What’s in My Trash? 2021 Year End Wrap Up

So my goal was 400 products and $3,500 in value and succeed with 450 and $3,930.84!!

Final Results

Compared to 2020

I did better in every category which is amazing. That is really what I wanted. I feel like so much stuff comes into my life and it feels like I am never using enough to get ahead let alone catch up. I know more then 394 new things have come into my life. I really want to focusing on reducing category totals overall so that will be part of this years goals.

Final Totals By Category:

Things that stand out to me:

Well I decluttered exactly double as much as I decluttered last year for whatever that information is worth.

Dear god I need to spend less on candles.

Skincare is so like my most consistent category and all prices and percentages are so close every year, I don’t know what that says about me either.

Also I really love a bougie lip balm and I need to cool it with that. I justify it because I actually finish them and really enjoy it the whole time but I have enough I have 42 lip balms/scrubs/lip masks etc and that is insane. I would need to use up 3 to 4 a month to use them up in a year and I use up like 1 a month. I have nearly a 4 yr supply that is crazy person status.

And Now for Some Pie Charts

Skincare still about a third that is apparently just where I sit which is fine with me. Lip and Perfume are tied for last place last year they were second to last and last place respectively. Declutter moved up to second place and it is nice to have four categories that broke double digits.

Most value out of my Skincare, Home Scents, and Perfume use. Last year makeup had made it into the top 3 but I got the same value out of it so that’s good. I wish it was more though.

I don’t really have any interesting insights other then I need to stop buying candles for awhile.

So 2022 Goals, I really really want to focus on maintaing and reducing my collection overall. I am really maxing out space and it is not great for me. I plan on doing a declutter of my makeup (slowly) over the next twoish months so that will move alot out. But I will be keeping track of the category totals of my collection month to month. To see how I am doing and be more conscious of what I am bringing in.

Also I want to stretch myself to $4000 goal this year. I don’t think I am going to make an exact monthly item goal I want to be using about 100 items a quarter or the same 400 items a year.

Boxycharm December 2021 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

So Boxycharm has raised the prices again and I have made the decision to cancel. I don’t feel like I am getting enough value or joy out of it anymore. I have yet to decide what or if I will replace it.

Mudmasky Mineral-Infused Bubble Cleansing Mask

Full Size: 75 ml

Full Size Cost: $59

This was a whole roller coaster first I was not interested in it when I saw it because I am so sick og mud masks. But then I was reading the instructions and it actually more like a cleansing mud that you only leave on for a few mins and it acts as your faces wash and a mask and that is so much more intriguing but then I saw that it is $59 and that is straight ridiculous for this amount of a cleanser.

Algenist Triple Eye Renewal Balm

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $68

This was my choice for the month it seems really silky and moist and I think I am going to like it.

Blinc Ultra Volume Tubing Mascara

Full Size: 9 ml

Full Size Cost: $26

I have always wanted to try a tubing mascara so I am really happy that I am going to get the chance to now since I can’t and wont buy mascara I have at least a 4 years supply worth of mascara. These come of with just warm water and are supposed to just slide of and after I finish up another tube of my hourglass that I love but is an actual nightmare to take off this feels like it might be a nice break for my lashes.

Sophia + Mabelle Satin Powder Highlighter in Peach Sangria

Full Size: 3.2 g

Full Size Cost: $22

This is too dark for me but my main problem with it is this doesn’t read as a highlight it has no transcluceny to it it is a pretty opaque base which is a weird choice for a highlighter this almost feels like a shimmer eyeshadow.

Seraphine Botanicals Luna Liner

Full Size: 2 g

Full Size Cost: $18

I just don’t need another black liquid eyeliner. I just don’t.

I don’t know if February or March is going to be my last box but we are at the final countdown now.

Total: $193

Boxycharm November 2021 Subscription Box Review

Well a much more interesting Boxycharm this month which is good. So lets crack into it.

Glow Oasis Milkdew pH Balancing Moisture Milk Toner

Full Size: 120 ml

Full Size Cost: $34

I am not really a toner person but this one seems really intriguing I don’t know it if it is just because the bottle is so nice and heavy and that frosted glass it just feels super fancy and looks super nice. This has vegan probiotics which is also really cool I have liked probiotics for my skin so this may turn out being great for me.

Bodyography Makeup Brush Cleanser

Full Size: 118 ml

Full Size Cost: $10

I don’t really spot clean my brushes I rather just switch brushes but I will pass this on and some one will be thrilled to have it and make use of it. I just don’t like using that much alcohol on my brushes when I don’t have to and dry them out.

Luxie Por La Noche Brush Set

Full Size: 3 brushes

Full Size Cost: $40

This was my choice for the month, I love Luxie brushes alot they are some of my favorites I love the quality and the feel they wash well they apply makeup well this color scheme is really interesting really gives me Art Deco / Cuban vibes very cool This set includes:
LUXIE 514 Blush Face Brush

LUXIE 211 Concealer Brush

LUXIE 207 Medium Angled Brush

I have the 514 and the 211 and use them all the time so it is nice to have more in other colors.

Violet Voss Violet Sunset Pro Series Eye Shadow and Pigment Palette

Full Size: 10 shades, 13 g

Full Size Cost: $36

So many thoughts, first of all this is not the color scheme my mind goes to for violet sunsets this is more like soft spring sunsets rather then like violet bright sunset colors. Also I would not ever recommend spending full price on Violet Voss palettes ever they are not worth the price they charge they are nice but not that much better or smoother then a Colourpop for half the price. That said they are smooth and pretty and a little more vibrant on then they are in the pan.

I don’t know how much use I will get out of this but it is a pretty palette to have around.

Rockins Cosmetics Hot Mess Threesome Glitter Gel Pens

Full Size: 3 crayons, 4 g each

Full Size Cost: ~$33.49, $25 GBP

Ok well this seems like a super cool company really into that old grungey rock style of the 70s and 80s which I can totally vibe with. But also not totally my prefered makeup style most of the time even though I am here for that music and style all the time. This is that really greasy smudgey thick eye pencils that sorta migrate all over and really give that lived in careless grungey look. I will say the black and the green seem to preform pretty well but the blue is seriously inconsistent and not as opaque and doesn’t smudge as nicely it looks more messy then intentionally messy. These will be interesting to play around with.

I at least like how unique and varied these products are. I like getting weird and interesting makeup.
