Ipsy February 2021 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just the same link any subscriber would get.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

I really like this month’s bag first one in a while that I have liked. Mine seems to be misprinted the gold square is up too high leaving a gap at the bottoms and the top part not visible because it is on the fold.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner

Full Size: 150 ml

Full Size Cost: $12.76

Sample Size: 13 ml

Value: $1.11

This is the first time I can remember that an item has been under the average or what I “paid” for it. On top of that it is an item I am not super excited about I don’t really care for hydrating toners I find them rather pointless.

thisworks in transit camera close-up

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $45

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $11.25

This is a really interesting product it is like a skincare mask but it is also a priming moisturizer this is alot like the Glossier priming moisturizer but feels much lighter and smoother on my skin. I think I am really going to enjoy using this. I did not expect it to be so expensive though when I looked up the price.

Codage Masque Micro-Peeling Mask

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $52

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $15.60

I thought at first this was one of those masks that balls up which I am not hugely into but this is actually and AHA mask and should actually do some nice chemical exfoliating.

Love You First Perfect Eyeshadow Duo

Full Size: 9g, 1g per shade

Full Size Cost: $10.99

Sample Size: 2.5g, 1.25g per shade

Value: $3.05

Look I am not going to swatch this because I wouldn’t use this. Looks nice though. Interestingly my palette seems to be mislabeled. The back says this is rose gold and ivory, when compared to the full size product this is actually the soft brown and bronze shades.

Nars High-Pigment Longwear Eyeliner in Via Veneto

Full Size: 0.04 oz

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 0.02 oz

Value: $12

So this was my choice this month, I love Nars eyeliners they are so smooth and creamy and pigmented and I am happy to have this black one.

So this bag had a really low value as did last months bag looking back. I checked and the bag is supposed to be valued at over $50 so I contacted Ipsy about that because I am a little annoyed the price has increased and it seems that despite having item choice the value is dropping. I will up date you next month on what they say about all this.

What’s In My Trash? January 2021

I feel like this month has gone so freaking fast despite how crazy and trying this month has been. I did really well this month. I used up more then the avg amount of items I need to use up each month as well as more then the avg value I need to use up each month. Yay me.

Skincare (20)

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm always and forever my favorite cleansing balm it takes everything off it doesn’t sting my eyes it doesn’t leave a weird film on my face or eyes. Love forever.

Repurchase: Yes

Patchology Rejuvenating Eye Gels these were nice they stayed on well and they felt cooling and relaxing. They were also really comfortable.

Repurchase: Maybe

Soo Ae My Collagen Hydrogel Lip Patch this did not stay on well at all I had to hold it on which was not relaxing. I sorta liked the weird tingle it gave my lips and it did plump them a lot with out hurting and stinging so in that way it was effective but it did not hydrate my lips.

Repurchase: Maybe

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask I love this sleeping mask it gives my skin such a refreshed look after I have used it I really like it but it is so expensive that it pains me to buy it so Idk.

Repurchase: Maybe

Neogen White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop this was very oily did not absorb well and was very hard to get out of the bottle I don’t feel like it provide anything to my skin so I would not recommend it it felt like an extra step with no purpose.

Repurchase: No

Olay Daily Facials Daily Hydrating Clean Dry Cloth this was fine but washing my face with face wipes even these sudsy ones is not my personal preference.

Repurchase: No

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum this I did not like it was really sticky and didn’t feel that great on. I much prefer a thinner hyaluronic acid serum.

Repurchase: No

Clarins Shaping Facial Lift this did nothing. And in the attempt to be fancy they made the packaging so thick and stiff it was super hard to squeeze out.

Repurchase: No

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask this is fine I don’t think it does much and I would not buy this there are better cheaper masks.

Repurchase: No

Garnier SkinActive Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes these are forever my favorite wipes they are expensive though. I found a pretty close dupe at the dollar store but it isn’t exactly the same.

Repurchase: Yes

NuFace Prep-n-Glow Dual Sided Cloth I love these they are so expensive though I only use them as a treat. I love that they have an exfoliating side and a cleansing side. I wait till I have coupons at Macy’s so I can get them for free or very very cheap.

Repurchase: Yes, when I get them for free though

Ole Henriksen Pore Balance Facial Sauna Scrub I hated this is has actual sand in it. It was so rough and thick and just not enjoyable to use at all. I liked that it warmed up on my face but it just felt way to harsh.

Repurchase: No

PS Face Treats Eye Patches these are a joke they are not treating eye patches these are really something fun you give to some preteens for a sleep over. They stay on really well though and they are cooling. They don’t actually do anything though.

Repurchase: No

Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream this is wildly expensive and I don’t think it did anything it was really thick and sticky and not smoothing or hydrating or plumping or treating anything at all.

Repurchase: No

Pacifica Clean Shot Retinoid + Bakuchiol 3% in Seawater I didn’t see any results from this after using it for over a month. It was just a serum but I saw no changes in my skin.

Repurchase: No

SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Essence this I just it really does nothing I don’t get why it is so expensive of why people rave about it. I have one more bottle that I am going to use up so that I can say that I used it almost every day for two months and see if something magic happens but it feels like a waste of time.

Repurchase: No

Nuface Line Smoothing Serum so I have the Nuface line smoothing device and this is the thing you use with it that conducts the electric current. I can’t say that I think it works yet but will see.

Repurchase: Probably because I need it to make the device work but I have a full size and this was just a small sample I had that I used up first.

Pure Bliss Body Confections The Wilds Matcha Face Mask this was really good it really did draw stuff out of my skin and helped it immensely.

Repurchase: Maybe

Clean Skin Club Vitamin C Brightening Booster I don’t this this was a very potent vitamin c serum I did not see as much brightening as I have with other vitamin c products.

Repurchase: No

Beekman 1802 Bloom Cream Probiotic Moisturizer I wanted to hate this because $54 for a moisturizer with no actives is absurd but this was so nice. I only needed the tiniest bit this tiny packet lasted like 5 day. The glow it gave my skin was so nice and it made my skin not feel sticky or gross but it did feel hydrated

Repurchase: Maybe it is so nice but so expensive, I think if I ever manage to run out of moisturizer and have absolutely none left I can treat myself to this.

Random (4)

Eco Tools Mask Remover Sponges I like these for getting stubborn clay masks off. I would buy them but I never see them in stores and I am not going to go out of my way to buy them online.

Repurchase: I Would

Fortune Cookie Soap Company OCD Hand Sanitizer in Time Flies I didn’t love the scent on this one it was a bit floral and very liquidy which I also didn’t prefer.

Repurchase: No

Secret Essential Oils Deodorant in Coconut Oil + Mandarin this was horrible first of all full price it is $11.50 for deodorant wtf second of all it was really smeary and messy it got on my clothes and it wasn’t super great at being a deodorant it was fine as an antiperspirant but like it was just a bad product.

Repurchase: Hell No

Gillette Skintimate Skin Therapy Lotionized Shave Gel I really loved this I normally don’t like regular shave cream but this was really soft and lux feeling it clung to my skin well and left my skin really soft and smooth.

Repurchase: Yes

Home Scents (6)

Bath and Body Works Blueberry Sugar Candle this is one of my more favorite candles the scent throw is really good and I like the sweet blueberry scent.

Repurchase: Yes

Swan Creek Candle Co. Drizzle Melt in Vanilla Pound Cake I love these melts a lot they come in a ton of scents they melt well they can be remelted a few times before they lose their scent, I love them.

Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Hot Cocoa and Cream Candle this is one of my favorite candles it smells like a Hershey bar and I really enjoy it.

Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Scentportable Twisted Peppermint I don’t really like these I don’t feel like there really scent the car and they are more expensive then better air fresheners they just have cute holders.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Scentportable Stress Relief same as above.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Spiced Apple Toddy this was really nice I liked the scent it was very warm and spicy.

Repurchase: Yes

Makeup (3)

Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in 01 Black this is really hard to use likek it is hard to get a nice thin even line and it isn’t super black so you have to make multiple passes. I would tell anyone to steer very clear of this product there are so many other better liquid liners.

Repurchase: No

Stila Glitter & Glow in Next to Notte I love these glitter and glows they are so pretty and easy but they do dry out over time and I don’t feel like rehydrating them gives the same effect that they once had so this one has lived its life and has to go which is big sad I loved this pretty pinky red glitter. I have a feeling all my Stila’s are gonna start to dry out this year and that is really sad I need to use them more.

Repurchase: Yes, Maybe this color maybe a new one but I like the product

Too Faced Glitter Glue I really liked this it was much better then the Nyx glitter glue I have been using I could see this being my next glue purchase when I use up the ones I have.

Repurchase: Yes

Lotion (5)

Beekman 1802 Pure Goat Milk Whipped Body Cream this was just meh and I didn’t love the slightly milky non scent it had.

Repurchase: No

Bio Oil Dry Skin Gel (x2) this is very greasy, it goes on like this thick gel that I thought would be great and like melt into my skin but it just stays sitting on the skin and stays greasy and oily.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Dry Hand Relief Glycerin Hand Cream this was really nice and I would absolutely get this again. It was a bit greasy but it was very moisturizing and made my hands feel great and had a light citrus scent that I loved.

Repurchase: Yes

Gold Bond Strength & Resilience Lotion this was just ok it wasn’t anything I loved.

Repurchase: No

Bodycare (1)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Foaming Sugar Scrub in Cookies & Scream I loved this so much it smelled like chocolate and cookies and yum.

Repurchase: Yes

Declutter (3)

Too Faced Melted Matte in Queen B love the formula but I just don’t like this weird grey dusty mauve color on me it makes me look sick. And that is coming from some one who regularly wears greens, blues and grey lipsticks. I am considering one day getting one in a color I do like if we can ever wear lipsticks again because buying lipstick right now seems dumb.

Palladio Shadow & Liner Herbal Crayon in Espresso this is starting to dry out and I just will never use a shimmery dark brown eye crayon so while it’s hard to let it go because I have a whole color collection from them and my collector heart is like leave it with its friend’s, completionism! I don’t need it taking up space from products I would reach for.

Joah Precision Brow Pencil in Ebony I just hate this I tried to make it work for me and I would hate how my eyebrows came out every time I used it I just couldn’t find any use for this. It is trash.

Starting the year off strong. So much full size skincare alot of it I had been working on for a bit and the dregs all just made their way into January so it feels a little like cheating but it is a healthy start to the new year.

Boxycharm January 2021 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

I know I know I missed last month’s review but holidays and car dying and laptop dying and just the world it got too late make it worth doing.

Ciate London The Velvet Palette

Full Size: 12 shades, 12 g

Full Size Cost: $30

I love the soft touch packaging on this but these colors do nothing for me at all. So I will pass it along unswatched.

The Lifestyle Co. Reset Mist

Full Size: 4 oz

Full Size Cost: $36

This was my pick and I had no idea what it was until it showed up and OMG it is a linen spray I am so excited it smells really nice and relaxing and I love linen sprays especially boujie ones I would never waste my real money on. There is “quartz” in this that is supposed to do, well nothing because it does nothing but also I am pretty sure its just like pretty plastic pieces they don’t look like real quartz lol.

Dr. Brandt DNA Triple Peptide Eye Cream

Full Size: 15 g

Full Size Cost: $82

So when you buy this in store it comes in a jar but for Boxycharm it comes in a tube so you can’t try to return it anywhere (also that’s why things with say exclusively for Boxycharm on them when it is a product that is in the normal line in case anyone wasn’t sure why that was) but I much prefer my eye creams in tubes so they are exposed to less air so that is a plus for me. Unfortunately I have found all Dr. Brandt products to be mediocre at best and not even close to worth the price they charge.

Farmacy Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $38

This feels so nice and light and hydrating my favorite type of moisturizer.

Qveen Studio Dragon Duo

Full Size: Liquid 1.5 ml, Pencil 0.89 ml (that makes no sense)

Full Size Cost: $28.00

I really love the look of this box it reminds me of Nars. I really love all the little dragons on the packaging because DRAGONS! But uh I don’t think these eyeliners are very good. They are not very black a bit patchy a bit meh all around.

This was a pricey box this month around and we sorta got a bonus item with the eyeliner duo.

Total: $214

Total Value to Me: $184
