Boxycharm May 2018 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $21

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size  items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to.  It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for the reasonable price of $21 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

Another month another Boxycharm box that came all crushed I really don’t get what is up with that. Luckily nothing was damaged this month but since none of my other boxes are damaged when I get them I feel like this is on Boxycharm’s end not the post office’s end.

Aesthetica P 12 Brush

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $27

I would never spend $27 on this brush it does not feel that quality it isn’t super scratchy but there is an element of scratchiness to the bristles and it just has the look and feel of a much cheaper brush. I also don’t love brushes shaped like this I need something bigger ad fluffier or smaller and denser for my powder life.

Aesthetica 3 Piece Eye Trio

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $45

Uh that is ridiculous especially since one of the brushes is a tiny spoolie. These feel better quality then the P12 but no where near $45 you can get the same thing from like bh cosmetics for less then half the price that is the same quality.

Pür Cosmetics Sculptor Palette

Full Size: 1o g

Full Size Cost: $30

Sample Size: 10 g

Value: $30

This is a much better then the eye palette that is for sure the highlight shades are a bit dark for me but that will be good for people generally left out with shades that don’t work for them. Swatched Below.

Pretty Vulgar The Ink Gel Eyeliner 01 Black List

Full Size: 6 g

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 6 g

Value: $24

I just love the packaging aesthetic so much the old school inkwell is just so awesome. I wish the quality of the packaging was better for the price ad the look of it like the lid is so cheap feeling if should have been a heavier metal cap.  The jar itself is heavy glass. Since you can’t see into the liner it is really easy to overload your brush because this is a very creamy gel liner. It stays a bit glossy but does look really nice. I swatched it twice a first past and a second past so that you can see how the pigment is over a first and second swipe. Swatched Below.

Beauty Creations Matte Lip Gloss in 17 Sweet Heart

Full Size: 4 g

Full Size Cost: $10

Sample Size: 4 g

Value: $10

I feel like they sell this at Marshall’s. This is a really pretty color but it takes forever to dry down and is pretty sticky while it dries. The packaging is also pretty cheap feeling like there are sharp edges on the plastic cap. I don’t get matte lip gloss like those are pretty mutually exclusive so I don’t get while brands name things like that. Swatched Below.

Cover Fx Blurring Primer

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $38

Sample Size: 30 ml

Value: $38

This is a beige primer that is really blurring like my skin looks really smooth and soft after putting this on.

Total: $174

So much repeat brands like I feel like we have gotten Cover Fx and Pür in every box lately. The spoilers for next month look really good so I am excited to see what we get. It looks like we will be getting some different brands then usual. Almost a third of the value of this month came from the really overpriced brushes that are not worth it they are not something I would spend my money on.

Walmart Spring 2018 Beauty Box Subscription Review

Walmart Beauty Box

Cost: $5

Cycle: Every Quarter/Season

What is it: Every season Walmart sends out a box of samples and sometimes coupons in their “free” subscription box. The box is a flat shipping rate of $5 and the box is considered free.  There are two categories of boxes “Trendsetter” which you receive if you provide a birth date that has you aged at under 35 and “Classic” if you provide a birth date that has you aged above 35.

It is that time again for my “free” box of totally random goodies.

6 items this month we have definitely gotten more in the past.

Softsoap Earth Blends Coconut & Fig Body Wash

Full Size: 500 ml

Full Size Cost: $4.97

Sample Size: 59 ml

Total Value: $0.59

Perfect little body wash to take traveling I love having little mini body washes like this. It doesn’t smell like coconut more a general fruit smell. To me it is worth more then that because to buy a travel size of these usually costs me at least a dollar or two if I don’t have any on hand.

Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer

Full Size: 221 ml

Full Size Cost: $8.49

Sample Size: 59 ml

Total Value: $2.67

I already know I don’t like this I don’t like wet skin moisturizers and this doesn’t really tint your skin at all.

Rembrandt 3 Day Whitening Kit

Full Size: 3 day kit

Full Size Cost: $6.99

Sample Size: 3 day kit

Total Value: $6.99

Sorry I don’t know where the picture of this went oops. I am in the process of testing this out so check in my monthly empties to find out how well these worked or didn’t work. I can they aren’t too uncomfortable and they don’t taste bad but they are a really large for my small mouth.

Pantene Foam Conditioner Sheer Volume

Full Size: 170 g

Full Size Cost: $5.97

Sample Size: 40 g

Total Value: $1.40

Foam conditioner seems really interesting I am scared to try it I feel like it is gona leave my hair really sticky which it just a weird feeling I have.

Hello Sensitivity Relief Soothing Mint Toothpaste

Full Size: 113 g

Full Size Cost: $4.24

Sample Size: 24.1 g

Total Value: $0.90

I like Hello toothpaste alot but never enough to actually spend the month on it. This has coconut oil in it which I have read is good for your teeth don’t know how true that really is.

Soo AE Acai Berry Revitalizing Sleeping Mask

Full Size: 10 g

Full Size Cost: $2.50

Sample Size: 10 g

Total Value: $2.50

I love me a sleeping mask and this one should be good for at least 2-3 uses. I will use this one right after my Sephora one since they are supposed to both brighten and energize and see how they compare.

I love that I have almost always gotten a full size product in this box which so makes it worth the $5 and they always send such practical useful things and the actual box it comes inn is really nice and reusable.

Ipsy May 2018 Subscription Box Review

Ipsy Bag

Cost: $10 monthly, $110 annual

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month Ipsy sends out a cute makeup bag of samples and full size items. you can review your bag for points that you can trade in for reward items. The rewards change often and the range between 100 points and 1000 points. You can get up to 95 points every month.

If you want to subscribe you can subscribe HERE and skip the waitlist. That is my referral link so I do get points to spend but I’m not an affiliate I don’t make any money or anything it’s just one beauty junkie to another.

I planned to have a review up before this of a new palette but these past two weeks have been a real rollercoaster of highs and lows and I just couldn’t. The lows were so bad and I’m still waiting for the dust to kind of settle, I’m still to upset and shaken to really even function right now so if this review is kinda subdued. I will probably talk about what happened eventually but not right now.

Common Labs GGlutamin C Real Jel Mask

Full Size: 1 mask

Full Size Cost: $4

Sample Size: 2 masks

Value: $8

I am super excited to try these out but I had already used my new Tarte exfoliating Knock out treatment and obviously can’t layer this on top if I still want to have a face. I really like the whole chemical exfoliation followed by a mask so when I have a moment to unwind I am going to treat myself to this since it is a longer mask like 20 minutes. I like that I got two so I can see if a repeat use increases the effectiveness.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $36

Sample Size: 7.5 ml

Value: $9

I don’t have a whole lot of use for a hydrating serum. I know its super extra but sometimes I’ll use the ones I get on my hands I need more hydration there then I do on my face.  I don’t know if I will use this or pass it on.

SLMissGlam Sparkle Everyday Glam Beauty Sponge

Full Size: Yes

Full Size Cost: $17.50

Um this is almost as much as a beauty blender and it is tiny. It is about an inch and a half tall it is so so soft and squishy though i wish it was a bit bigger but it the closest that I have felt to the texture of a beauty blender. I don’t actually love the softness of the Beauty Blender I like a bit firmer of a sponge but this is really nice. I like when sponges have a flat edge like this one does. I was prepared to not like this at all because I really don’t need anymore sponges, but I was pleasantly surprised.

trèStique Mini Matte Blur Stick

Full Size: 6.1 g

Full Size Cost: $28

Sample Size: 1.1 g

Value: $5.05

This feels so insane on the skin. Like my skin felt primer and blurred and smooth but like wet and hydrated and matte all at the same time it was really wild.  The value on this is sort of an estimate because the full size also comes with blotting papers that are stored in the tube as well it is really cool but made figuring out the value more of a guess.

Air Repair Complexion Quenching Facial Mist

Full Size: 59 ml

Full Size Cost: $9.99

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $1.69

I wanted to like this because I like facial mists alot but this didn’t do much for me. The sprayer made me feel like I was being drenched and it really just felt like water not scent no extra boost of hydration or cooling nothing really just water on my face. You ca apparently buy this at Target which is kinda cool.

So there was nothing to swatch this month and this bag almost felt like they sent me a bag meant for someone else this wasn’t really my needs or tastes exactly so it was just an odd month. I am considering not renewing my subscription in September I don’t know that I need so many samples in my life and so many bags but we’ll see.
