Macy’s Beauty Box

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: So Macy’s has hopped on the subscription box bandwagon and this is their first box. Every month you will get a bag, a $5 off coupon, 5 deluxe samples and 1 bonus sample. Why not just say 6? I don’t get it.

All the brands will be brands you can find in Macy’s which is cool they sell Mac and a lot of other brands that are never to rarely in subscription boxes.

The cool thing about the coupon is that it is good in stores and online (beauty ships free at Macy’s) also Macy’s does have sales and $5 dollar products so if you are strategic you can score a free product every month. Depending on your state you may still have to pay tax but that is still basically free.

Well Macy’s is getting better this is more what I would have expected from their first box so it is feeling a little to late for me I will probably cancel after I see what they pull out for Christmas. This month they gave us $10 dollars off which was awesome because I was able to score and Origins gift set for free during the Black Friday sale and some Shiseido Facial Cottons with last months $5 off that I have been dying to try. So I was pretty thrilled with that.

Lancôme Cils Booster XL Super Enhancing Mascara Base

Oh gee another mascara primer these are just sitting in my collection getting no use. I should really try these one day but I just don’t see the point. I already like my lashes plenty and often forget to even put mascara on so I just don’t see myself using this extra step ever.

Beauty Blender Blotterazzi Pro

I am approximating this at $10 because half the function of this is having the case. Now the point of this is to be a reusable blotting paper that you take on the go to blot oil. I have the non pro version that I got in Sephora Play! from before I even started this blog. I use this in a different way and actually love it so am very happy to have another. I soak it in setting spray and tap it all over my face anywhere I feel like I have makeup that looks cakey or powdery or isn’t blending well together and feel like it helps everything sink in and blend better. I  know I could do that with a regular beauty blender but I feel like this blotter does it quicker and gives a smoother look because it is over a wider area. So Yay for something I will truly get alot of use out of.

This is VERY yellow I don’t know how this is going to work on me, but Always nice to get a Mac product.

I am so super allergic to this mascara is makes my eyes so itchy and red and irritated and just I can’t. But I will find it a good home.

This is ultra feminine smelling not really my style.

This subscription is getting better but it is all stuff I have or isn’t my style I don’t know if the value is there for me personally the best part is the coupon and that isn’t worth $15 a month to me.

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

Omg it has seriously been a hell of a fucking month. Everything has gone wrong and clusterfucked up and its been miserable. Feels like I haven’t had ten seconds to breathe which is why I haven’t posted anything in like over 2 weeks. Things have just been fucking miserable and I have had so many big life changes and crazy shit and AHHH but enough about that. Cuc this isn’t an apology just a hey life got out of control and blog/Instagram had to take a break.

I was really meh about this month. So let’s dig in.

My Burberry Blush Perfume

This is like a rose scent and I am allergic so this was a no go for me. Not much more to say. Reason one this box was meh.

Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Perfect Nude

We got this in a different shade last November

I don’t know why but that majorly annoys me so reason 2 this box was meh. I don’t like lip gloss but my mom will love this so yay for easy stocking stuffer but. I don’t mind getting differnet shades of the same product over the course of a year but something about it being in the same month twice bothers me. That is just a weird idiosyncrasy of mine probably not an issue for anyone else. Also not swatch because this is a gift.

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum

Reason 3 this box is meh at no point has my profile said I need moisture of any kind. Let alone SOS high moisturizing anything. ugh.

This is a half a meh I like this mask but I just got it in the October Macy’s Box. I know that isn’t Sephora’s fault and it does fit my profile so it gets half a meh.

Moroccanoil Treatment

So I have had a sample of this before but I can’t remember from where. I really love this stuff and am excited to have it again this was my first higher end hair oil and started my obsession with hair oils. They have really worked wonders for my hair in terms of sleekness and manageability. So this is like an aw nostalgic product and my favorite thing in the box for that reason.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara in 10 Noir

Full Size: 0.32 oz

Sample Size: 0.17 oz

Value: $13.81

This is the most exciting product in the box it has a fluffy natural bristle want which is my favorite but the formula looks a little wet which I am not a fan of. I really wanted to try this for Thanksgiving but I am trying to be good and not open too many mascaras at once I have like three or four open right now and that is plenty.

Raise your hand if you have ever felt personally victimized by a subscription box. Hehe least I make myself laugh. Probably because I am having a shitty month but I felt bored annoyed and unhappy with this box this month. Sorry Sephora but you get a no from me for November here hoping December is just better all around.

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. you can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 100 points and 1000 points. You can get up to 95 points every month.

Ipsy always pulls out a cute bag for Halloween I look forward to it. Last years was adorable and this years is like perfect classy gothic horror I’m all about it.

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter

I do not like how this smells because I really really dislike the scent of shea butter and yes I know that is a really weird thing to dislike. But I really love hair oils they work so well for my hair to get rid of frizz and make my hair smooth and shiny. I also really love this brand so I will give it a shot.

Blaq Mask

This is everything I want in a mask. Its charcoal its peel off its supposed to get rid of blackheads and I really love the black packaging. I can’t believe how pricey it is.

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara

So I own the full size of this so I have alot to say:

  1.  How is this almost half the full size packaging is giant I mean it is this biggest tube of mascara I own.
  2. This is not the same have they reformulated?
  3. The brush doesn’t look the same and the consistency of this sample is thinner.

I’m confused. I do like tiny little mascaras though they are great for travel.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion

I really love the glide on liners from UD I have a bunch. Unfortunately perversion is the one I like the least (I’m actually almost done with my last one thank god). This on me fades in about to seconds it smudges it transfers it goes gray the smudges are impossible to get off it just turns my eyes into a messy raccoon the other colors don’t do that to me this color just does not agree with me for some reason. MDMflow Liquid Matte Lipstick in Retro

When I saw this online I was like ugh I do not like that color but on it is a nice light pinky berry that I can live with. I also really love this packaging it is rounded and really like chunky feeling in your hand but in a good way. I keep reading MDM as something else ;P I’m pretty sure that was their intention but it keeps making me laugh. I’m way more into this then I thought I would be. Not that I needed ANOTHER liquid lipstick. Swatched Below.

Good value this month from Ipsy and really decent sizes. Overall no complaints whatsoever with this month’s Ipsy and me having no complaints is a seriously rare thing. I’m picky.
