Boxycharm December 2017 Subscription Box Review

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size  items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to.  It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for the reasonable price of $21 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

As you can see there are only 4 products pictured here because for the first time ever I had something get destroyed in my box :/. So I am going to talk about that first.

 

Beaute Basics Bronze Essentials

This is how my bronzer arrived to me and it was all over everything in the box it was a total mess. It looks really pretty but since I don’t have it I am not adding it to the value of my box. I don’t know if I am completely satisfied they took a few days to answer and then told me they would send a replacement next month. So next month we will find out if they solved my problem or not.

This is a very dense brush but I think it will be great for a really strong but blended contour look. It is very soft but feels very well constructed.

Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

I now have like 3 or 4 of these and I still haven’t tried it I really need to get on with that. I don’t know why but I just don’t get excited to see this mascara? Idk I am weird like that.

Real Her Blush Kit

This is I’m sure lovely swatched but this came so nicely packaged and wrapped in plastic that I can’t bear to open it just to swatch it. I want this to be enjoyed in its pristine state by some one who will use it.

Pretty Vulgar My Lips Are Sealed Lightweight Liquid Lipstick in Particularly Sophisticated

Oh god this is so sticky but so pretty. I hate sticky but this is gorgeous the color the shine the fucking packaging. The packaging alone is stunning. This is definitely a lipgloss and not a liquid lipstick at all I don’t get why they would market it as a lipstick.

Such a pretty rosy pink with shimmer.

Total: $91 with out the bronzer ($39.95)

Even with out the bronzer palette it was a great value this month. I was really sad that the bronzer broke. The blush has no value to me personally but I know some one will love it. The value was great on this box but I won’t get much use out of the products but that is my personal taste.

Macy’s Beauty Box December 2017 Subscription Box Review

What is it: So Macy’s has hopped on the subscription box bandwagon and this is their first box. Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon, 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online (beauty ships free at Macy’s) also Macy’s does have sales and $5 dollar products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but that is still basically free.

This was a really heavy duty bag that some one will love but me but some one.  I was pretty disappointed with some of the selections this month so let get to talking about it.

Nudestix Intense Matte Lip and Cheek Pencil in Belle

So this is the Schrodinger’s Cat of samples here it both is and isn’t full size. The pencil is full size but the other items the sharpener ans case that would come with a full size purchase are not included. Now the case and sharpener for me add no value so I only knocked off $4 for personal preference. This is a lovely shade of dusty rose but a but more pink. I love Nudestix so this is super exciting and the best thing they have ever sent out.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix

This feels ok under the eyes it isn’t sticky but it isn’t super moisturizing or soft either. I don’t know if I like it as much as other eye creams I have tried.

Tory Burch My First Fragrance

I don’t like the scent on this. I am really picky about the perfumes I like.

Chanel Hand Cream

This is terrible. It is heavily scented like old perfume that gave me such a headache and it is greasy and sticky. Not to mention I already used this up and I only used it three times on my hands. This is a ridiculous sample and one of the things I was not super pleased with this.

Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream

I have gotten this sample before in a Sephora Play box I believe. It is really light and water like. But kinda meh and unimpressive.

Mac Lip Intensity Lipstick Sampler

I can’t swatch these or they will go bad but this is an item that really pissed me off like really a sampler lipstick car I really expect better from a subscription box of any price range but especially from one that costs $15. They could have included a mac mini lipstick or some other type of product that wasn’t two lipsticks in one bag.

The value was really good this month but that is mostly from the Nudestix so if that wasn’t your cup of tea then this bag really kinda sucks. Luckily I love Nudestix so it was worth it for me.

Walmart Winter 2017 Beauty Box Subscription Review

Cycle: Every Quarter/Season

What is it: Every season Walmart sends out a box of samples and sometimes coupons in their “free” subscription box. The box is a flat shipping rate of $5 and the box is considered free.  There are two categories of boxes “Trendsetter” which you receive if you provide a birth date that has you aged at under 35 and “Classic” if you provide a birth date that has you aged above 35.

It always impresses me how nice they package these Walmart boxes and how much they put in there for the $5 you are paying.

It was really packed this season.

Olay Tone Perfecting Cream

Little Olay sample with a coupon. These are great for weekend trips and nights away from home.

Body Fantasies Layering Collection

This is surprisingly nice for a sample size of a sampler product. These are glass vials with prayers and about half the size of what comes in the layering set. These are not my ideal fragrances. I’m not into cottons but its a really nice generous sample.

These are great I have used them before I find them very useful to keep in the car for anything you get stuck in your teeth on the go.

Great travel size toothpaste. I have used this before and I really like it, it is a really nice toothpaste how much can I say about toothpaste.

I don’t use hair spray so there isn’t much I can offer in terms of opinion.

I like sleeping masks they are the lazy way to mask so next time my skin is feeling dry (which is rare) I will try this out.

So I hate the coconut hibiscus scent when I tried it in other products from Shea Moisture and I don’t love curl enhancing products so I will probably pass this one.

Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion Radiant Silk

The in-shower lotion is just weird to me I don’t feel like it sinks in or moisturizers my skin. I like my after shower lotion to make my skin feel super soft and silky and this does not do that for me.

This might be a lotion I can get into I prefer oils to lotions for my body.

Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal Hydrating Cream

This is a very thick cream that will be great for dry skin this winter. It is a little greasy but not as much as you would expect for something this thick.

I am so ridiculously impressed with how much was in this box for $5 you really can’t beat this box it is such a great sample box. 12 samples in this box and 2 full size.
