Macy’s Beauty Box July 2021 Subscription Box Review

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (that used to it) with a purchase amount which I hate (SUCH A DOWNGRADE), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it. Lately we have been getting between 6 and 8 items per month you never really know how many things you are going to get.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely seen in subscription boxes.

I normally save these for travel and stuff but I think this perfume smells so good I am probably just gona use it right now and enjoy it. It is very summer and fruity but fancy.

Clinique Moisture Surge 100h Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

This is just a very nice light gel moisturizer nothing special but definitely feels nice on. I really don’t believe the 100h claims that feels so ridiculous and over dramatic.

Shiseido Ultimate Protector Lotion SPF 50+

Value: $2.29

This is one of my favorite sunscreens every. It is light it isn’t sticky or weird feeling it literally feels like nothing and doesn’t break me out or give me and allergic reaction. I wish it wasn’t $49 because I would buy it all the time but it is so expensive for something I would go through pretty quickly because a little does not go along way with this product but it is so damn good.

Coola Sun Silk Drops SPF 30

This is a sunscreen that has always intrigued me but again pricey so I never want to buy it. The packaging I love it is so pretty and it feels so nice in my hand it is heavy glass but has that soft touch on it and the dropper is convenient.

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Smoothing Anti-Frizz Blowout Butter

Alterna products are really hit or miss for me I rarely heat style my hair let alone blow it out so I don’t know if I will end up keeping this.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-in-Stick Hydrating Lipstick Balm in Rouge Tuxedo

Sample Size: 1.5 g?

Value: $17.81

This is very comfortable but it also is very slippy and this is a very bright color to have in that texture. It is a really pretty color but I don’t know how much use I will get out of it. I hate how secretive these luxury brands are with the size of their products like just let me know how much product I am getting with out having to do a bunch of research and guessing.

Grande Cosmetics Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper in Clear

I have tried these before they are nice but like not worth the high price for the little amount of product. Stick with the lash and brow serums that actually do something.

Well it was a nice mix of things this month but the sizes are very small.

Still lamenting the loss of the coupon. It used to get me in the store every month and usually I spent at least a dollar or two more then the coupon. I haven’t been to Macy’s once since they changed the coupon. Seems like a bad business practice from them a loss leader like that really drives traffic into the store and they are losing that by changing the coupon and creating bad will with their customers.

Travel Pill Case

So I linked to something similar that comes in a two pack from amazon and then estimated a price this is smaller then those but also looks sturdier. I don’t really use travel pill cases. But this is such a cool little box with all the compartments I am sure Ill find a use for it. Even if I just use it to organize my lip rings or something.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo

This is my all time favorite dry shampoo and I am super happy to have another one because I wasn’t letting myself buy it until I worked thru the few that I have and it takes me months to get threw dry shampoo. This doesn’t make my hair feel as dry and sticky as other dry shampoos plus it smells so good.

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Capsules

I have accumulated a few vials of these (mostly all from Macy’s) and have yet to ever try them because they just seem so inconvenient to use. I really need to pull them all together and use them strictly and see if they are worth the price.

Clarins Total Eye Lift

I love expensive eye creams so this will get used up and the tube is super cute. I am always curious about Clarins as a brand I feel like I don’t see them often or try them often.

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate

This is like stupid expensive. I have tried it and I don’t think it does anything at all but also I have only used it in really small doses so maybe that is the reason.

Mac Fix+

This is the tiniest cutest little bottle of Fix + like so adorable. Unfortunately this is like 2 uses. Fix + really is so great like it really makes your make up and skin look and feel so good and it has a great sprayer and it is so amazing. But also so expensive.

Armani Beauty Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in 501 Casual Pink

This is a super pretty color and it is really light and comfortable but I wish it fully dried down. I feel super fancy having an Armani Lipstick even if it is itty bitty.

Boxycharm June 2021 Subscription Box Review

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

This feels like a very standard primer it isn’t very exciting it is oddly being claimed as a pride thing which is confusing. Just a clear soft primer.

Luna Magic Beauty Va-Va Voom Pink Lash Primer

First of all the audacity to say this is $25 dollars when you can buy it on Boxycharm’s own website for $6. I weirdly love the packaging of this it is soft touch and really muted and appealing. I kinda hope this leaves my lashes really pink so I can use it as a colored mascara because I don’t really use lash primers and I love the packaging enough to want to get use out of it.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red

This is a very interesting and pretty red it is some how dark and bright at the same time but also very blue based and orangey at the same time. This was my choice for the month and probably the thing I am happiest about.

Touch in Sol Pretty Filter Glowdient Makeup Palette

You can’t buy this anywhere but on Boxycharm’s site for $9 dollars not $34. Now i opened this and was like ugh hate it. Then I swatched it and it is actually really pretty and a really nice texture not as glittery mess as it looks in the pan. This is easily number two in the box for me.

OPV Beauty Spotlight Eyeshadow Palette

This whole thing is a hot mess. *First of all it is listed at $40.42, but $12 on Boxycharm’s site. and this feels like a $12 dollar palette the quality is not there the shadows preform really inconsistently and underwhelmingly. The back says the palette is 1.6 g which makes no sense that would mean that each shade contains 0.09 of a gram of shadow that is tiny so I think they meant to say that each shade is 1.6 g.like this box really feels like a bunch of sale junk they got for free and are charging us for.

Look the value of this box is trash this is all discounted junk except for the one thing I picked out.

Look at the discrepancies in the value breakdowns

“Listed Value”: $146

Buying it (Not from Boxy where Applicable): $111.07

Buying it From Boxy Only (Where Applicable): $60

How fucked up is that?

I am not happy and Boxy’s customer Service is TRASH total TRASH I ordered some thing from them on April 2nd I just got it June 21st after having spoke to customer service twice; getting blown off and never getting any tracking information or updates if you are counting that is more then 60 days. WTF.
