Macy’s Beauty Box August 2019 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online also Macy’s does have sales and $5 products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but it is still basically free.

This bag has super 80s vibes this month to me at least with the double vision pink and blue lips on black idk I wasn’t there but I assume that’s what the 80s was like.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe Cucumber and Green Tea

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $5

Sample Size: 2 oz

Value: $5

I don’t love the green tea spray my favorite is the orange blossom one but I can use the green tea one and I have become addicted to facial sprays so it is nice to have more and one that I could travel with if I wanted to. The scent of this is pretty inoffensive and it is a fine facial spray not my favorite but it is ok.

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask

Full Size: 1 Mask

Full Size Cost: $17

Sample Size: 1 Mask

Value: $17

Sorry this picture is so shitty it is really hard to take a picture of essentially a crumpled aluminum foil bag. The price on this is ridiculous who the hell would spend $17 dollars on a sheet mask. I don’t find the SK-II products to do anything for my skin but when I want to feel Extra as hell I’ll use this.

Juicy Couture Oui Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $85

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $2.55

I love this I have it in a full size and always to happy to have a mini to travel with. To me this scent is really light and good for summer but I don’t really know how to describe the scent at all. The scent description is watermelon which I can see and the jasmine and techno woods. What the hell is a techno wood and what does that smell like?

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Chaos

Full Size: 1.2 g

Full Size Cost: $22

Sample Size: 1.2 g

Value: $22

This is my favorite eyeliners so thrilled to get a full size one in a color I don’t have. The only way I can describe this shade is University of Delaware blue it is the exact shade of the blue from Udel. Any way these are super smooth amd pigmented and last really well and I hate that they are $22 because that is ridiculous for eyeliner either way in love. And this is the second product we got that is more expensive then the bag and the 3rd full size item craziness. Swatched Below.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Rose

Full Size: 6 ml

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 1 ml

Value: $3.33

I swear every color I have of this all looks the same. The same neutral dusty rose color and this is the same despite them all having different shade names. I am not super into the shades these come in. The wear fine though they are comfortable. Swatched Below.

Tony Moly Mini Berry Lip Balm in Cherry

Full Size: 7.2 g

Full Size Cost: $5

Sample Size: 7.2 g

Value: $5

How adorable is this thing?! I mean totally impractical to carry around ant the little stem is like stretchy rubber so fun to play with but I foresee that ripping off really easily. This is a peachy pink tinted really nice feeling lip balm I hate tinted balms in pots I think it is messy and gross but this is too cute and tastes too good (cherries) to not use. Swatched Below.

Lovely colors. Eyeliner, lip paint, lip balm.

This was another great month. 4 of the 6 items are full size from a bag that only promises samples like it can’t be better then that. This has really become my most favorite bag in terms of value you for price and use I get out of products and the excitement I have wondering what I’ll get each month. I really love this bag and the coupon makes for a nice ok let’s go to Macy’s and see what free thing I am going to get this month and there are always $5 options that I am happy to grab for free.

Pretty cute bag this month very bright and summery. And as usual when Ipsy sends sheet masks you get two so I love getting an extra product.

Midflower Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Sheet Mask

Full Size: 4 masks

Full Size Cost: $9.99

Sample Size: 2 masks

Value: $5.00

This mask was super comfortable and felt really great and hydrating on my face I really really liked it. The only thing is I just can’t imagine spending $2.50 on a sheet mask mostly because I have so so many. That said I would recommend it it is nice and it is on Amazon.

The Balm What the Tea Ice Tea Eyeshadow Mini in He Said, She Said

Full Size: 9 g (Just the eyeshadow, whole palette 12.6)

Full Size Cost: $36

Sample Size: 1.2 g

Value: $3.43

I thought the concept of these palettes was so funny and sarcastic and I loved it but the colors did not appeal to me at all. I am glad I got a color I have a chance of actually using. This is a nice lilac that is very very shimmery. It is very chunky and has a lot of kick back and fall out but it does apply and blend out really really pretty so I can get past that since I always do my eyeshadow first so that really doesn’t effect me. I love these The Balm single eyeshadows because the packaging is so cute and they are so easy to work with that they are perfect for like throwing in a bag with a brush (these are not apply with your finger formulas) if I know I need to do eyeshadow like in a pinch some where other then my house. Swatched Below.

Pacifica Bronzed Rose Rose & Coconut Infused Blush & Bronzer

Full Size: ?

Full Size Cost: $13 ?

Sample Size: 8 g

Value: $13

So starting with the whole pricing of this because it is a bit weird. This is apparently an exclusive to Ipsy so I can’t link this to anything though I know thye used to have packaging like this for blush and bronzer duos that they don’t make anymore. So I based the price off of a 2 shade highlighter palette even though that has more product it seemed like the right price. Since the “formula” for this blush does exist at $12 for 3 grams which seems crazy. I linked to another more expensive blush/bronzer/highlight palette because it has this bronzer shade and a super similar blush shade plus two other shades.

The formula on these is so smooth and nice and silky to touch. The colors aren’t great for me I am going to have to see how I can make them work the bronzer is way to light ad barely shows up but the blush is too dark which seems like an odd combo of who this would work for. The blush is also really shimmery. Swatched Below.

Ciate London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $28

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $7

This smells like candy which is nice. The little beads that are supposed to burst seems like it might not work out that well in a primer since you want a totally cohesive smooth base but ok.

Firma Beauty 204 Wide Blender Brush

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $10.99

I like fluffy densely packed brushes like this alot for hen I want blended shimmers so I am happy to have this. I find alot of the Firma Beauty Brushes I have to be a bit firm and dense for how I like my brushes to be but they are still really good brushes.

Macy’s Beauty Box July 2019 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely in subscription boxes.

This is one of the first bags I have liked from from this Macy’s subscription. It is a completely mesh bag so it is great for the beach and outdoors so dirt and sand can kind of just fall right through.

Alot of stuff I am not really excited about so lets get into it.

Clarins Sunscreen Multi-Protection SPF 50

Full Size: 1.7 oz

Full Size Cost: $43

Sample Size: 0.3 oz

Value: $7.59

I have wanted to try sunscreen from Clarins so I am pretty happy about this sample. Wish it was a bit bigger of a sample though.

Moschino Toy 2 Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $76

Sample Size: 1 ml

Value: $1.52

I love the teddy bear shaped bottle that is so freaking cute. This is kinda a fresh but musky perfume.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Mascara

Full Size: 7 ml

Full Size Cost: $23

Sample Size: 4 ml

Value: $13.14

This is a terrible picture but this is the the waterproof version of the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara that is ok but I don’t love it is a little too clumpy for me. But it is good to have a waterproof one on hand.

Too Faced Hangover Rx Replenishing Face Primer

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $34

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $4.25

I don’t love this face primer it is too sticky and too heavy feeling on my skin. It just isn’t suited for me personally.

Grande Cosmetics GrandeLips Hydrating Lip Plumper in Clear

Full Size: 2.48 ml

Full Size Cost: $27

Sample Size: 1.1 ml

Value: $10.89

This is a pretty nice gloss it isn’t super sticky and it is plumping. but I keep getting them and I don’t need more. So I am also not opening this one.

Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar

Full Size: 74 ml

Full Size Cost: $35

Sample Size: 7 ml

Value: $14.80

Philosophy skincare never works for me but I love peeling mousse type products. They feel nice even though I know they are not really doing anything.
