Ipsy January 2022 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just the same link any subscriber would get.

You can choose one item in your bag every month which I really like. I will say the quality of the actual bag every month isn’t as consistent or as good as they have been in years past.

Well this month really sucked bad for me with Ipsy.

The pastel bag is super cute but really cheap feeling.

Elaina Badro Electroplated Blending Brush

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $20

Well this brush can’t be purchased. I have never heard of this brand but nothing they have nor the quality of this brush seems like it is par with the prices they are charging. It is cute and soft and I will use it but it isn’t $20.

Araceli Tequila Highlighter in Blanco

Full Size:

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 1.8 g

Value: $

I have no idea the value because I have no idea the size of the full size. Also I was excited for this love the concept of tequila and the the packaging is cute. But woah so unimpressive on I have so many beautiful highlighters I won’t be keeping this. Swatched Below.

Shades By Shan Bronzer in Walnut

Full Size:

Full Size Cost: $15

Sample Size: 3 g

Value: $

This is another one with no way to find out the full size cost and now I also think something a little sketchy is going on because these both feel a bit like not realy brands more like very indie at their infancy of creation and upon looking at one of the instagrams they were in a give away together and like hmmm little strange that these too tiny indie brands know each other and some how both show up in an ipsy bag together. Also this bronzer is orange as hell.

Both so bleh

Honey Jarret Lip Sleeping Mask in Lemon Honey

Full Size: 12 g

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 3 g

Value: $3

This was my choice for the month I love lemon and honey and lip masks and this smells so good. the only thing I am happy about in the bag really.

Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer in 29N Light Medium

Full Size: 10 ml

Full Size Cost: $29

Sample Size: 0.5 ml

Value: $1.45

Couldn’t even give a full ml huh. I just don’t care for shape tape or concealer in general. I have rated shape tape and Tarte low in the past so it isn’t great that they keep sending them to me.

Really just a shitty month for me.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

I really hate the bag this month it feels like really cheap astroturf mixed with crushed velvet ugh so gross.

First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub

Full Size: 8 oz

Full Size Cost: $28

Sample Size: 1 oz

Value: $3.50

This was my choice for the month and pretty much the only thing I’m interested in that I got. This is supposed to help with those bumps you can get on your arms. I don’t particularly get that but I thought and AHA scrub might just be nice on my skin and help it glow or something.

Lock It Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Pearl Black

Full Size: 0.5 g

Full Size Cost: $9

Sample Size: 0.7 g

Value: $12.60?

So many issues with this. First of all I am going to assume that the size is misprinted because this is clearly a mini pencil but it some how contains more product that the full size. No. Also my came all worn down like it had been used.

I just don’t even care to complain to Ipsy because I do not want a glittery black eyeliner that is just not a thing for me but this is pretty ridiculous. I am going to assume the pencil is actually 0.07 g making it $1.26 that feels more correct.

Sonage Luster Eye Creme

Full Size: 0.5 oz

Full Size Cost: $38

Sample Size: 0.25 oz

Value: $19

I don’t know what a matte eye cream is supposed to be that feels like so opposite the point of an eye cream.

Origins Ginzing Oil Free Energy Boosting Gel Moisturizer

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $32

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $9.60

I don’t like the Ginzing line so I’ll pass this along to some one. I just find the line to be sticky and not do anything and I just don’t care to waste my time on it.

Complex Culture Good Glow Blush in Glow Rush

Full Size: 11 g x 2 shades

Full Size Cost: $30

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $4.10

This is a very light pink shimmery blush that dies not work for me I like a deeper mauve or red or orange blush.

Really just not at all excited about this box.

I fucking love the bag this month it is so cute with the lips and the fangs and the lime green and the lime green lipstick pull I am in love.

F.A.R.A.H. Concealer Brush 10F

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $10

This is fine. I don’t love the quality of F.A.R.A.H. brushes I find them to feel really cheap and not preform as well as other brushes in the same or cheaper price ranges.

Sugar Cosmetics Plush Crush Creme Crayon in 05 Mauve Mama

Full Size: 1.8 g

Full Size Cost: $15.99

I am not even going to open this so that I can pass it on fresh to some one I don’t care for creme lip products and I have not had great experiences with Sugar cosmetics I am unenthused by everything I have tried from this brand.

Pistache Skincare Pistachio Oil Hydrating Hand Cream

Full Size: 71 ml

Full Size Cost: $18

Sample Size: 20 ml

Value: $5.07

This was my choice for the month. I have had this from Ipsy before and I had really enjoyed it so I wanted the chance to have it again. It smells like pistachios and just gives me all the happy nostalgia feels.

Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub Ruby Crystal Microderm Exfoliator

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $38

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $11.40

I very much enjoy this brand and their products they really seem to work for me so I like getting to try all different ones of them through Ipsy.

Real Her Power Wear Blush in Not Your Average

Sample Size: 2.5 g

I have all kinds of problems with this product like first of all I don’t like this brand. Second of this product doesn’t actually exist for sale so it is likely left over old product since this is one of those companies that changes out and discontinues products often in my experience. I don’t like the color either it is very pink but dusty in real life.

3 of 5 things I will keep but the bag I love so that kinda makes up for it. I wish there had been a more Halloween theme to the products in the bag that would have been really fun.
