Boxycharm April 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

So I some how never got a selection email for April and wasn’t allowed to choose an item which was super unfortunate because I did not get what I would have wanted. Oh well. This was a super weird but also good box though since I got three tools which are great and some of my favorite things to get but also weird with the lack of variety.

Benefit The Porefessional Hydrate Primer

Full Size: 22 ml

Full Size Cost: $32

I love this primer but I have so many I wasn’t going to buy it but then I got it here so that’s amazing. This is pore filling in the same way the original one is (well maybe a touch less pore filling) but it is thinner and much less dry so it doesn’t chunk up like the original can. I really think this one is much better than the original.

Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Hydration Juice

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $48

This was one of the choice items, not something I am into I really don’t care for stuff with a ton of aloe in it. Its not as sticky as normal aloe gels are but i already know I am going to use this up as a chest and neck moisturizer because I don’t enjoy stuff like this on my face. I don’t care how bougie it is to use a $48 serum on my chest and neck I have it and I should use it the way I want.

The Original Makeup Eraser in Sunset

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $20

How insanely pretty is this rainbowy Makeup Eraser?!?! Now I am kinda really hoping they do a pride flag one I would be so on that shit. I like Makeup Erasers alot they are really really soft. I still use makeup remover but I just love how soft these are and they feel so gentle I love them alot. This colorway is not for sale anymore so I linked to another pretty one but they are all the same price.

Hank & Henry Midori Beauty Sponge Bundle

Full Size: 1 Large Sponge 1 Small Sponge

Full Size Cost: $20

I like the shape of these sponges I find points and edges to be really useful. The smaller sponge is softer and squishier but they are both pretty soft. I love the little owl/bird face in the bigger sponge so cute and lime green is one of my favorite colors so super happy.

Lavish 5 Piece Neon Eye Brush Collection

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $29.99

I love the size of these brushes they are super tiny and I love tiny brushes they are great for detail work and smaller eyes. The colors are also super fun. But this is a brand I have never heard of and the site is a bit weird it feels very much like private labeled brushes that you could get else where for much much cheaper.

Alot of tools this month which I’m not made at just there was a distinct lack of variety. The Makeup Eraser was the definite stand out for me. Lower value than Boxycharm has been lately as well.

Boxycharm January 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

How is everyone holding up? I hope you are all safe and healthy and have toilet paper lol. Shits really real right now but let’s have this be a nice little mindless escape from all of that and relax with some very odd products from Boxycharm. Boxycharm also didn’t send me a card this month and I saw a review that also had that problem this month and that is an extra big issue when I get to the second item I talk about.

Chella Slanted Tip Tweezers

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $20

I don’t think these are worth $20 and this is not the first time they have sent me tweezers it just seems like an odd thing. I don’t love these I feel like they are really had to squeeze because I am not used to the weird middle. I know it is supposed to be easier to hold but I don’t feel like there should be a hole it in because it is just awkward to hold.

QMS Medicosmetics Lip Line Corrector

Full Size: 15 ml

Full Size Cost: $200

This thing. I chose this thing because it sounded interesting I had no idea it was $200 dollars. That is one of those prices that I like have a really hard believing is a real price and that any one pays that it seems so inflated. There is nothing particularly special in the ingredient listing. Since they didn’t send the box and there is no ingredient list on the packaging I looked it up and found that this also has nuts in it I feel like that allergy warning should be on the bottle as well as on a card in the box that is super serious and could be really dangerous to some one.

Becca Glow Gloss in Camellia

Full Size: 5 g

Full Size Cost: $22

I hate lip gloss and I hate pink this is just not for me. I am tossing up between giving this away and just saving it for using on other people I haven’t really decided yet. Swatched Below.

KVD Vegan Beauty (Formerly Kat Von D Beauty) Metal Crush Liquid Highlighter in Helix

Full Size: 1.8 ml

Full Size Cost: $12

So if you keep up with beauty world drama Kat Von D finally got bought out of her dying brand and it has been renamed KVD Vegan Beauty, which this supposedly is, expect we all know this is a highlighter left over because her name is still on the side of the box and this is being clearance out on Sephora it was was $25 and is now $12. I know boxes are always going to send things that have been removed from certain stores and things like that they have to make their profit but this seems like throwing it right in our faces that we are getting bargain bin items.

It is obvious why this brand was dying 1.8 ml for $25 dollars that’s so insane that is so expensive. I thought I was going to hate this but it is actually really pretty on it really does look like crushed up sparkle almost like shard of glass on the skin it is so intense and really pretty. Swatched Below.

Hank and Henry Living in Color Palette

Full Size: 0.8g x 9 shades

Full Size Cost: $27

This is so late 80s early 90s that it physically hurts me. I hate and love everything about this palette. I think its really funny that is suggests doing your eye shadow with your fingers since like that’s what you woulda done back that its cute.I feel like in the palette it doesn’t look like much it looks slightly more exciting swatched. It isn’t my color story per say but it is a useful pretty cohesive palette.

Just a weird assortment of products like it felt weirs to me this month maybe its just that I;m in a weird mood with everything going on I don’t it was just super weird box for me with the ridiculously priced serum. At least I got makeup this month I feel like its been forever since I have gotten makeup.

Boxycharm February 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Winter came back with a vengeance and I am so cold that even the short while I need to be out from under the blanket to write this is physically painful.

Ciate London Everyday Vacay Coconut Setting Powder

Full Size: 15 g

Full Size Cost: $22

So this is the stiffest powder I have ever felt. Like I didn’t know a powder could feel so stiff and dry it is weird. It also says it is coconut scented but it isn’t. Pretty packaging though and this is a brand new just launched product so that makes it a bit cooler to see in here.

Alamar Cosmetics Complexion Brush Trio

Full Size: 3 brushes

Full Size Cost: $36

This is a very interesting set of brushes. First I don’t like that they are all labeled with what they are “supposed” to be used for because it seems misleading. The littlest brush is labeled a brightening brush which is just an odd thing to call a brush it is either a highlighting brush or an under eye setting brush but it is a bit dense for either of those uses. Then the brush that is labeled bronzer is more of a foundation brush. It has all the bumps on it that make it uneven so it would make bronzer super patchy. It is super weird.

Kate Somerville Kx Active Concentrates Bio-Mimicking Peptides Serum

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $98

This was the item I chose and I am definitely getting my moneys worth with these picks. This was pretty sticky on but I am hoping it will help make my skin appear smoother and refreshed like it claims. Kate Somerville products have a good reputation but I have never had the chance to try any of their more expensive more interesting products.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Full Size: 28 pads

Full Size Cost: $17

These I have tried before and they are pretty unimpressive they are like grown up Oxypads. I find them to be pretty drying so I will hold off using these till the summer. I have never used them longer then a week or two but I can’t say I saw any brightening other then just removing dirt and oil from my face.

Evioskin x Aurora Refreshing Cleansing Hemp Wipes

Full Size: 30 Wipes

Full Size Cost: $14

Travel Size: 15 Wipes

Cost: $10

These are currently totally sold out but we don’t get wipes in boxes often so even though these are the travel size I am pretty thrilled to get some new ones to try. Everything has hemp or cbd in it these days since it is the hot new trend but still a win.

Another month of a very skincare heavy box but I am not going to complain about that. Though I am hoping for some fun makeup next month. I love getting brushes because who wants to pay for them.
