Sephora Play! February 2019 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store and now online too.

So I know this is late but better late then never. It just has been busy and just I haven’t had time. Plus my new way of cataloging everything that comes into my collection has made posting so much more work that I kinda drag my feet wanting to post sometimes.

Kat Von D Saint Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $65

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $1.95

Kat Von D Sinner Perfume

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $65

Sample Size: 1.5 ml

Value: $1.95

I have definitely had this exact sample from Sephora Play! before I am not hugely into the repeat samples that seem to be happening in subscription boxes of late. Any way I like Saint it is lighter and sweeter Sinner just isn’t my cup of tea it is too heavy of a scent.

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

Full Size: 6 pairs

Full Size Cost: $25

Sample Size: 1 pair

Value: $4.17

I am not sure how I feel about gold in skincare I have read alot of mixed things about whether or not it is good for your skin so I haven’t really been using any of my gold skincare. This is another thing I have gotten in a subscription box. Maybe I’ll be brave and try it.

Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturizing Cream Gel

Full Size: 50 ml

Full Size Cost: $48

Sample Size: 5 ml

Value: $4.80

I have alot of feelings about this first it is so heavily fragranced that it is sickening. Second why would you need a moisturizer with salicylic acid that is anti stress that makes now sense to me. Also I tried this out because it has an ingredient that is in the rose family but isn’t a rose so I decided to give it a shot but nope made me itchy so can’t use this. Also this tiny sample is like one or two uses at most.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

Full Size: 40 ml

Full Size Cost: $39

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $11.03

I don’t like this face moisturizer it is like a light nothing waste your time type of moisturizer. I like a light moisturizer but I still want it to feel like it is doing something.

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in 09 Intense Ebony

Full Size: 0.012 oz

Full Size Cost: $18

Sample Size: 0.005 oz

Value: $7.50

I am not swatching this because I don’t like the regular Quickliner and I don’t have a pressing need to try this eyeliner and I’d rather have some one else get good use out of it. The regular Quickliner fades on me so so fast that it isn’t even worth putting on.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Maple

Full Size: 4.35 g

Full Size Cost: $26

Sample Size: 1.41 g

Value: $8.43

I wished I liked these lipsticks more because they are so freaking comfortable and they have some gorgeous shades. I justt am not the hugest fan of a shiny lipstick that can move around so I rarely wear them. This is a beautiful brick red shade though and I love it so so much.

Not hapy with a box that only 3 things I will use and one is a perfume sample. I did get more then $10 of value with the products I am keeping but still it isn’t exciting to get a box of things you don’t want.

This month has really gotten away from me. I am so behind on everything.

I was not a huge fan of this month at all.

Marc Anthony Strengthening Grow Long Anti-Breakage Mask

Full Size: 295 ml

Full Size Cost: $

Sample Size: 50 ml

Value: $

I can’t find this anywhere to buy so I don’t know if this still exists or how much it is worth. I have tried this before it is a nice mask but I don’t really know that it does alot for anti-breakage.

Seraphine Botanicals Natural Radiance Booster in Daisy + Pearl

Full Size: 3.5 g

Full Size Cost: $22

Sample Size: 3.5 g

Value: $22

This is too dark for me and not something I am interested I have much nicer highlights this was not glowy enough or interesting enough for my tastes. Swatched Below.

Doucce Fierce & Fine Graphic Pen in Black

Full Size: 1.1 ml

Full Size Cost: $21

Sample Size: 1.1 ml

Value: $21

Yay black liquid liner. Whats there really to say. Swatched Below.

Belle En Argent Auteur Creme Lip Color in I’ll Bring Dessert

Full Size: 4.2 g

Full Size Cost: $32

Sample Size: 3.8 g

Value: $28.95

This is a not my cup of tea for lipstick. It is like a cream shine which is not my preferred formula and it is on the pink side of mauve where i would normally choose the more berry side of mauve. Oh well. It is super comfortable and opaque and the packaging is gorgeous. You can use it as a mirror and I love the little plus signs on it.

Hey Honey Trick and Treat CC Cream in Light to Medium

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $38

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $12.67

I love cc cream type base products because I like that lighter feel and coverage on my face so this I am excited to try especially since it has honey in it and my skin likes honey alot.

I like that it was a makeup heavy month this month but the makeup picks were not that great for me personally. The value was off the charts this month and there is an item unaccounted for so this month was really good in that respect.

Boxycharm February 2019 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $21

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size  items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to.  It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for the reasonable price of $21 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

Another month with a travel size product but it is my favorite product we got this month. I don’t kow but this box felt a little thrown together like there was no theme or thought this month I am hoping next month is better I have been a bit uninspired by Boxycharm lately I feel like I never get the items I want and its just eh stuff.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Full Size: 8 ml

Full Size Cost: $24

This has super nice packaging! I love the metal tube and its weighty which makes it really feel nice and lux. I don’t think I have ever tried this because I don’t buy mascara because I am always getting it free.

Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eyecolor in Copper Foil

Full Size: 3 g

Full Size Cost: $24

I love their lip products but I had ever tried one of their eye products it is a gorgeous color and finish but it felt a little heavy on the eyes and wasn’t the easiest to blend out. Swatched Below.

Pretty Vulgar Shimmering Swan Highlighter in 127 Sparkling Sass

Full Size: 5.7 g

Full Size Cost: $32

I am going to start with the fact that this in so incredibly overpriced for what it is. I love the look of Pretty Vulgar packaging it speaks to me on every aesthetic level but the feel of the packaging is very cheap and flimsy and the products are just ok they are not worth the price they charge for them . I was hoping for the other shade because this is a little dark for me but I think it will work in the summer when I have a tan.

Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer

Full Size: 30 ml

Full Size Cost: $18

I didn’t love this primer when I had a sample of it I found that it like balled up on my skin. This packaging is so cute though and feels so nice in my hand and with a pump rather then a squeeze tube it seems to come out alot thinner. So I will give this another go and see if it works out better for me.

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream

Full Size: 2.5 oz

Full Size Cost: $20

I really wanted this so I am glad I got it. This is the one travel sized item that we got. Anyway this smells so amazing it is supposed to be like coconut sugar and it is it smells like coconuts and cookies and slightly sunscreeny in a good way I love the way this smells I am sad that a full size is $45 because I can’t imagine spending that much on lotion. It is also super moisturizing and feels so nice.

The only thing I was really excited about was the lotion. The mascara will get used but the lotion was the main thing for me this month. I am really not lucking out with Boxycharm lately.

Total: $118
