What’s In My Trash? August 2018

Well its been awhile been a hell of a month lots has happened. Some really awful things some really great things. This will probably still be funky for a bit because I am going away during the time that all my boxes usually come so everything will probably be pretty late this month but empties are usually a more fun post when I am away because I use up alot of stuff so that will be something to look forward to.

Skincare (12)

Ulta Beauty Cranberry Crumble Detoxifying Peel-Off Mask I really liked this it made my skin feel so soft and my pores looked and felt smoother smaller and cleaner.  Two thumbs way up for this one.

Repurchase: Yes

No7 Early Defence Glow Activating Serum (I know that isn’t how you spell defense but that is how the package has it written) this was quite nice it felt really nice and silky and light on my face I don’t know how glowy it made me with just a few uses but it looked and felt nice.

Repurchase: Maybe

Primark Men’s Facial Wipes I have written about these a few times I like them for my face for swatches for everything they are cheap soft and work pretty well.

Repurchase: Yes

Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover I loved that it is a spray it was so easy to use it did not remove eye makeup at all but it did well for face makeup. I would consider a full size but I have cheaper ones that work just as well but I like this little mini for travel.

Repurchase: Maybe

Ole Henriksen Truth Facial Water I really loved this it felt nice on my skin it smelled good and it made my skin look more awake. I don’t know so much bout hydrating a ton but it felt nice.

Repurchase: Yes

Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment one of my favorite spot treatments one of the only ones that actually works.

Repurchase: Yes

Belief Creamy Cleansing Foam Moist Cleanser I didn’t like this is was really sticky and thick and didn’t rinse off well so my skin felt sticky and gross after and make me break out in spots I didn’t rinse it off 15 times.  This is supposed to be for dry skin but with how sticky it is I don’t think it would emulsify well enough and would be irritating.

Repurchase: No

TonyMoly Master Lab Hyaluronic you can read how I felt about it HERE. I got it in my bag and used it right away I would use it again but wouldn’t purchase it on my own.

Repurchase: No

Sephora Ginseng Sleeping Mask this is supposed to be toning and depuffing but it did nothing this is not nearly as good as the other sleeping masks from Sephora I have tried.

Repurchase: No

First Aid Beauty Milk Oil Conditioning Cleanser this is something I am glad I forced myself to use up even though I hated it. I spent a ton of money on it and it wasn’t that great so lesson learned and I didn’t let myself just hoard it because I didn’t like it. First the packaging kinda sucks it splatters a lot when you pump it. It made my eyes feel like coated if it got in them which I hated. It also isn’t great at removing makeup so it pretty much fails in all arenas. I liked it at first because it was better than the micellar type waters I had been using but in comparison to balms and the Sephora cleanser I love it doesn’t hold a candle.

Repurchase: Not even if it was free

(2) Too Cool For School Egg Cream Sheet Mask Hydration this made my skin feel super soft and hydrated. The mask stays on very well considering it is a very thick saturated mask. My skin also looked very glowy after I used it.

Repurchase: Yes

Random (6)

Random bath pouf there is not a lot to say here.

Repurchase: Yes will it be this exact one who knows

Secret Invisible Solid Berry Fresh Deodorant I like solid deodorants I feel like they work better the scents are meh and the secret ones I find are a little chunkier then the Degree ones but they are a lot cheaper.

Repurchase: Yes

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Lotion Wipes this was such a cool idea I though lotion wipes would be so convenient for throwing in a bag or taking to go but they weren’t that great they were almost more like hydrating wet wipes I didn’t feel moisturized after just wiped down for lack of a better way to describe it.

Repurchase: No

Degree Motion Sense Deodorant this one is in Pure Clean I like the one with the yellow on it better can’t remember the name of that scent right now. But I like the degree deodorants just fine I go between them and Secret depending on sales.

Repurchase: Yes

Holika Holika Baby Silk Foot Mask Sheet this is one of those mask that you put on your feet you sit in those booties and then over the next few days your dry gross skin is supposed to peel off.  There was no peeling I was pretty disappointed.

Repurchase: No

Simple Pleasures Pineapple Scented Shower Fizzies these were awful. I got them at Five Below but they did not work at all they barely fizzed you couldn’t smell them they were completely useless.

Repurchase: No

Bliss ‘Fuzz’ Off Foam this is one of those hair removal gel type products but it really didn’t work for me.  This small can was barely enough to do my legs and as usual for me it didn’t really remove my hair at all. It did make my hair somehow shave off better which was cool I guess.

Repurchase: No

Home Scents (6)

Columbia Candle Supply Fresh Cut Grass Wax Melt this smells exactly like grass but in a good summery way it was so fun to use and even this small package was good for quite a few melting sessions.

Repurchase: Yes

Columbia Candle Supply Brown Sugar Cake Wax Melt this didn’t last as long as the other wax melts. Smelled nice but the smell burnt off very quick.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works ScentPortable in Suntan I loved the way this smelled made my whole car smell so summery.

Repurchase: Yes

Columbia Candle Supply Marshmallow Fluff Wax melt so far this has been my favorite scent so far it has a good scent throw the only thing I felt like this didn’t burn for quite as long as the other ones which sucks because I love the scent and wanted it to last longer.

Repurchase: Yes

Columbia Candle Supply Juicy Wax Melt this melted well but something about the notes in this one gave me a headache so I didn’t like this one as much as the grass one.

Repurchase: No

Bath and Body Works White Cherry and Thyme Foaming Hand Soap I loved this so so so much I am so sad this is gone I loved the scent. I love thyme and cherries so this was so fresh and bright and  clean smelling.

Repurchase: Yes, if it ever comes back

Lip (3)

Wet n Wild Gel Lip Balm in Kiss this is a clear balm but I really didn’t like this at all. It was super greasy feeling and not moisturizing.  I also don’t like how big it was.

Repurchase: No

Medusa’s Makeup Rage Against the Bean this was a really good lip balm it was vanilla flavored and I loved the name.  This is one of the more favorite lip balms I have tried in a while.

Repurchase: Yes

Cruzan Rum Lip Balm this was fun it smelled a little rum like but mostly it was your standard free lip balm type balm I got this at some festival or other but I liked it and used it.

Repurchase: No, because it would be impossible lol

Declutter (7)

Flower Beauty Endless Wear Eye Color in Sheer Buff this was really dry and didn’t blend or look good on my eyes at all.

Makeup Revolution Love the Revolution eye and face palette this is really pretty would be perfect for the minimalist for traveling but if I am being really with myself I will never use this. This has a separate picture because I already gave it away to a friend.

Too Faced Liquif-Eye this is old as hell I mean like more 12 or more years old which is frightening to think about on multiple levels. This is very old school Too Faced when they were very super tongue in cheek and outrageous and crazy packaging and products then used to have rather than the overly cute main stream type things they do now. This came with a book of eyeshadow which I kept more for sentiment then for use and it could turn the eyeshadow in to liquid eyeliner. It never worked that fantastic on first swipe it did but it would get super watery and not show up that well on the eyes.  Cool concept but not well excuted things have changed in the decade since lol.

Doucce Luscious Lip Stain in 615 Passion Peach the formula was really light and comfortable but this is way too bright orangey coral for me I didn’t like how it looked on.

L.O.C.K. Color L.O.C.K. it Velvet Lip in 5 Nude Coral the name of the color describes it perfectly it is a nude coral again not a color for me so letting this go for someone else to enjoy since it is unused.

Random not branded Makeup Brush Cleaner this is one of those dry sponge color switch type things but it really wasn’t super effective and it just wasn’t functional for me it was just another step. I have plenty of brushes so I just don’t need this.

Jouer High Pigment Lip Gloss in Bond this is such a pretty color and I love the packaging but it is way too sticky for a gloss hater like me.  It is pigmented for a gloss and pretty but I wouldn’t ever be able to get over the stickiness of this.

Makeup (3)

Wander Beauty Unlashed Mascara this got really gunky and goopy fast. The tube and the stopper isn’t great at keeping the brush fluffy or neat. I also felt like I had to work really hard to get a nice look. It is volumizing and curling but it takes to much work and fussing to get there.

Repurchase: No

Covergirl Total Tease Mascara this sucked it had a weird shaped brush that was hard to used and it didn’t make my lashes look good. I had two really bad mascaras after two really good ones so that sucked but they are out of my collection now. This one also dried up really fast.

Repurchase: No

Smashbox Insta-matte this is a lip transformer it makes you lipstick matte. It does really work and it was a really fun product to play with but not really a functional one. It super like gets all weird and pilled on your lips as you glide it over and it pulls most of the color away as it mattifys it works but not well enough. If does feel comfortable on the lips but it is so messy and stains your fingers as you are rubbing it over and it doesn’t work well with a brush. So super fun but not practical.

Repurchase: No

Lotion (1)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Whipped Cream in Intervention this had a weirdly different texture then some of the other whipped cream lotions from them.  It was almost a matte feeling lotion I liked it.

Repurchase: Yes

Bodycare (1)

Fortune Cookie Soap Company Foaming Sugar Scrub in So Vintage this smelled like a mix of banana bread and candy I liked this a lot it had a good amount of scrub mixed with a good amount of soft soapiness if that makes any sense very much enjoyed this one.

Repurchase: Yes

Perfume (4)

Tory Burch Bel Azur perfume this was nice and bright and fruity I really love Tory Burch Perfumes but they are so pricey.

Repurchase: Maybe

Prada Candy Sugar Pop thought I would like this because it has a lot of sweet notes but it is also very floral and I don’t like it at all.

Repurchase: No

Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume this was meh too floral and muted.

Repurchase: No

Pinrose Cuddle Punk this was a very intense sweet apricot smell I used a more earthy perfume to tone it down a lot of days which worked ok. I didn’t hate the scent but it did get overwhelming sometimes. Totally not important but I loved the feel of the label it was like a soft touch matte texture that I really enjoyed.

Repurchase: No

Haircare (5)

Moroccan Oil Moroccan Oil Treatment this is one of my favorite hair oils it’s really thick but absorbs into my hair super well leaving it shiny and soft but not greasy.

Repurchase: Yes

Verb Cleanse Volume Shampoo there was not even enough in this packet for my long hair and made my hair feel like straw.

Repurchase: No

Dry Bar Double Standard Cleansing + Conditioning Foam this was ok but it made my hair feel very fluffy and thin like volumized but not the normal thick lustrous feel my hair normally has. So not bad not great either.

Repurchase: Maybe

Verb Lift + Soften Volume Conditioner this felt like generic hotel conditioner. I am super super picky so nothing really impresses me.

Repurchase: No

Garnier Fructis Damage Repair Treat +Papaya Extract. Another product I just got and used already I liked it made my hair feel soft and smooth and smell nice but nothing life changing if you need a cheap mask I would go for it.

Repurchase: Maybe

Sephora Play! August 2018 Subscription Box Review

Sephora Play!

Cost: $10.00 monthly + tax

Cycle: Every Month

What is it: Every month our favorite money sucking store Sephora sends out a curated box of higher end samples to try out.  Every month you receive 5 samples and a perfume sample.  The boxes are customized with a few different variations being sent out each month.

There is a small survey that Sephora has you take that helps Sephora curate a box to your needs. There is also a card included in the box for a complimentary mini makeover (which are complimentary any way so I don’t really get that) and 50 extra points if you purchase something in store.

Really wide variety of products this month, unfortunately I got a double from my Ipsy bag so that’ll end up in my giant bin of extras that I have for gifts  and trades and whatever. That’s totally normal right to have a giant tub of extra beauty things you don’t want but don’t know what to do with. I am also really over the cheap bags that Sephora gives out I would rather they just stop sending them because it makes me really upset to just get rid of them but I don’t have a need for them to keep them.

Moroccan Oil Ciate Londonn Laneige Nars Grande Lips

Starting off with the double you can see swatches and thoughts on that here in this IPSY POST.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

Full Size:  70 ml

Full Size Cost: $25

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $3.57

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

I did not think I was going to like this I don’t really need overly hydrating products but I did end up liking this. It feels really cool and hydrating and fresh on my face and isn’t sticky at all. It sinks in really quick and feels really smooth I bet this would be really great under makeup. It smells like soap though and the scent lingers for a long time so if you are sensitive to scents this might irritate you.

Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

Full Size: 7 ml

Full Size Cost: $26

Sample Size:  2.7 ml

Value: $10.03

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

Why I didn’t take this out of the box to photograph I have no idea. The has that lovely soft touch matte packaging that all Nars products have that just feels so nice to the touch. This is a white base but not opaque and almost looks a little shimmery though it doesn’t claim to be. I like white bases so this will be good to try. I don’t love the white base that I currently use so I shall see how this stacks up.

Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray

Full Size: 205 ml

Full Size Cost: $28

Sample Size: 26 ml

Value: $3.55

Moroccan Oil Dry Texture Spray

Very rarely do I use texture sprays but this is one of my favorite hair brands so I shall see how it works out. I love their hair oil it works so well on my hair.

Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper in Clear

Full Size:  1.5 g

Full Size Cost: $27

Sample Size:  1.5 g

Value: $27

Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper in Clear

So this looks so tiny to be full size but apparently it is even though it isn’t the same type of packaging as the full size. Curious and Curiouser. This is one of the only lip glosses I can tolerate it is not sticky it feels more balmy but the stinging plumping effect is real with this.

Amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Shampoo

Full Size:  100 ml

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $0.67

Amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Conditioner

Full Size:  300 ml

Full Size Cost: $20

Sample Size: 10 ml

Value: $0.67

Amika Velveteen Dream

I probably won’t use these to be honest but I will toss them in my travel size/sample drawer. Amika products are pretty hit or miss to me.

This was a really high value this month, even though I am kinda skeptical about that lip gloss. I am most excited about that eyeshadow base from Nars.

Boxycharm August 2018 Subscription Box Review

Boxycharm

Cost: $21

Cycle: Every Month

What is it:

Boxycharm sends out 4 to 5 full size  items every month which makes it really unique among the  boxes I subscribe to.  It is a nice change to get all full size products especially for the reasonable price of $21 which is usually less then the cost of one item in the box.

If you would like to subscribe you can use my referral link HERE. I don’t get anything other then points but would really appreciate it but do as you feel comfortable you are also welcome to use the link in the header that leads to the regular homepage.

You can also review your products and get “charms” which are their versions of points that you can use as money off in their shop.

Really interesting assortment of products in this months Boxycharm. I had alot of feelings (She doesn’t even go here! lol). Moving on from movie references and back to makeup lets get started. This will probably be a really long post.

Laura Lee Los Angeles Wander Beauty Adesse New York House of Lashes Smashbox Bang Beauty

Adesse New York Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil

Full Size: 11 ml

Full Size Cost: $18

Sample Size: 11 ml

Value: $18

Adesse New York Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil

I don’t really feel like this moisturized my cuticles at all. It has the advantages of not leaving your fingers feeling greasy but it doesn’t make my cuticles soft. I much prefer the Fortune Cookie Soap ones they are very greasy but they really work.

House of Lashes Siren Mini Lashes

Full Size: 3 pair

Full Size Cost: $22.50

Sample Size: 1 pair

Value: $7.50

House of Lashes Siren Mini

I don’t wear lashes ever I have never worn a pair. I like the idea of minis but these are really intense lashes for minis. they seem really curly and are definitely dramatic. I would have liked if they came with glue since people who don’t wear lashes wouldn’t have that on hand.

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

Full Size: 6 masks

Full Size Cost: $25

Sample Size: 3 masks

Value: $12.50

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

I am excited to try these out I don’t use eye masks often I don’t feel like they ever do anything other then feel nice so I save them for like relaxing treats since I don’t have a ton of them.

Smashbox Always on Liquid Lipstick in In Demand

Full Size: 4 ml

Full Size Cost: $24

Sample Size: 4 ml

Value: $24

Smashbox Always on Liquid Lipstick In Demand

I don’t know how I feel about this color it looks ok in some likes and then like concealer lips in other lights I just don’t know. In the swatch it is a pretty neutral pink but on it seems to change. I have to try it out with like a darker lip liner and see if that helps. As far as formula these stay on pretty well but aren’t super comfy they are a little gritty almost you can feel them on your lips and if I can feel it I want permanent staying power lol. Swatched Below.

Bang Beauty Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate

Full Size: 3.5 g

Full Size Cost: $22

Sample Size: 3.5 g

Value: $22

Bang Beauty Gel Eyeliner

I don’t use gel eyeliner a ton or brown eyeliner ever but feel really compelled to keep this so I will. It is really really soft and creamy and applies nicely but it is brown which is so meh to me. Swatched Below.

Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Palette

Full Size: 7.8 g

Full Size Cost: $19

Sample Size: 7.8 g

Value: $19

Laura Lee Los Angeles

I was so prepared to hate this palette because I am not a Laura Lee fan but I love it. I love colorful palettes and no box ever sends those out. I have really been looking for a small colorful palette that I could take with me when I travel but all my colorful shadows are expensive and in giant palettes I would be afraid would break. This has really nice sturdy thick packaging with a soft matte feel a mirror and a good magnetic closure.  I like the bright fun colors the are pretty smooth and pigmented. Bottoms up has a lot of glitter and it does have fall out which I am not a fan of but it a sparkley Barbie pink is a such a fun touch. This is my most favorite thing in the box.

Total: $103

I was so impressed with the palette which made the box for me the other items were all a little meh for me I will use most but none were really great other then this palette. Not the best Boxycharm month but next month’s spoilers are looking really good.
