Macy’s Beauty Box November 2020 Subscription Box Review

Macy’s Beauty Box

Cost: $15

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon (sometimes $10), 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it. Lately we have been getting between 6 and 8 items per month you never really know how many things you are going to get.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool since they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely seen in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online also Macy’s does have sales and $5 products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but it is still basically free.

This month’s bag was so bad that i have been dreading putting in the work to review it. Like i have a replacement item that sucks in comparison to what I should have gotten, probable missing items with no way to contact Macy’s about it. Repeat items and a just plain awful item that should not be in a box that people pay money for like I pretty much am not happy with anything from this box. This is a mess of a box.

Jockey True Fit Promise One Size Hipster Underwear

Full Size: 1 pair

Full Size Cost: $11.50

Sample Size: 1 pair

Value: $5.99

I really wish Macy’s wouldn’t send underwear this is not one size fits all how would that even bee possible with underwear and it really is kinda awkward and weird. I don’t like these.

Tan Towel Half-Body Tan in Fair to Medium Skin Tones

Full Size: 10 Towels

Full Size Cost: $29.99

Sample Size: 1 Towel

Value: $2.99

Well they sent us half a tan. Like wtf at least send two so people have the full body option if they want it. Also this is wildly inappropriate for November. I just am really let down by Macy’s this month.

Dermablend Loose Setting Powder

Full Size: 28 g

Full Size Cost: $29

Sample Size: 3 g

Value: $3.11

It is a fine translucent powder but they have definitely sent this before. Big Sigh. Its the laziness for me.

SK-II Pitera Facial Treatment Essence

Full Size: 160 ml

Full Size Cost: $185

Sample Size:30 ml

Value: $34.69

So I have had this before can’t remember if it was from Sephora Play! or from Macy’s but it is really expensive for something that I felt did absolutely nothing. But I guess I’ll give it another go. I know this has a cult following so some people are probably thrilled to have this because of the price but I don’t care for it.

PYT Plumping Gloss

Full Size: 0.2 oz

Full Size Cost: $13.94

Sample Size: 0.08 oz

Value: $5.58

A boring clear gloss. Its plumping i don’t know what else to expound on with this.

Skin Reset 4-Week Intensive Rejuvenation System Set

Full Size: 36 ml

Full Size Cost: $139

Sample Size: 4 ml

Value: $15.44

This is kinda ridiculous to include as an item. I don’t care that it is technically worth $15 like it is a a one time use foil packet for a system that will only work if you use it the way it is intended. So weird. this is like a free sample.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Cologne

Full Size: 74 ml

Full Size Cost: $73

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $1.48

This smells nice I am excited for my girlfriend to wear it. It is a summer scent though this is not appropriate for a November box.

Thierry Mugler Angel Eau Croisiere

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $84

Sample Size:1.2 ml

Value: $2.02

I don’t like any Mugler perfumes they all smell like a headache to me. The bottle on this is kinda pretty being a rainbow star but that also feels like summer vibes to me.

This box really was not up to par this month I am completely dissatisfied it feels like all random leftovers from the summer months when they put the box on pause.

Boxycharm November 2020 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $25

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to. It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for $25 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box. Boxycharm also joined the customization train and you can choose between a few items to have one in your box for the month. I really like that because Boxycharm was getting to the point where I was only liking one thing in my box and even though the value was there the fun wasn’t anymore.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

I am so sorry this is so late. This month has been so so busy and has really gotten away from me. I still have a Macy’s review to come too and that is like a whole thing and I just have not been prepared.

I got the Natasha Denona palette! Happy squeal like these aren’t my go to colors but her shadows blend and last so well that it makes me really happy. I almost never get the really exciting option from Boxy so this is very exciting to me.

Natasha Denona Peak Palette

Full Size: 2.5 g x 5 Shades

Full Size Cost: $48

I can’t find this anywhere to link it leading me to believe that this is discontinued and how it ended up in a Boxycharm. Either way it is really nice her shadows are very thick like you can really feel them when you are working with them in a good way it is a pretty unique texture. Her metallic shades really do look very reflective. This is a very orange toned palette swatched but visually it looks like it is going to be pink but it does really lean very orange and fall toned.

Beauty Creations Boudoir Shadows Palette

Full Size: 13.5 g

Full Size Cost: $9.99

So I swear I have seen this palette at 5 below. Either way Beauty Creations is one of those very affordable brands you see at like Walmart or 5 Below that you think of as make up you buy for preteens. I am not going to swatch this because I wouldn’t ever use this. I can’t comment on the quality it might be great I have no way of knowing I am so not interested.

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer

Full Size: 10 ml

Full Size Cost: $17

So I was super excited for this because I love fancy lip balms so much it is such a guilty pleasure but i was reading about this and it has a rose scent. Even though it is artificial (I checked the ingredients) and shouldn’t cause an allergic reaction I don’t like rose scents because my brain associates them with allergic reactions. So sad I am going to pass this on though and some one will be super happy.

Royal & Langnickel Moda Ultimate Eye Sculptors Brush Set

Full Size: 2 Brushes

Full Size Cost: $9.00

These are so some of my favorite brushes so I am so happy to have more from this brand, not that i need more I think I have easily 50 brushes from this brand. I love the moda line especially. I have a bunch of the crease brushes highly recommend. This triad brush that come in this set is so cool and I am really excited to play with it it is such a unique shape I feel like it would be great for concealer under the eye.

Peach & Lily Power Calm Hydrating Cleanser

Full Size: 100 ml

Full Size Cost: $28

I am almost out of the last gentle hydrating cleanser Boxy sent me and I loved it so so much that I have alot of faith in this cleanser too even though they are not related at all I just have a feeling this is going to be really good.

It is kinda weird that they sent two neutral eye shadow palettes but whatever. I was really happy with the Peak palette and the brushes and the cleanser so the fail of the other two items really doesn’t matter that much to me.

Ipsy November 2020 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $12 monthly, $132 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. You can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 300 points and 1000 points. You can get around 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just one beauty junkie to another.

You can now customize your bag and pick out one sample per month that will get to be in your bag which is a pretty nice change even though it came with a price increase.

Meh this month didn’t really like this bag though I know some people will like it because it is pretty classy and simple. I also wasn’t super impressed with what I got this month either.

Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $39

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $7.80

This is very light but also really dewy and a bit greasy not a huge fan at all.

Avette Coconut Mild Foam Cleanser

Full Size: 150 ml

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 15 ml

Value: $1.20

A simple face wash not complaining but also not exciting and the value is super low on this.

MOTD A Perfect 10 Brush

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $22

This was my pick for the month it is super soft and fluffy but it is really big I wish it was just a bit smaller or a bit more domed it is just a little off in shape for my personal tastes.

Context Matte Lipstick in 102 Sweet Emotion

Full Size: 3.4 g

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 2.4 g

Value: $14.12

This is a very pretty rusty color but it isn’t really matte at all. It has a really nice shape that hugs your lips as well but that will get worn down pretty fast I think. This is also supposed to be “non-toxic” which is a pretty bs claim all real makeup is non toxic. Swatched Below.

TreStique Line, Sharpen + Smudge Eye Pencil in Santorini Black Sand

Full Size: 0.3 g

Full Size Cost: $19

Sample Size: 0.3 g

Value: $19

This seems like a pretty nice black eyeliner not that they don’t send 75 million black eyeliners. I don’t care for the little smudge thing on the end that really isn’t the best or most hygienic way to smudge eyeliner but it is fine I can ignore that. This is also retractable but also has a sharpener they really shoved everything into this liner. I just really think TreStique packaging is so cute how they make it look like crayons.

Overall a pretty boring collection of products but it is what it is.
