Sephora Play! June 2017 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

So I had a real disaster this month (not Sephora’s fault) and their were a few casualties with my Sephora Play! Box. So it is story time.

A colony of ants decided to move into my mail box and they infested my mail like in the span of a day. they also completely set up shop inside my box it was a legit nightmare I hate bugs.

My dad had to open my box and like kill all the bugs for me because I am legitimately that terrified of bugs.

The ants ruined the little pouch that the make up comes in and they got all inside of the perfume sample so I threw those products out and don’t have any pictures or a review for that obviously the other items were packed really well and the ants weren’t able to infiltrate so I was happy about that.

Here’s what I was able to salvage which is all the products just no bag of perfume.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield

Full Size: 1 oz

Full Size Cost: $65

Sample Size: 0.17  oz

Value: $11.05

This is pretty cool it is a anti-aging treatment with spf that can be a primer or just worn alone. I always enjoy trying Murad products since they are so pricey. I am worried this will make me greasy and break out since moisurizers and sunscreens usually do.

Bumble and Bumble Bb Don’t Blow it

Full Size: 60 ml

Full Size Cost: $15

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $2

I don’t have fine hair for starters, but I usually like fine hair products since they don’t weigh down my hair or make me feel like I have tons of product residue in my hair. This is meant to put into your hair as your air drying it to reduce frizz and I will be trying out asap I love products like that.

Briogeo Curl Charisma

Full Size: 6 oz

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 0.75 oz

Value: $2.50

So this is basically the same type of product as the the bumble and bumble product. Seems a little repetitive to me. But again I am happy to try it and Briogeo products cost alot less them bumble and bumble so that is a plus if they both work well.

Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer in Medium

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $36

Sample Size: 7.5 ml

Value: $5.40

I don’t think this is the greatest match for me but it will probably be sheer enough to work for me. I have been into tinted moisturizers when I want some light makeup but I don’t see this competing with my Urban Decay Beauty Balm one that I am obsessed with. This has spf 20 hence the Tarteguard 20 name. Swatched Below.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub

Full Size: 6.6 ml

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 3 ml

Value: $9.09

I hate this color. With a passion. I was hoping for the more nude color they were sending out. But I gave this to a friend and it has a loving home now. Other then that the formulas on these are great but if you want to save money the Sephora lip creams are the EXACT same formula and have a ton of color options so unless there is a specific special color you love from KVD buy the Sephora ones. Its is $14 vs $20. Swatched Below.

As you can see the lip color is very pink and the foundation is a little warm and orangey.

Alien Perfurme

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $39.99

Sample Size: 1.2 ml

Value: $1.60

Well I don’t have an opinion on the scent or a picture but I can still include it in the value. Not that it adds much this perfume is really old and has reached discount seller pricing at most places. Shame on you Sephora.

As I was worried this month really sucked. Nothing was particularity exciting and it was all fairly low valued. I’m not overly excited about any of the products and won’t get much use out of this months box. They really failed this month.
