Boxycharm July 2017 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $21

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size  items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to.  It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for the reasonable price of $21 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

This months box was so good!!! I’m was so happy with it.

I’m pretty laid up with an injury right now so this was a nice treat.

The eye palette really makes it.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Lock Diary

Full Size: 3.2 g

Full Size Cost: $6

Sample Size: 3.2 g

Value: $6

This is from a collab Colourpop did with Hello Kitty so you can’t actually get this color anymore so I linked to another similar color. The card actually says we are supposed to receive the ultra matte lips but I received an ultra satin lip. I like the satin formula but the matte is more my preference as it is transfer proof and the satins are not. Still Colourpop is always great and affordable they make it so you can get some weird colors and not feel like you are spending an arm and a leg. This is a lot pinkier of a color then I go for but I will still try and use it maybe on top of something darker. Swatched Below.

Winky Lux Unibrow Eyebrow Pencil in Universal

Full Size: 0.28 g

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 0.28 g

Value: $12

I am not a huge fan of brow pencils I don’t really use them but this I have a weird fondness towards that makes me want to try it. Its probably the super adorable packaging. I love the Eye of Horus on the package. The spoolie is pretty shitty but that”s ok the actual product is nice. I it a bit hard at first but it warms up on the skin it is a little dark even for my dark brown brows so this is not a universal color like they claim. Swatched Below.

bareMinerals Invisible Light

Full Size: 9 g

Full Size Cost: $32

Sample Size: 9 g

Value: $32

This was incredibly hard to photograph it is white powder a matte and a glowy one. The matte one is very matte and the glowy one has a little swirl of color that doesn’t show up on the skin and has glitter in it. I’m not a huge fan of the glitter but I do really like this palette especially the concept of it even if the execution is not perfect for me. The powder is a little more full coverage then I would want in a translucent powder but it can be sheered out. These powders are so very soft I tried to get swatches but it is hard to see translucent powder. This is a great concept and packaging for travel you get both a glowy and matte powder in one compact unit with a huge mirror.

On the left we have the powders the top swatch is the glow powder and the bottom is the matte.

On the right we have the Lock Diary liquid lipstick on top and bottom is the Winky Lux Eyebrow Pencil. Swatched the pencil looks very ashy but on my eyebrows it does not look ashy at all it is a perfect undertone to look like real hair.

blinc x Boxycharm Electric Eyes Palette

Full Size: 11 g

Full Size Cost: $45

Sample Size: 11 g

Value: $45

Omg this is such a gorgeous palette. the pigmentation is insane I barely have to touch these. They are so smooth and creamy they have that kind of cream to powder type of feel its so lovely. Unfortunately the first and the fourth color look like the exact same color on me but that it ok it is still a pretty color.

This palette screams fall to me but I can’t wait to use it now even though it doesn’t totally fit the season in my opinion.

Project Beauty Spray.Set.Go Makeup Setting Spray

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $32

Sample Size: 2 oz

Value: $32

The packaging on this is really sleek and feels really nice and substantial but what the hell were they smoking to think this was worth $32. The nozzle sucks it sprays out in like a blast it  makes a huge mess of your make up its terrible. I am either going to have to transfer this to a different spray bottle or reserve it for foiling purposes only.

Total: $127

We got 5 full sized items this month. Honestly the Electric Eye palette made the box it is definitely one of the best things I have ever received in an subscription box. Overall every product in this box was a hit for me even if there were some execution problems with some of the products. Can’t wait to see what we get next month.

Walmart Summer 2017 Beauty Box Subscription Review

Walmart Beauty Box

Cost: $5

Cycle: Every Quarter/Season

What is it: Every season Walmart sends out a box of samples and sometimes coupons in their “free” subscription box. The box is a flat shipping rate of $5 and the box is considered free.  There are two categories of boxes “Trendsetter” which you receive if you provide a birth date that has you aged at under 35 and “Classic” if you provide a birth date that has you aged above 35.

Walmart always has consistently adorable packaging for $5 this is really such a fun box I am almost considering making another account so I can get the Classic box as well.

Here’s what this Summer’s Trendsetter box looks like.

They always send out such great reusable boxes. I love a good box lol some people don’t know what that means but people who get it these are good boxes.

8 products this month, a bit more substantial sizes then last season.

Impress One Step Gel Press-On Manicure

Full Size: 1 package

Full Size Cost: $4.50

Sample Size: 1 package

Total Value: $4.50

This alone is worth almost the cost of the box. I couldn’t find this exact one online it does say this is a gift and not for resale so this is some kind of sample but that it is ok. It is still the same size as a a for sale package. These are pretty cute but long nails are not really my thing. They have white nails with a few different accent nails, there are gold glitter, a gold glitter pattern and a one that has love written on it in a pretty script.

EcoTools Mask Remover Sponges

Full Size: 2 sponges

Full Size Cost: $2.50

Sample Size: 2 sponges

Total Value: $2.50

Another full size product. These are the thing in the box I was the most excited about. I got this wet with warm water like the instructions said and it was so rough on my face. I then really really soaked it in water and it expanded and got softer and then did a great job of removing my face mask I really liked it after that. It was decently exfoliating even those these are supposed to be gentle exfoliation. These are great and cheap so if you are into face masks these are worth a try just make sure to really soak them in water.

Wally’s Natural Organic Body Oil

Full Size: 2 oz

Full Size Cost: $8.88

Sample Size: 0.017 oz

Total Value: $0.08

I am always down to try a new body oil this is much nicer then the palmer’s oil from the last box. This has a nice light almost fruity smell and felt moisturizing but not greasy where I applied it. The full size is also a roll on which is really cool and useful if you want to use this on stretch marks.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

Full Size: 7 wipes

Full Size Cost: $1.47

Sample Size: 7 wipes

Total Value: $1.47

I have been dying to try these so these will be going straight in my travel bag for my vacation next month. You can read all about how I feel about them in my August empties. Shameless plug to have you check back and keep reading. This is also the full size travel version of these wipes to to me that makes a third full size product go Walmart they always create a great box for $5. we are already well over what I paid for the box.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Full Size: 12

Full Size Cost: $6.97

Sample Size: 1 oz

Total Value: $$0.58

I did not like this at all this has dimethicone in it to help lock in moisture I don’t need that much moisture so to me this makes me feel like I have gloves on or something. This is truly fragrance free no scent whatsoever so that is nice.

göt2b glued Styling Spiking Glue

Full Size: 6 oz

Full Size Cost: $3.99

Sample Size: 1.25 oz

Total Value: $0.83

I have no need for spiking glue I never use gel but my girlfriend was excited for it so this will be going to her.

Pantene Pro-V Dream Care Shampoo

Full Size: 30.4 oz

Full Size Cost: $6.99

Sample Size: 1.7 oz

Total Value: $0.39

Looks like Pantene, smells like Pantene must be Pantene. I don’t really use a lot of shampoo this is bound to get lost in a drawer somewhere.

Pantene Pro-V Dream Care Conditioner

Full Size: 23.7

Full Size Cost: $5.99

Sample Size: 1.7 oz

Total Value: $0.43

I love the little hook on this like you’re going to hook it to your key chain or something makes me laugh. This will probably get used at some point but I’m generally it excited about the shampoo and conditioner shampoo.

3 full sized items in a five dollar box is impressive and the value is more then double. Every one really should get this box. I really love the sponges and the wipes are so useful. The oil is going to be a great little thing to try.

Makeup: 0

Tools: 1

Hair Care: 3

What’s In My Trash (A.K.A. An Empties Post) June 2017

Once again super late sorry shit is just really busy and chaotic and falling apart and I barely have time to sleep let alone do things I enjoy. Not that I don’t love sleeping lol You can pry my bed out of my cold dead hands.  So lets get into it.

Here is everything for the month.

Makeup

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara this has the largest brush which is not something I like. This alos made my eyes kind of itchy and did not make my eyelashes look nice at all I might as well have put on nothing.

Repurchase: No

Farmacy Skin Dew this claims it is a setting spray but it did not function as one it did not make my makeup last longer and it sprays out very messy. I did like it as just a regular facial mist if I was hot or just needed a touch of moisture and I really enjoyed the herbally scent.

Repurchase: Maybe

Ulta Makeup Setting Spray this was a really good setting spray I think this may have been discontinued though.

Repurchase: Yes, if it isn’t discontinued.

Sephora Lip Balm this is $4 and the best Lip Balm every it is super luxe feeling and smells sweet and it is just great you do go through it fast though. I highly recommend this one.

Lotions

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Halloween Town Whipped Cream the scent on this was so yummy it was like a vanilla orange candy corn scent. I wish this was a permanent scent.

Repurchase: Yes

Palmer’s Coconut Facial Oil this was way to thick as a facial oil I would never put this o my oily skin. I tried using this on the dry skin on my hands and elbows but it did not absorb well. I ended up using it in my hair and it worked great as a hair oil but it is very thick.

Repurchase: No

Face Wipes

Studio 35 Makeup Remover Wipes picked these up on clearance they are the Walgreens house brand these really sucked they were too dry and did not remove makeup or dirt or anything.

Repurchase: No

Primark Makeup Removing Wipes we have discussed before these are pointless they do nothing buy the men’s wipes they are cheaper and work.

Repurchase: No

Ulta Cup Cake Scented Face Wipes these are not great for your skin but they smell nice are nice for just cleaning up sweat and stuff and they are just a cheap cute thing they come out with every Holiday season.

Repurchase: Yes

Skin Stuff

Primark Nose Pore Strips these legit did nothing they did not pull anything out of my skin.

Repurchase: No

Scinic Pore Refining Toner this was an ok toner I am really not picky about toner. It did last 6 months so that is a good long time for a bottle.

Repurchase: No

Perfume

Juicy Couture Travel Perfume I used up a little travel atomizer of from my favorite perfume line.

Repurchase: Yes

Burberry perfume this was eh got this sample in some Sephora order at some point.

Repurchase: No

Shaving

Crown Brow Blade this was my first experience with face/brow blades and I am in love they are great for cleaning up peach fuzz and quickly cleaning up around eye brows. This one is great and lasted a long time but it is expensive so I am exploring some inexpensive options.

Repurchase: No

Whish Pomegranate Shaving Cream I hated this it gave me the worst driest shave ever and I do not have sensitive or dry skin I can shave with just water and this was uncomfortable.

Repurchase: Not even if it was free.

Makeup Removing Stuff

Ulta Round Cotton Pads these were terrible they left fuzz every where and broke apart.

Repurchase: No

Ulta Eye Makeup Remover Pads  these I like a lot for cleaning up my eyes and under eyes when I’m doing my makeup they are not that great for actually taking off my makeup but perfect for cleaning up mistakes and fall out.

Repurchase: Yes

Another shitty month for accumulating empties things are really going down hill on the using up products front.
