $0.37

This is so tiny it is 1 maybe 2 uses. They really could have made this like a 5 ml tester really. I normally really hate illuminating mists but since this is only 1 or 2 uses I am just going to chuck it in my travel stuff and use it up at some unknown time in the future. Really disappointing.

Coola Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Face Serum

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $54

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $10.80

Now this is the kind of thing I would normally never use but since I am missing all the sun I would normally get in April and potential what I would get in May too I can see myself trying this and hoping it isn’t a disaster. Since it is also supposed to be anti-aging it intrigues me more because even if it ends up looking crazy maybe I will still be getting benefits.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $79

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $26.33

The vinoperfect line legit does nothing for my skin but my gf loves it and really sees overall improvement in her skin so this will go off to her. Proof that everything works different for everyone because we actually very similar skin types.

I love that there is always so much and such variety in my Macy’s box I really think its my favorite maybe tied for first with Boxycharm just because Boxy is always all full sizes.
