Ipsy December 2020 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just one beauty junkie to another.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

I really am not enthused with the stuff I got this month. The bag is also odd its like a fuzzy blanket but one of those weird fuzzy blankets that aren’t soft and cuddly.

Estate Precision Liquid Liner

Full Size: 0.4 ml

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 0.4 ml

Value: $12

This is a nice felt tip very smooth very black. When I tried to wipe it off my hand it was super hard to remove and left a blue stain. So we can say this is a very blue based black lol.

Violet Voss Eye Shadow Single in Nude Sparks

Sample Size: 1.8 g

So VIiolet Voss doesn’t sell singles and I can’t find this shade in any of the palettes. So I don’t know what the value would be. I am also not swatching it because I am not interested in using a brown shade with gold glitter. I rather pass it on new to some one else.

Purlisse Blue Lotus 4 in 1 Eye Adore Serum

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $48

Sample Size: 7 ml

Value: $22.40

I know I am gona like this as a day eye cream it feels alot like my Neutrogena one I like but way more expensive. Happy with this even though its kinda boring.

Feel Enzymatic Exfoliating Cleanser

Full Size: 100 ml

Full Size Cost: $28

Sample Size: 19 ml

Value: $5.32

I don’t really like fruit enzyme cleansers I find them a bit harsh and stingy for me personally. I am kinda board of getting cleansers but what ever.

Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $85

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $14.17

So I am pretty sure I have had this before and liked it. Retinols are so expensive so of course I was going to chose it when it was offered. I usually like things from Sunday Riley even though they are obscenely priced.

So we are ending 2020 on a lame note seems appropriate.

What’s In My Trash? November 2020

Well this month was better but not quite what it needed to be. There is a high probability that I am just going to miss my goal and that is even more annoying then missing it by alot.

Skincare (14)

Oh K! Clear Cover Blemish Patches these worked really well but they were so awful to use they literally ripped so easy and they peeled off my face in little bits it was really gross and annoying but also as pimple patches they worked really well and they are super cheap so I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Repurchase: Yes

NuFace Prep-n-Glow Dual Sided Cloth love these these have been in so many of my empties.

Repurchase: Yes

Beauty 360 Refreshing Cleansing Towelettes these were surprisingly nice as dupes for my favorite wipes still expensive though from the generic brand.

Repurchase: Maybe

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Eat. Beach. Sleep. Repeat. Sunscreen Stick this was greasy and I don’t think it did much in the way of sun protection.

Repurchase: No

Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel I don’t know that this did anything.

Repurchase: No

Herbivore Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask this was ok It did make my skin look smoother and clearer but it left it pretty dry feeling I didn’t love this.

Repurchase: No

Naturally Good For You Sleeping Beauty Cell Refresh Serum I saw no results from this and it did not absorb into my skin well.

Repurchase: No

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Cream I used this as a morning eye cream and it was good it was really light and cooling in the morning I liked it for that. It is kinda pricey for just a cooling eye cream though.

Repurchase: Maybe

ESW Beauty Raw Juice Mask Pineapple Bliss this was fine I hardly remember it so it was fine.

Repurchase: No

Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes all time favorite makeup wipes.

Repurchase: Yes

Freeman Rejuvenating Cucumber + Pink Salt Clay Mask this was meh I don’t know that it did all that much rejuvenating.

Repurchase: No

Glamglow Youthcleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser this was fine but I am pretty sure they don’t make this anymore.

Repurchase: No

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask I don’t like this I think it is way to hard to remove it dries down to a really hard stay that I have to scrub off and I don’t like that.

Repurchase: No

Beautycounter All Bright C Serum I really liked this it smelled really nice and I could feel it working. But it is really pricey I think it is even more then the Sunday Riley one that I loved. This also pills a lot which isn’t a huge deal breaker for me but is something to note.

Repurchase: Maybe

Random (2)

Degree Motion Sense Deodorant in Citrus & Bergamot this was fine I really like the scent it is nice I still like the more plain scented one the most. I try other deodorants because I get bored but Degree Motion Sense is my go to.

Repurchase: Yes

Crown Brush Make-up Brush Cleaner this wasn’t great smelled like alcohol and wasn’t great at cleaning my brushes.

Repurchase: No

Home Scents (3)

Geeky Girl Scents Candle in Jane Mckeene this smelled so good and had a really great scent throw. It was so warm and sweet and yummy from the butterscotch, bourbon and whiskey scents. Would totally purchase similar scents from this brand.

Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Sweet Tiramisu really liked this it smelled sweet and lightly chocolatey I liked it a lot.

Repurchase: Maybe

BBW Candle in Happiness I love this candle it smells so nice and lemony and bright I just really like it and I can see myself buying it on sale in the future but I am not abstaining but I am seriously cutting back on purchasing candles and most things from BBW I still definitely use all the free item coupons and will still buy wallflowers because I don’t really have a substitute for that but candles with them have gotten far too pricey for the quality.

Repurchase: Maybe

Lip (2)

Medusa’s Makeup Lip Balm in Salt N’  Peppermint this was fine a nice soft minty lip balm moisturizing all good. I only have these because I have gotten them from boxes because it is in no way worth the almost $9 they list it for on their site.

Repurchase: No, not worth the price

Sephora Super Nourishing Lip Balm this was one of my all-time favorite lip balms it is so smooth an balmy and moisturizing and it smelled and tasted good but they discontinued it. I am so sad.

Repurchase: I would if I could

Lotion (3)

Jergens Body Butter Collection Triple Butter Blend in Lavender this was fine it was a nice lotion and the lavender scent was super light which I like.

Repurchase: Maybe

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Body Frosting in Lion’s Breath ugh I love the body frostings they are so lux and amazing on the skin but this was full of glitter and it rub off on everything and I am still finding the glitter places so disappointing.

Repurchase: No

Pistache Pistachio Body Butter well this sure did smell like pistachios like a lot. I didn’t mind that but it seems like a super odd choice considering how prevalent nut allergies are and this came in an Ipsy bag so strange to me. It was really thick and very moisturizing.

Repurchase: Maybe

Bodycare (3)

Basin Sugar Whip Scrub in Fruity I loved the scent of this it was fruit loops and amazing. I also loved the texture of this it was almost like soft playdoh in consistency but also really grainy. Unfortunately this was not as good as the other scrub they sell it just wasn’t as scrubby.

Repurchase: No

FCS Shower Steamer in Deep Magic shower steamers are fun and they add nice scent to a shower but I just they aren’t anything I am ever going to rush out to buy. I don’t love the scents in the Narnia collection they are far to woodsy for my tastes so I just try to push through them fast or give them away to not waste them.

Repurchase: No

Jo Malone Lime Basil & Mandarin Body & Hand Wash this had an intensely strong scent good scent but strong. Far too expensive for me to want to ever want to buy.

Repurchase: No

Perfume (1)

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne strong scent very nice but strong the bay was more prevalent then the blackberry and I would have liked it to be the reverse. Not super long lasting either.

Repurchase: No

Haircare (1)

Kyn Hyaluronic Acid Scalp Serum this was weird but nice. I don’t know that it did anything but it was super soothing on my scalp it is was itchy or dry. I really liked it.

Repurchase: Yes

Declutter (2)

Sun Bum Sunscreen Lip Balm in Coconut I’m glad I got this for free with a Macy’s box coupon because this was horrible even worse than the other one I tried these straight up taste like chemicals and sunscreen and it lingers for hours. I tried a few times to see if I could deal with it and it just is not worth it I hate it.

Joah Precision Brow Pencil in Black Brown I really don’t think I like brow pencils in general I prefer powder but this is a really warm color and it is really hard to use it is really dry and scratchy. I have this in black as well and it is slightly better so I am going to give it a go and see if I can make it work but that may soon show up in a declutter as well.

I really wanted to get to $300 this month but now i need just under $360 for December which I don’t see happening.

Macy’s Beauty Box November 2020 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it. Lately we have been getting between 6 and 8 items per month you never really know how many things you are going to get.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely seen in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online also Macy’s does have sales and $5 products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but it is still basically free.

This month’s bag was so bad that i have been dreading putting in the work to review it. Like i have a replacement item that sucks in comparison to what I should have gotten, probable missing items with no way to contact Macy’s about it. Repeat items and a just plain awful item that should not be in a box that people pay money for like I pretty much am not happy with anything from this box. This is a mess of a box.

Jockey True Fit Promise One Size Hipster Underwear

Full Size: 1 pair

Full Size Cost: $11.50

Sample Size: 1 pair

Value: $5.99

I really wish Macy’s wouldn’t send underwear this is not one size fits all how would that even bee possible with underwear and it really is kinda awkward and weird. I don’t like these.

Tan Towel Half-Body Tan in Fair to Medium Skin Tones

Full Size: 10 Towels

Full Size Cost: $29.99

Sample Size: 1 Towel

Value: $2.99

Well they sent us half a tan. Like wtf at least send two so people have the full body option if they want it. Also this is wildly inappropriate for November. I just am really let down by Macy’s this month.

Dermablend Loose Setting Powder

Full Size: 28 g

Full Size Cost: $29

Sample Size: 3 g

Value: $3.11

It is a fine translucent powder but they have definitely sent this before. Big Sigh. Its the laziness for me.

SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Essence

Full Size: 160 ml

Full Size Cost: $185

Sample Size:30 ml

Value: $34.69

So I have had this before can’t remember if it was from Sephora Play! or from Macy’s but it is really expensive for something that I felt did absolutely nothing. But I guess I’ll give it another go. I know this has a cult following so some people are probably thrilled to have this because of the price but I don’t care for it.

PYT Plumping Gloss

Full Size: 0.2 oz

Full Size Cost: $13.94

Sample Size: 0.08 oz

Value: $5.58

A boring clear gloss. Its plumping i don’t know what else to expound on with this.

Skin Reset 4-Week Intensive Rejuvenation System Set

Full Size: 36 ml

Full Size Cost: $139

Sample Size: 4 ml

Value: $15.44

This is kinda ridiculous to include as an item. I don’t care that it is technically worth $15 like it is a a one time use foil packet for a system that will only work if you use it the way it is intended. So weird. this is like a free sample.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Cologne

Full Size: 74 ml

Full Size Cost: $73

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $1.48

This smells nice I am excited for my girlfriend to wear it. It is a summer scent though this is not appropriate for a November box.

Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Croisiere

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $84

Sample Size:1.2 ml

Value: $2.02

I don’t like any Mugler perfumes they all smell like a headache to me. The bottle on this is kinda pretty being a rainbow star but that also feels like summer vibes to me.

This box really was not up to par this month I am completely dissatisfied it feels like all random leftovers from the summer months when they put the box on pause.
