Boxycharm April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

So I some how never got a selection email for April and wasn’t allowed to choose an item which was super unfortunate because I did not get what I would have wanted. Oh well. This was a super weird but also good box though since I got three tools which are great and some of my favorite things to get but also weird with the lack of variety.

Benefit The Porefessional Hydrate Primer

Full Size: 22 ml

Full Size Cost: $32

I love this primer but I have so many I wasn’t going to buy it but then I got it here so that’s amazing. This is pore filling in the same way the original one is (well maybe a touch less pore filling) but it is thinner and much less dry so it doesn’t chunk up like the original can. I really think this one is much better than the original.

Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Hydration Juice

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $48

This was one of the choice items, not something I am into I really don’t care for stuff with a ton of aloe in it. Its not as sticky as normal aloe gels are but i already know I am going to use this up as a chest and neck moisturizer because I don’t enjoy stuff like this on my face. I don’t care how bougie it is to use a $48 serum on my chest and neck I have it and I should use it the way I want.

The Original Makeup Eraser in Sunset

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $20

How insanely pretty is this rainbowy Makeup Eraser?!?! Now I am kinda really hoping they do a pride flag one I would be so on that shit. I like Makeup Erasers alot they are really really soft. I still use makeup remover but I just love how soft these are and they feel so gentle I love them alot. This colorway is not for sale anymore so I linked to another pretty one but they are all the same price.

Hank & Henry Midori Beauty Sponge Bundle

Full Size: 1 Large Sponge 1 Small Sponge

Full Size Cost: $20

I like the shape of these sponges I find points and edges to be really useful. The smaller sponge is softer and squishier but they are both pretty soft. I love the little owl/bird face in the bigger sponge so cute and lime green is one of my favorite colors so super happy.

Lavish 5 Piece Neon Eye Brush Collection

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $29.99

I love the size of these brushes they are super tiny and I love tiny brushes they are great for detail work and smaller eyes. The colors are also super fun. But this is a brand I have never heard of and the site is a bit weird it feels very much like private labeled brushes that you could get else where for much much cheaper.

Alot of tools this month which I’m not made at just there was a distinct lack of variety. The Makeup Eraser was the definite stand out for me. Lower value than Boxycharm has been lately as well.

Total: $149.99

Macy’s Beauty Box April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it. Lately we have been getting between 6 and 8 items per month you never really know how many things you are going to get.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely seen in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online also Macy’s does have sales and $5 products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but it is still basically free.

I am really losing track of what day or even what month it is at this point its wild. How is everyone doing? What is everyone up to? I literally can not concentrate on anything it is a struggle.

Pearl and Pink Glitter Barrettes

Full Size: 2 clips

Full Size Cost: $7.26

Sample Size: 2 clips

Value: $7.26

To me this seems like a super young thing to include in this box but I know they are super in style right now just not my style. The set I linked too includes that pink one in this set but not the pearl one. I’m sure these can be found for way cheaper. It is sorta weird because these visually look super cheap but they actually feel really well made is that that like the style? Please enlighten me.

Ahava Time to Clear Purifying Mud Mask

Full Size: 100 ml

Full Size Cost: $35

Sample Size: 20 ml

Value: $7

Not one of my favorites this is a pretty generic mud mask it doesn’t really do anything special compared to any other generic mud mask.

Elizabeth Arden Retinol Capsules

Full Size: 30 capsules

Full Size Cost: $48

Sample Size: 7 capsules

Value: $11.20

I like these for travel super convenient I don’t find them irritating at all but I never get the chance to use them long enough to know if it is really doing anything or not but I like it and will use them.

Lancome Idole Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $96

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $9.60

Such a cute little bottle! I don’t like the way this perfume smells but I have a close family friend that is just going to love everything about this can’t wait to give it to her. This is a very heavy floral scent with some sweeter notes.

Coach for Men Cologne

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $54

Sample Size: 2 ml

Value: $2.70

A nice smelling cologne for me to pass on. I really like that they usually include a men’s cologne it costs them legit nothing and makes the box feel so much more inclusive.

Coach Dreams Perfume

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $62

Sample Size: 1.2 ml

Value: $1.86

This is orangey and sweet and right up my alley.

Pur Lit Mist Illuminating Setting Spray

Full Size: 118 ml

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 1.8 ml

Value: $0.37

This is so tiny it is 1 maybe 2 uses. They really could have made this like a 5 ml tester really. I normally really hate illuminating mists but since this is only 1 or 2 uses I am just going to chuck it in my travel stuff and use it up at some unknown time in the future. Really disappointing.

Coola Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Face Serum

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $54

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $10.80

Now this is the kind of thing I would normally never use but since I am missing all the sun I would normally get in April and potential what I would get in May too I can see myself trying this and hoping it isn’t a disaster. Since it is also supposed to be anti-aging it intrigues me more because even if it ends up looking crazy maybe I will still be getting benefits.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $79

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $26.33

The vinoperfect line legit does nothing for my skin but my gf loves it and really sees overall improvement in her skin so this will go off to her. Proof that everything works different for everyone because we actually very similar skin types.

I love that there is always so much and such variety in my Macy’s box I really think its my favorite maybe tied for first with Boxycharm just because Boxy is always all full sizes.

Ipsy April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just one beauty junkie to another.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

I was surprised this showed up so early this month with everything going on I am really not sure if or when anything will be showing up.

The bag is very springy and the pull is made of wood which is really cute.

Space Case Bronzer in Fakecation On Mars

Full Size: 3.5 g

Full Size Cost: $9

Sample Size: 2.5 g

Value: $6.43

So Space Case doesn’t have any bronzers on their site but all their face products are the same weight and price so I based it off of the blushes. This is a really smooth bronzer but the color is just really weird. It is very warm and very orange. I don’t know that this will work for me but the packaging is so cute that I want to try.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Salt

Full Size: 246 ml

Full Size Cost: $53

Sample Size: 40 ml

Value: $8.62

So this will be my third jar of this product. This is like a two or three times a year product for me because I have dry hair and don’t use alot of styling products so I don’t get so much build up on my scalp. This will scrub your scalp and get it super like actually squeaky clean. It is very drying to your hair though like I am very careful to make sure it only stays on my roots and scalp and doesn’t get on the rest of my hair. This jar at this size legit last me a year because I need it so infrequently. Really good product and it smells nice and salty and beachy too.

Helios Luminor Nail Polish in Livin’ Lovely

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $12.50

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $12.50

I don’t ever wear nail polish but this is a super pretty dusty mauve that I will probably throw on my toys once and then it will sit in my dark cabinet for the rest of its life with the rest of the polish I own and don’t use lol.

Sugar Wingman Waterproof Microliner in 01 I’ll Be Black

Full Size: 0.55 ml ?

Full Size Cost: $15.99

Sample Size: 1.6 ml

Value: $15.99 ?

I have alot of confusion with this product. It is sold out and has a different name on the website so I don’t know if that is old packaging or this is old packaging. It also says that the full size is 0.55 ml (which is tiny) and this says it contains 1.6 ml, so I am guessing that is a typo and that this is a full size. I like Sugar eyeliners but I have too many open right now just to swatch a black liner.

Glossier Priming Rich Moisturizer

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $35

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $10.50

This is the item I chose this month, Glossier is a brand I always want to try but never want to take the risk in purchasing. This feels so luxurious on my skin. It is so smooth and feels so nice. It is scented though which may bother some people but it is a really clean scent that I happen to like. This is a really thick smooth primer and moisturizer combined. The most exciting thing in this months bag.

Other then the Glossier and the scrub the bag was just ok for me this month. But it was nice to have mail despite all that is going on.
