What’s In My Trash? June 2021

Gosh it seems no matter what I just can’t keep up with my goal this year. Hoping in this second half of the year alot of my bigger full size products start to empty out and add some value to my empties here. I’ll do a little bit of a 6 month half way repcap at the end.

Skincare (13)

Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator this is a really nice microdermabrasion scrub it is just so expensive for what it is.

Repurchase: No

Caudalie Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum (x3) this is fine? Each little tube is about three uses so I am 9 days into using this firming serum and I can’t say I feel like it does anything. I have like 15ish days of serum left so well see.

Repurchase: No

Garnier Skin Active Balancing Facial Mist I hated this it didn’t smell great the sprayer was awful and if just was not that refreshing or hydrating.

Repurchase: No

Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Booster I don’t think this is effective at all.

Repurchase: No

BioRepublic Lost Baggage Under Eye Emergency Repair Masks these did actually do what they claimed and reduced my dark circles and puffiness. They are not the most comfortable and they don’t stick super well but if you can get through that they do work.

Repurchase: Maybe

Global Beauty Care Cucumber Extract Makeup Cleansing Wipes these are a decent dupe for my favorite Garnier wipes and these are way less expensive which is great I prefer the Garnier ones they are a little wetter and a little thicker but these are good.

Repurchase: Yes

Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum this was nice but it was sticky and it is expensive. But it did brighten and it felt nice.

Repurchase: Maybe

The Crème Shop Anti-Aging Egg Nog Sheet Mask this didn’t do anything that any other sheet mask does. They are nice and relaxing but I didn’t see any benefits other then some moisture.

Repurchase: No

The Beauty Crop Avocado Hydrating Eye Mask these are nice very hydrating and cooling and stay on really well.

Repurchase: Maybe

Beekman 1802 Golden Booster Amla Berry Vitamin C Serum (x2) this is the first Beekman product I have tried that I don’t feel like I have seen any effect from. This just doesn’t thrill me I don’t feel like it is as brightening as most other vitamin c serums I have tried.

Repurchase: No

Random (4)

Degree Motion Sense Deodorant in Ultraclear this is my favorite deodorant hands down.

Repurchase: Yes

Hot Herbs Shower Steamer in Apple Cinnamon this was fun it actually had a decent amount od scent better then most shower steamers. I find these to be like a fun treat but have no real desire to go out and purchase them but it was a good one.

Repurchase: No

Fortune Cookie Soap Company OCD Hand Sanitizer in Connected By Love I don’t like the ones with glitter it gets every where no one needs glitter hand sanitizer it like defeats the whole point!

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Fresh Towel Body Cleansing Towelettes I love having things like this on hand and these were fine they were a good size but I am not tied to any particular brand or anything.

Repurchase: They don’t even make these anymore

Home Scents (4)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Fire Soul Wax Tart this smelled really nice and it was pretty.

Repurchase: Yes

Fiction Fueled Candle Girl on Fire (not pictured) I tried really hard to like this but the oak moss scent was just too much for me I passed this on to my gf to use when I am not around but I got most of the way through it and it will get used up. The scent throw was really strong so I would consider candles of other scents from this company in the future.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works Wallflower in Summer Boardwalk this was great the scent was so boardwalk summery and sweet and the throw was great.

Repurchase: Yes

Bath and Body Works Rainbow Confetti Candle this smelled so good but the scent throw was not great so pretty disappointed. This did smell like fruity pebbles cake though.

Repurchase: No

Makeup (3)

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original this is one of my favorite eye bases. It lasts forever I already have another one and it’ll probably last me years.

Repurchase: Already Have

Make Up For Ever Extra Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in M-10 this was as good black eyeliner and it was long wearing but it to dry and hard to sharpen now.

Repurchase: Nope they don’t make it anymore

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Volume Mascara I hated this it was really clumpy and heavy and dry and sticky and just terrible and everyone else must have agreed to because it is majorly on sale pending being discontinued.

Repurchase: No

Lotion (2)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Hydrate Me in Bad-Anon I just don’t love in shower moisturizers and I don’t prefer stick lotions as I have learned. I know I have 2 left that I just need to get through but this is just not the product type for me I find it so much more inconvenient then rubbing a handle full of lotion on me.

Repurchase: No

Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream in Sea-Kissed loved this, great lotion, a little goes a long way. Loved the oceany scent. I don’t typically buy really expensive lotions so I don’t know that I would ever buy this but I really loved it.

Repurchase: Maybe

Bodycare (3)

Victoria Secret Water Scrub I loved how this smelled I love that sea ocean salty scent but it was not scrubby enough it was very soft. But it was really nice and softening.

Repurchase: No

Soap & Glory Orangeasm Body Wash this is like my favorite scent ever and they don’t make it anymore. I loved using this and I am so sad that I can’t ever get more.

Repurchase: I wish I could

Natural Pure Honest Whipped Scrub in Dimple Shah this was a really great consistency for a scrub I would hightly consider buying scrubs from this company in the future.

Repurchase: Yes

Haircare (2)

AG Colour Savour Mask I love this hair mask it makes my colors look so bright and my hair so soft.

Repurchase: Yes

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (not pictured) I don’t use dry often because my hair is hella dry but I thought I was enjoying this for the few months I had been using it until I got my hair dyed new fantasy shades and this lifted the color out of my hair. Pissed and annoyed don’t even begin to cover how I felt. DO NOT BUY THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IF YOU DYE YOUR HAIR. I used like 80% of this and am going to pass it along to my gf to try since she doesn’t dye her hair and has never tried dry shampoo but I feel since it literally ruined a very expensive hair dye I get to count this in my empties value.

Repurchase: NO, THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL OR AT LEAST COME WITH A WARNING LABEL

So half way through the year but not quite half way to my goals. I am just barely half way over the amount of items I wanted to use up this year so yay but I am missing half way to value by $110 so freaking close ugh.

Stats as they stand currently could actually be fun to see how they change or stay the same by the end of the year.

I feel like I am not learning as much by these stats they all seem to stay pretty consistent year to year.

Total: 214

Approx Value This Month: $232.63

30 Beauty Questions Tag

Well my house has never been cleaner and I am running out of things to do here in Self-Isolation. Hope every one out there is staying safe and at home and washing their hands. I downloaded Tik Tok so like that’s where I am on on my Social Distancing journey. So I am taking a break from that time suck to do a beauty tag that I found on Anna’s blog The Beauty Section.

Grab a snack (if there are any left I know I ate all mine) or a nice drink (since its always happy hour in quarantine) this is a real long post.

1// Do you remember your first makeup item?

Uh not like totally because I’m sure my mom must have given me glosses to wear and play with and what not when I was little. I remember the first items I bought for myself thought when I was like 13ish. I had a black liquid liner like marker style, a black pencil liner and then a little old school Urban Decay palette the purple one with the butterflies on it.

I would do the heavy black rings around my eyes every day, #emokidforlife. Then the eye shadow was for special occasion and I would use Mildew I don’t even know if they make that shade anymore it was like a mildew shimmery green all over my lid crease everything it was a good idea but bad execution. Maybe I should try to do like a better version of how I did my makeup back then that could be kinda fun. I don’t think I have any pictures from back then I’ll have to look in my old hard drive.

2// Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

I like mascaras that really lengthen and thicken my lashes I tend to prefer a more heavy formula since my lashes are pretty curled naturally and they can hold it. I really like Too Faced Better Than Sex, I like Stila Huge Extreme a lot. I L’oreal Unlimited mascara in the funky bottle that can stand up on its own. With all my subscriptions I never actually need to buy mascara.

3// What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

Preferably none I really don’t prefer to wear it but if I am going to I use foundation I like a light to maybe medium coverage. I’ll only wear full coverage for days I’ll be taking lots of important pictures.

4// Favorite high end brand?

I don’t really know any more because I feel like most brand I have a favorite type of item from but I don’t like everything from any brand. I have loved everything I have tried from Jeffree Star, I love Urban Decay Eyeliners, I love Sugar Pill Eyeshadows, I love Abh liquid lipsticks and brow stuff. It’s just to hard to say.

5// What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

More indie brands in general, especially Menagerie Cosmetics.

6// Favorite drugstore brand?

Colourpop, Covergirl (base products), Makeup Revolution.

7// Do you wear fake eyelashes?

Very rarely, and I usually use the magnetic ones if I do.

8// Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

No, I am totally fine going out without makeup but I won’t go out to see friends or go somewhere without eyeliner that would be my first repurchased item if all my makeup went missing after I had a very long meltdown about it.

9// What is your most cherished beauty product?

Either my Sugar Pill Pro palette (I really want to make another but they are so pricey), or my Melt Cosmetics Vida and Muerte palettes because they are like works of art when you put them together.

10// How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

Too often is that an answer? I buy to make up at least once a week in addition to all my boxes. I usually only get one or two things I rarely do a large haul of things but it feels both amazing and overwhelming when I do.

11// Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

No I just have a life budget and if it doesn’t fit in my life budget I can’t get it. I do use coupons and gift cards and sales to score a lot of free and cheap makeup up. I rarely buy anything full price.

12// Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

YES! I am a crazy couponer when it comes to makeup, I am always trying to match sales and coupons to get things for free. I use points at stores and I use Rakuten to get money back if I shop online. It is actually legit I was super suspicious but you really do get a check in the mail.

13// What type of product do you buy the most of?

Eyeshadow or eyeliner.

14// Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

Well Kat Von D was one but now its KVD Vegan Beauty so it remains to be seen what my feelings on that are. I have pretty much disliked everything I have tried from It Cosmetics except the brushes and the Super Hero Liner. I do not like Ulta brand makeup.

15// Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

No parabens and sulfates have not been scientifically proven to be bad for you and parabens are a very effective way of keeping products preserved and safe to use so I have no problems with them. I do avoid anything with rose or rose oil because I am allergic. I do try avoid excessive alcohol in skincare but I don’t kill myself to avoid it.

16// Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

No I like to shop everywhere Ulta, CVS, Sephora, online everywhere.

17// Do you like trying new skincare products of do you keep a certain routine?

I love trying new skincare products. I always want to try new things see how they work.

18// Favorite bath and body brand?

Fortune Cookie Soap Company!!!!!! Their stuff is in my empties all the time you know that if you follow me regularly.

19// If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

Urban Decay, They vibe with me I like their color stories, they make my favorite eyeliner, my favorite setting spray, they have a primer I know I really like. So they have tried and true products in all my most important categories.

20// What brand do you think has the best packaging?

Makeup Revolution/I Heart Revolution always has such cute packaging that just makes me want to buy it all.

21// Which celebrity always has great makeup?

I am not really a celebrity follower so I really couldn’t tell you.

22// Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

Other than this blog and Instagram no.

23// Favorite Beauty Gurus?

Oh this is kinda hard because most of the beauty gurus I watch I watch them because I like them even though I would never do my makeup like them. But I will link them all below.

Youtubers:

Jessica Braun – Lifestyle & beauty, her content always feels fresh to me

Emily Noel – she just reviews so much and she does a lot of top five videos

Matilda – all her videos are flat lay style with just her hands, very cool

Taylor Wynn – she films a lot of foundation stuff, I learn a lot about it which is useful for doing makeup on others

Alexandria Ryan – she unboxes so much stuff and then uses it in a first impression she’s very fun and quirky

Beautbean – I want to recreate every look she does she’s all about color and grunge which is totally my style

Robert Welsh – pro makeup artist so educational and just all around amazing I am obsessed!

Just Buy the Makeup – Hailey does not bullshit and I love her for it she seems so real plus her Australian accent makes me happy lol

24// Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

No I feel like they never really work well for any purpose.

25// Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

No? I mean I make mistakes does that count?

26// Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

Yes always, sometimes I use a white concealer but usually an eyeshadow primer.

27// How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

None. Sometimes I use dry shampoo or a hair oil at night but really no most days.

28// What do you apply first concealer or foundation?

Foundation.

29// Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

I am currently in a makeup academy. I love it. Though Covid-19 has kinda thrown everything off here.

30// What do you love about makeup?

I just love playing with all the colors and getting to do a different look every time. Really getting to match my look to my personality. I feel like my look instantly tells people about me and because I created that I get to feel proud of it. And I like the no pressure aspect because the worst thing that happens is you wipe it off. Like its very low scale importance so it is relaxing. Plus it is just fun.

Woah that was a long one but it was really fun. I hope some other people do this too one what ever platform they are on. Stay safe stay inside stay occupied!

My Makeup Habits Tag

I saw Beautbean’s video on her Makeup Habits and I thought it was such a good idea. I love her makeup style so I thought it would be a cute one to replicate here since alot of tags don’t really make sense written on a blog but this one does.

It is a 13 question tag and that is my favorite number so it was clearly meant to be.

1. How often do you wear a full face of makeup? (foundation, eye shadow, contour… THE WORKS)

  • Rarely only if its an event where I’ll be taking alot of pictures. I avoid foundation alot of them break me out, I feel like my skin really doesn’t need it on a daily basis. I mostly do a fun eye a highlighter and a lip and call it a day.

2. Is your everyday makeup look more neutral or more colorful?

  • Colorful for sure. I never do a neutral eye I feel like they look so boring and blend in too much.

3. How long does it take you do do your go to makeup look?

  • I don’t have a “go-to” look I always do something different but the standard amount of makeup I would put on is like 20 to 30 minutes.

4. Do you apply your foundation before or after you’ve done your eye shadow?

  • Always after I don’t understand how people can do it before I can be so messy with my eyeshadow it would be twice as much work!

5. What are some “bad” makeup habits you have that you can’t stop doing?

There are probably so many that I don’t even know I am making but I have a few that I know people think are bad but I love and will continue to do always.

  • Black eyeliner even if I am not wearing other makeup.
  • A stripe of intense or colored highlighter it’s just so fun sometimes!
  • Forgetting mascara (so often!)
  • Bold eye & Bold Lip on the same look

6. Do you use beauty influencer techniques or your own techniques to apply your makeup?

  • Not really I can’t think of any Youtuber tricks or anything that I use except maybe using tape for my eyeliner but I feel like that is such an old trick I don’t know if it counts?

7. What is the one step in your makeup routine that takes the longest to complete?

  • Definitely eyeshadow. It is the thing I enjoy the most and the thing I like to take my time and enjoy and have fun doing.

8. What is one step in your makeup routine that you’re okay with skipping? What is one step in your makeup routine you will never skip?

  • Well I mean there’s most steps I am ok with skipping since I don;t really do the whole base routine most days but if I only count the steps I do. I would say bronzer/contour or eyebrows maybe. Or lips I could skip lips.
  • I never skip eyeliner never. It is like the staple element of my whole being.

9. What type of makeup looks are out of your comfort zone?

  • Neutral eye looks
  • “No Makeup” Makeup, I’d rather just wear no makeup
  • That very tanned/bronze JLo glow type of look

10. Do you wear matte liquid lipstick, cream lipstick, gloss, or a mixture?

  • I am a matte liquid lip girl all the way. I switch it up and will use a matte or cream bullet lipstick but I prefer matte lips that I don’t need to baby sit all day. I DETEST gloss so much it is stick and messy and I don’t love the shiny lip look.

11. If you could only wear one shade of lipstick for the rest of your life what would it be?

  • Omg this is so hard! I love so many lip shades I love a good red lip I wear black lips with so many of my looks but sometimes I need a neutral lip or a nice berry in the fall. Don’t make me choose! 🙁
  • If it was gun to my head situation I would probably have to say black since in my mind it is both neutral and bold goes with everything I wear.

12. Do you highlight and contour your face?

  • Even though I don’t wear foundation I almost always highlight and I usually contour lightly for definition I like how it looks and it makes me feel more confident.

13. What is the one step in your makeup routine that makes you feel the most complete?

  • BLACK EYELINER I think I said this like 50 times already I just am addicted. It feeds my emo/rock soul. It has been a part of my routine forever and it just makes me happy. That and any/all eyeliners in general I just love them.

So that was my first tag ever it was really fun! Don’t be too hard on me!
