Apocalyptic Beauty Starter Kit

Apocalyptic Beauty

Apocalyptic Beauty is this really cool indie makeup company that makes different loose shadows, scented settings sprays, liquids lips all sorts of things. They have really creative names and cute packaging and good prices.

I had heard a lot about their setting sprays and this company in general from a smaller YouTuber I really like BiohazardousBeauty shes does the most gorgeous makeup. I really wanted the Hot Cocoa Setting spray because I love chocolate scents they are my total favorite but I didn’t want to just buy on item. I couldn’t decide what to get so I decided to just get the starter mystery kit to try out a few different things. The Hot Cocoa Setting spray smells so damn good though like I want my whole life to smell like that.

Please excuse the horrible picture quality my camera broke the day I was taking these pictures oops life happens its annoying for me too.

Apocalyptic Beauty Starter Kit

Cost: $25

Promised Value: $44+

Items: 2 looses eyeshadows (1 matter, 1 shimmer), 1 glitter blend, 1 face product, 1 travel size setting spray, 1 mixing medium, 1 lip product, 1 lip balm, and one additional item

Cosmetic Alchemy Mixing Medium

Full Size: 10 ml and a mixing pod

Full Size Cost: $4.85

Sample Size: 10 ml

Total Value: $4.40

So this is a full size mixing medium but does not come with a mixing pod like it would if you bought it so I knocked off the price of the mixing pod.  I have wanted a mixing medium for a while but never really took the plunge to buy one. I struggle with using loose pigments because they are just so messy but I really want to use the pigments I have so this should help like easy me in since I can make them more of a liquid paste type of thing turn them into liners and what not. I don’t know if this is a good medium or not but it worked really good for me I was able to use a few drops (I used one to many but that’s user error not product error) to turn one of the eyeshadows into a liner and it lasted for hours through work and wasn’t the easiest to get off so that was great in my book.

Holographic Warpaint Liquid Highlighter in Sleek White Gold

Full Size: 5 ml

Full Size Cost: $6.85

Sample Size: 5 ml

Total Value: $6.85

This is so pretty on the skin. It has what feels like a dry oil base so it isn’t like a mess to use and it does stay where you put it which is great most liquid highlighters just run all over the place. This is a really pretty gold with a white/silver type of under tone. It doesn’t look like that liquid metal type of look but it is like a glowy sheer metal finish. It is totally gorgeous but it unfortunately it is more for pictures because it fades very very quick I used this and it was like all gone with in an hour or two. Now I have oily skin and I do touch my face alot so your mileage may vary but My highlighters usually don’t fade that fast. TL:DR So pretty, great to work with but doesn’t last. Swatched Below.

Supernatural Topcoat in Wicked

Full Size: 7 ml

Full Size Cost: $8.85

Sample Size: 7 ml

Total Value: $8.85

This is a really cool gloss. It has an intense green shift to it you can even see it on bare lips this looks really awesome over black lipstick which is my personal favorite lipstick to win for me. I hate gloss so I won’t get a ton of use out of this because I don’t like that slidey sticky feeling on my lips but I will force myself to use this sometimes because of how pretty it looks. Swatched Below.

Eyeshadow in Bucket of Blood

Full Size: 3/4 tsp

Full Size Cost: $5.00

Sample Size: 3/4 tsp

Total Value: $5.00

I love red eyeshadow so this is was the best possible shade they could have picked for me. This is a lovely matte blood red, it is bright red with a bit of a brown undertone that comes through that makes it look like real blood. I love it so much. I used it to create my wing mixed with the medium in the look at the end of the post. Every now and again you’ll get loose pigments that don’t stick together enough to see the color in them and this you definitely don’t have that problem. Swatched Below.

Eyeshadow in Hang Gliding with Beelzebub

Full Size: 3/4 tsp

Full Size Cost: $5.00

Sample Size: 3/4 tsp

Total Value: $5.00

I love the little artwork for lip safe vs not lip safe so cute. I couldn’t find this currently on the site but that is ok. It is the same size as Bucket of Blood and lets be real this is like a lifetime supply loose eyeshadows last forever. This is a shimmery pretty light aqua blue. Very pretty and bright. Swatched Below.

Bucket of Blood, Hang Gliding with Beelzebub, Sleek White Gold, Wicked
With flash so you can see the shine

Glitter Blend in Potion

Full Size: 3 g

Full Size Cost: $4.25

Sample Size: 3 g

Total Value: $4.25

This has clear glitter, black glitter, and two shades of orange glitter. If you like glitter this is a really great glitter blend. I hate glitter I rarely use it outside of like a very special look for a really special thing so like once every 2 years maybe. I don’t know if I’ll save it or pass it on but I knew going into this this was a product that just wasn’t for me and my tastes and that’s ok. It is screaming Halloween to me though, so maybe.

Hypnotic Kiss Lip Balm in Cherry Chant

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $2.85

I have like 13 lip balms open right now including a cherry flavored one so I haven’t opened this yet because it does come completely sealed which I appreciate. These are a really good price and come in some really good flavors. So if this works out for me I would definitely get more.

Badass Setting Spray in Green Tea

Full Size: 60 ml

Full Size Cost: $7.85

Sample Size: 15 ml

Total Value: $1.96

The stated value of the travel size spray is $4.85 I get the whole packaging costs and what not totally get it and that makes sense if you could buy the travel size but at the moment they are not for sale so I am using the actual value for this product. I really like this setting spray Green Tea wouldn’t be my first choice of scent but it isn’t too bad it is more herbal water scen tthen straight green tea which I prefer. These setting sprays work about as goos most others I have tried. I am still looking for like a last through a hurricane type of setting spray that will keep my makeup on through shows but for everyday life this is good and smells nice.

Liquid Lipstick in Gore

Full Size: 8 ml

Full Size Cost: $12

Sample Size: 8 ml

Total Value: $12

This is such a good rusty brown red liquid lipstick. I love the shade. It is a little dry but has really good staying power and and not so dry that your lips feel like they are dying. I need a lipstick that can stand up to me drinking out of straws and cans and cups because I am always drinking water and coffee and Redbull and I can’t be bothered to touch up that often.

And here is the look I created with some of the products.

I laid down a base of just a black matte eyeshadow. Mixed Bucket of Blood with the Mixing Medium and made like a liquid eyeliner to do a nice sharp red wing eyeliner. Used Gore as my lip. I used the highlighter but it had already worn off by this point.

You can really see the bloody raw look of the shadow on my lid which is totally what I wanted I loved it.

Total: $51.16

So definitely over the promised $44 dollar value which is always good.  I was really happy with this box because I got an eyeshadow and a liquid lipstick in shades I love. If you got shades you didn’t like it would be less of a success. I was really impressed with the quality and liked all the products. Also the shipping was super fast I got a free sample which was fun. Overall totally recommend and will definitely buy from them again especially the liquid lipsticks and setting sprays.

Glamour Ghoul Box Batty Box

Glamour Ghoul

And now for something completely different.

This is an awesome company the owner creates these boxes from indie products based all around a theme that isn’t as main stream. And thank god for that us weird girls need fun boxes too. This was my first box from Glamour Ghouls and I loved it.

I do believe they are starting a subscription box service they are transition from the boxes being a onetime purchase every month. Or at least that is what I understood from their Instagram account.

So this is my review of the Batty Box.

I saw  this one on Instagram and knew I had to have it I love bats I have a bat tattoo this was so something I needed in my life.

The cost was $30 and you order about 2 months in advance.

Since these are handmade and from Etsy pages mostly I will be liking to the homepage rather then the actual item as some will be sold out or limited runs and will change over time.

Crazy Bat Lady Bag from Glam Nerd Customs

$14

This bag was actually smaller in person then I imagined it being but that aside I love it. I think I am going to take it as an extra tote bag for souvenirs on my next vacation the bat on it is so cute. this is a standard tote bag material that you’d see in most printed tote bags.

For the price I think it is a little small but I understand prices at more indie companies are more expensive as they are it using giant factories to produce their goods so it has to be taken into account.

Batty Bookmark from Gorejess Laboratory

$10

The bat bookmark is not for sale in the shop there is an adorable erlenmyer flask book mark that may find its way into my collection.

At $10 this is a perfect price and for handmade it is an even better value.

These is a little bat charm and a little garnet like stone super cute.

Batty Necklace from Murderous Jewels

$15

The card listed this necklace as $20 but the Murderous Jewels Etsy page has the necklace listed at $15. The chain on this is is great and the style can make it be adjustable from a choker to a regular dangling necklace. The scrollwork design is both delicate and cool at the same time. I am very sensitive to metals so I am hoping the coating on this necklace will keep it from giving me an allergic reaction.

Quija Batty Sticker from Bright Bat Design

$1.50

This was the teaser item that made me have to buy this box. I am in love with this adorable sticker like I just want to hug it.

Bright Bat Design makes tons of adorable stickers and stationary items.

They even have a subscription box of their own that I see myself subscribing to in the future. They have a $10 and $20 option.

Liquid Lipstick in Smoked Out from Spoiled Lips

$11

Swatched Below. This is a really cool light grey color the formula reminds me alot of the Limecrime formula. Unfortunately this is a little patchy on application that could be just the color this layers perfectly so that is not an issue I just give it a few seconds to mostly dry and then add another layer. It is not overly drying or overly messy so this is great. The packaging is cute as well.

Eyeshadow in Contagion from My Pretty Zombie

$5.00

Swatched Below. This is a cool purple glittery loose pigment eyeshadow. My pretty zombie’s products are all reasonably priced. I am not a huge loose pigment lover but this is a nice one it is definitely comparable to the pigments from Medusa’s Makeup.

Contagion, Smoked Out.

Value: $56.50

This is almost double what I spent on the box so I am happy. Even if the value was not so high I would be happy because this is my favorite way to get exposed to indie brands. I am especially excited to look into buying items from Bright Bat I love stickers. I will definitely buy another box from Glamour Ghoul in the future the boxes are so much fun! I really recommend that you try them out.
