This was a very disappointing Ipsy month for me and very pink.

When I initially saw this bag online I did not like it but in person it is much cuter. It is a comic book style and a nice canvas pouch I really like it.

NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in Plush

Full Size: 8 ml

Full Size Cost: $4.20

Sample Size: 8 ml

Value: $4.20

I do not like the Nyx Whipped formula it is too moussey and does not dry down it just slides every where I am not a fan. The colors are also all so girly and light they are not my style. Plush is a very soft pink color which was pretty much the theme of this bag this month. Pink being my least favorite makeup color. Swatched Below.

Luna by Luna Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Jace

Full Size: 1.5 g

Full Size Cost: $15

Sample Size: 1.5 g

Value: $15

A pink eyeshadow this builds well and is very soft but is not a color that would look good or show up well on me so this is getting passed on to a friend. Swatched Below.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in M-10

Full Size: 1.2 g

Full Size Cost: $21

Sample Size: 0.8 g

Value: $14

This is a great black eyeliner I do have like two other samples of this though it is a pretty common sample to get. It is very matte, very black and very long wearing everything you want in an eyeliner. Swatched Below.

Eyeliner, Eyeshadow, Nyx Whipped.

Kokie Cosmetics Nail Polish in Gone Rio

Full Size: 0.54 oz

Full Size Cost: $4.98

Sample Size: 0.54 oz

Value: $4.98

This is a pinky coral nail polish which is great for the summer. I don’t ever paint my nails so this is also getting passed on to a friend. The bottle is adorable though I love the cap.

Biorepublic Green Tea Detox Sheet Mask

Full Size: 3 mask

Full Size Cost: $7.49

Sample Size: 1 mask

Value: $2.50

I love a good sheet mask so this is a welcome addition. I use sheet masks much more in the summer so this is a great time to get one.

Biorepublic Aloe Rescue Sheet Mask

Full Size: 3 mask

Full Size Cost: $7.49

Sample Size: 1 mask

Value: $2.50

I don’t really like aloe masks but I will use it all the same if my skin is ever feeling irritated.

Not the best value this month and not the greatest color selection for me. You get to review all your items and your bag every month and this was the lowest rating I have ever given an Ipsy bag. Even though I still got my money’s worth with the sheet masks and the eyelinerI am still not happy with this month.

What’s In My Trash? (A.K.A. An Empties Post) May 2017

I know its already the end of June but here are my May empties. I’ll get back on track soon. When who knows but eventually.

Makeup

First up is 6 Ulta Matte Lip Creams that I am decluttering. I really hated the formula on these they feel super nice and creamy when you put them on but they ever dry down and never get totally matte they just aren’t what I want in a liquid lipstick. These are more like a melted matte lipstick sort of like the melted lipsticks from Too Faced which I am also not a fan of. These are getting passed on to a new home with my mom who actually really likes this formula.

Repurchase: No

Carmex Chapstick this is my favorite chapstick for when my lips are really dry and cracked this is a medicated lip balm and a staple for me in the winter.

Repurchase: Yes, already have

Rimmel Stay Matter Foundation this felt like it was going to be really nice when I was applying it but it was way to dry even for my oily skin it caked up and emphasized my pores and just did not settle on my skin in a flattering way at all.

Repurchase: No

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Sample in Backtalk this is the perfect mauvy nude color for my skin tone and a really comfortable no drying matte formula not long wearing on transfer proof but it is a matte for like the summer or when you’re lips are too dry for liquid lipstick. I will eventually be picking this up in a full size.

Repurchase: Yes

Lotions

Dove Energy Glow Lotion this was gross it didn’t sink into my skin well and did not tan at all. It had a weird thin formula and then stained the crap out of the bottle it was just a mess.

Repurchase: No

Fortune Cookie Soap Company whipped creams I have 2 this month. As usual I love these its very rare for me to dislike one of these and then its usually just a scent preference issue. I go through at least one of their lotions a month. They are great the Bonjour whipped cream from the Beauty and the Beast collection was baby blue and pick it was very cute.

Repurchase: Yes

Exfoliators

Philosophy microdelivery exfoliating face wash this was terrible it didn’t exfoliate and felt like I was rubbing sand and water on my face. There are so many better products for much cheaper out there like the next product I used.

Repurchase: No

Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam this I loved I love all baking powder and baking soda cleanser they work well for my skin and this was not exception I would consider picking this up if I could find it some where. It exfoliates well with out totally stripping my skin.

Repurchase: Yes

Perfume

I used 2 Replica Perfume samples in Beach Walk and Lazy Sunday Morning. These are very much those scents that are supposed to be familiar to real life scents. They are cool but I like them more as linen sprays then actual perfume and that is what I used them for.

Repurchase: No

Hair Care

Obliphic Seaberry Hair Serum this smelled really weird and did not dissipate quickly. It also says for fine hair but weighed down my hair so much it was so heavy and had that really intense silicone feel to it this was just too much I feel lie you would need really course or curly hair for this to work for you.

Repurchase: No

Batiste dry shampoo I know this is supposed to be the holy grail not expensive dry shampoo but this did not work for me it smells like chemicals it made my hair sticky it did not last as long as my DryBar one that I love. The only good part is that it left less of a white cast.

Repurchase: No

Living Proof Timeless pre-shampoo treatment this smelled horrible like it had gone bad I hated using it. I also don’t feel like it did anything at all for my hair either negative or positive.

Repurchase: No

Shaving Cream

Skintimate Wintercare Shaving cream this came in a limited edition holiday set it smelled like floral berries which I hated and it was not a great shave cream it was pretty dry and not smooth at all.

Repurchase: No

Household Scents

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Room Spray in Zombie Repellent this smelled so good like a carnival and fall and so yummy I loved this to the last drop it is sad that these are only small runs so if you love  scent you can’t get it again.

Repurchase: Yes

Yankee Candle Honey Clementine Fragrance Spheres I used these in my car and they were pretty great lasted about 5 weeks and smelled like a sweet citrus. I enjoyed it and would consider purchasing again in the future.

Repurchase: Yes

Including my declutter it is not my best month and June is shaping up to be worse but oh well this is supposed to be a fun challenge not something to make my self miserable about. I am still consistently using things up and moving things out of my collection that I do not enjoy so it is going great. Almost halfway through the year and already almost at my goal of 180 products!

Sephora Play! May 2017 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

Well let’s pretend I am not totally behind on my reviews 😛

I really like this clear plastic bag that snaps shut. It is really different then any bag I have ever gotten in a subscription box before. Also I know its not but it really looks like I got way more stuff then usual it was a really stuffed bag.

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser

Full Size: 125 ml

Full Size Cost: $45

Sample Size: 30 ml

Value: $10.80

Oh I am so excited to try this and it really is an amazing large sample size for Sunday Riley. I am always excited for clay anything my skin loves clay I am saving this for when it starts to get a little warmer and my skin and pores get even worse. This is meant to clean out pores and I am sure it’ll do a great job.

sure it’ll do a great job.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt

Full Size: 2.7 oz

Full Size Cost: $19

Sample Size: 1.35 oz

Value: $9.50

I actually have a sample of this somewhere that I never got around to trying so I guess Sephora really wants me to try this product. I don’t use purifying things on my hair more than like 2 or 3 times a year I find them too drying but next time it is time for me to use one I will try this one.

Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper

Full Size: 0.5 oz

Full Size Cost: $27

Sample Size: 0.1 oz?

Value: $5.40

This did sting a little and made the outside of my lips a little red but was not unbearable and definitely did plump my lips. Normally I am not into plumping products but this on I think I might actually like it was more of a moisturizing plumper then a stinging type plumper. And for a gloss it was not super glossy either. There was no size on this so I am approximately guessing that it is 0.1 oz or 1/5th of full size.

Replica Perfume in Beach Walk

Full Size: 100 ml

Full Size Cost: $126

Sample Size: 1.2 ml

Value: $1.51

It smells beach and typical girl smell I do like it but not my favorite scent I’ve ever sampled and definitely not at that price point.

Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone

Full Size: 0.1 oz

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 0.088 oz

Value: $21.12

I love the formula on this it is so creamy but still matte and really lasts well but this 90s brown I just don’t know if I can pull it out but they name is super cute (Weird NJ anyone?). I am super interested in picking up some other colors like Burgundy or Vino. This is also almost full size which I love when Sephora does that they don’t often but it is so nice when it happens. Swatched below.

treStique Mini Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent

Full Size: 6.1 g

Full Size Cost: $34

Sample Size: 1.1 g

Value: $6.13

This is another very pretty highlight this is a pinky champagne that will be pretty as highlighter or eyeshadow and treStique has such cute packaging. I did not know they were sold at Sephora. Swatched below.

That lipstick feels so nice but that color I don’t know if I can do it. And the highlight looks gorgeous on my skintone.

This is a very high value for Sephora Play! I really liked the curation on this box and the sizes are great which doesn’t always happen with this box. I am super please with this month’s. June’s box looks like it might not be that great from spoilers I have seen but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
